- Although he still hates his job, Paul settles into life at the electronics store. He bonds with a fellow employee, a young Ukrainian immigrant named Mykail, who in turn bonds with one of his customers. While Paul still struggles with his job situation, that struggle which includes reporting to a barely of age weaselly assistant manager, Cathy aims for an extra job at the school with more pay as the girl's swim coach. She is able to convince the principal to give her the job at least temporarily until the principal can find or wants to find a more permanent coach. Cathy believes she is both well suited to the job, and something she needs in her life right now. The only aspect she doesn't like is dealing with "stage" parents, one in particular who thinks he can do the job better than her. Meanwhile, Adam brings something into the house that threatens both his relationship with Mia as well as Cathy's position as swim coach.—Huggo
- Cathy swims laps. A young girl gets in the lane next to her and tears up the pool. Cathy tries to keep up and does a decent job.
Greta introduces herself. She's on the swim team. Their swim coach quit because his wife got a job out of town and she's trying to stay in shape until they replace him.
Cathy goes to see the principal to apply for the job. The principal tries to talk her out of it, saying it's a hard job that requires early mornings and travel. Cathy recites her resume including that she was on the University of Minnesota swim team for four years and had the team record in an event.
The principal agrees to give it a shot.
Back home, Rebecca watches Adam and his girlfriend Mia giggle. Cathy goes through her old swimsuits and medals. Watching the way they giggle and tickle, Rebecca whispers to Cathy that she thinks Adam and Mia are "totally doing it."
Cathy says she hasn't picked up on the sex vibe and thinks she would know.
Paul comes downstairs in his new bright yellow uniform and Adam is embarrassed. Cathy snaps at him for giving his dad attitude. Adam and Mia slink off.
Cathy tells Paul about her coaching plans, which will bring in $5,000. "Wow, that's like two scans and a Mountain Dew in the waiting room," Paul says, impressed.
Rebecca comes home to find Sean filling up kiddie pool. He suggests it can be her birthing pool in the hospital.
Paul tries to sell a young couple a 3D TV. His young boss Owen assures him he'll get the hang of it. Paul's Ukranian coworker Mikael asks to switch shifts, but the boss says no. Mik tells Paul about his plans for advancement.
Cathy says hi to the swim team, greeting them with assignments. Cathy gets them in the pool. Greta's pushy dad yells out tips to his daughter. Cathy assures him she has things under control. She tells all the parents to go wait in their cars for their kids.
Back home, Sean interrupts Cathy reading up on swim technique. He wants to run something by her to make sure he's not losing his mind again. Before he can tell her he catches her rubbing her private parts up against the coffee table. Odd. She denies it.
Sean tells her she saw a raccoon family drinking out of their birthing pool in the backyard last night and it made him want to be close to his family. He wants to propose to Rebecca.
Cathy tells him she thinks that's terrific and responsible and "incredibly sane."
Paul comes home wearing a shirt to cover up his yellow work shirt. He notices her scratching between her legs, but she's smiling. The nurses at the clinic said itching could be a sign the medicine is taking effect, so she's encouraged.
Paul feels an itch in his crotch as well and thinks it must be sympathy itching.
Mikael practices on Paul, explaining why he wants to move up to sales associate. Paul enjoys mentoring. Paul scratches his crotch like crazy as they chat.
At the pool Cathy observes her students underwater and offers coaching. Greta's dad starts hollering again. Cathy gets out of the water and offers to race him and the loser has to shut up. She reminds him the area is for swimmers only and mentions that Greta took three seconds off her previous best time. He leaves.
Andrea visits Paul at work, saying her phone broke and she needs a new one. Paul suggests his Ukranian coworker help her out. They bond quickly over James Bond, flirting.
Adam brings Sean the screwdriver he asked to borrow. He sees Adam scratching like crazy. He says he feels like his pants are on fire. Sean has a realization and tells Adam to drop trou. "I should have known that hooker you brought home would leave you a parting gift," he says.
He examines Adams bits and announces he has crabs everywhere. Then he remembers Cathy grinding on the coffee table and says he must have given them to her. Sean says if Adam doesn't tell his parents, he will.
Adam addresses both of his parents. All three are scratching like crazy. Cathy and Paul try to guess what it's about, guessing something to do with algebra, that he's on drugs or gay.
He announces he has crabs and gave them to his parents. Cathy realizes this means he's had sex and wails that he's too young.
Paul asks how they got it and Adam has to confess he had sex in their bed. She's upset because she thought the treatment was working.
Cathy rings Mia's doorbell and gives her a bottle of medicated shampoo for crabs. She tells her she's disappointed that she's been sleeping around and given her whole family crabs.
Mia realizes the implications of what Cathy's saying and tells her she hasn't slept with Adam.
Cathy backpedals and tries to convince Mia not to dump Adam.
Cathy comes home to find Rebecca looking for her favorite sweater and hoping it's not infested. Rebecca tries to offer parenting advice, but Cathy brushes her off.
Adam visits Mia, not knowing what he's walking into. She asks him if there's anything he wants to tell her. He says nothing's going on.
Mia tells him about his mom's visit. He tries to protest, but Mia is ready to shut the door in his face.
Finally he goes with: "I can't believe you would dump me when my mom is so sick." That gets the door shut in his face.
Paul comes home for lunch and is there when Adam storms in and immediately starts cursing out his mom.
They shout at him not to talk to her like that and ask who he got crabs from. He tells them about the hooker.
Cathy is revolted and exasperated and tells him she doesn't know how to parent him anymore. He accuses them of "f---ing" with his life and Cathy says it right back to him.
"You brought a disease into our home that now we're all forced to deal with!" she shouts.
"Yeah, well now you know how it feels," Adam says. Paul and Cathy are stunned into silence.
Paul goes back to work, where his boss Owen says he won't bust him for being three minutes late. Paul suggests he give Mikael a chance to apply for the sales job, but Owen complains about his accent and what immigrants are doing to the country.
Paul pushes him against the locker and gives him a talking to. "This is a s--- job and you're an a--hole. The way you talk to Mik, it's not only wrong, it's illegal," Paul yells.
He tells him to get with the program and slams his hand against the locker for emphasis. Owen is terrified and Paul sees a wet spot running down Owen's leg. "You pee'd in your pants man? That's awesome," Paul says.
Cut to Mikael dropping by Paul's house to thank him for helping him get the sales job. He brought him a bottle of Goldschlager. He wants Paul's permission to ask Andrea out.
She hears him and tells him if he's a chubby chaser he can forget it. She tells him she's not skinny, but she considers herself a lady. Paul confirms that's American for "yes."
Cathy arrives at swim practice to find the principal there with all the parents. She knows about the crabs from someone's Facebook page, and asks Cathy to step aside. But that's not the real issue.
Les asks her how she's supposed to coach when she's in and out of hospitals. He says everyone's afraid to say no to the lady with cancer.
She tells them if they plan to fire her for having cancer, they better get lawyers.
A parent calls her a bitch and she agrees that she's a "tough brave bitch" and will turn their daughters into them as well. She announces that she's going to take her team, whoever's still on it, out for a run. She runs off.
Greta catches up to her outside, then the rest of the team. They jog around the track.
