My life in ruins
jotix1006 November 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Jonathan Hopkins a newlywed man, is having second thoughts about his life with the beautiful Lucie. She is not what he expected and their married life has turned to pure hell. Lucie one day decides to walk out from Jonathan, after a bitter fight in which she injures herself. The police arrives and Jonathan is suspected of domestic violence. Lucie runs away.

At the same time, Jonathan is summoned to a lawyer Farelli's office who proceeds to tell him about an inheritance of about twenty million dollars left by his absent father, who went to America after abandoning his French family. This take Jonathan by surprise. His happiness is short lived as Jon is informed of a car accident Lucie suffered on a country road, where she was almost killed. To his amazement, Jon discovers the woman at the hospital is not his wife Lucie.

This television movie made for French television was shown recently on cable. It is an adaptation of the popular novels by Pierre Boileau and Thomas Narcejac with an adaptation by Antoine Lecomblez and under the direction of DenisMalleval. The screen treatment does not do justice to the original novel. The way it is presented it is confusing made even worst when Jon discovers his Lucie is not really her. Read the novel and let your imagination fly,

A movie in shreds

This is the first installment of several MTV movies based on Boileau/Narcejac novels .This famous team was one of the best thrillers writers and their works produced at least two classics both in IMDb top 250 ("vertigo" "Les Diboliques").

I was looking forward to watching "La Vie En Miettes" :what a disappointment!I have read all BN novels and I did not even recognize the plot (with the exception of a vague story of inheritance). The movie is slow-moving,with uninteresting characters and when it's over ,you have the feeling of having watched a nothing story;the hero never seems in jeopardy (one of the writer's permanent features, par excellence the victim's thriller) One can expect more of the next movies ;it can hardly be worse.

Great thriller off the radar

Wow. Surprisingly, this TV movie is an excellent amoral thriller. Weird situations connect each other in a coherent way espectator, blind in cluelessness, will understand only in the end. A must-see movie off the radar.
