- Ray and Tanya must convince a bank officer and her friend that their "Wellness Center for Women" idea is financially sound. Lenore discovers a new prospect to rival Ray.
- "Hung" - "Don't Give Up on Detroit or Hung Like a Horse"
Ray's voice, over a montage of Detroiters putting their noses to grindstone in an effort to turn lemons into lemonade, says that necessity is mother of invention.
Since we last saw them Ray has been subbing twice a week and Tanya has been working as a barista at Starbucks. He shows up and tells her that he thinks that they should get back into the happiness consulting business. As she makes coffee they bicker about how to do it and Tanya has a Starbucks light bulb moment: she realizes what they need is a storefront where a woman can come place an order and feel safe.
So they head off to get a small business loan. They are rejected by eight banks. At the final bank Tanya and Ray are awkwardly trying to explain to prim loan officer Judy what they're "selling." They strike on a Wellness Center for Women where there will be seminars and "private" sessions and "organic hand cream." Judy turns them down. Tanya and Ray bicker in the parking lot and Tanya gets angry enough to go back in, chase Judy down and explain that what they'll really be selling is a more "orgasmic life" and that Judy is free to come have a free session, no obligation, no pressure.
So Judy and Joanie, her ditzy blond friend from the bank, come to Tanya's apartment where she blathers on about vulvas and tries to explain that it will be a four week program complete with private practicums and "orgasmic living." She plays them a tape of her, very loudly, having an orgasm. They ask "you want a loan for this?" Ray offers them wine and explains he could do "in-house" sessions or meet in a public place. Joanie seems intrigued, Judy scandalized. They go to the porch to discuss it while Ray and Tanya bicker about her using the word vulva (plus a big clinical picture).
Out on the porch Joanie asks why Judy freaks out every time something fun is about to happen. She says it's just a date, something to laugh about ten years from now.
Ray meets Judy and Joanie for a date where they blather on about banking and Bush over drinks. They get nutty and drunk and Ray claims that he loves hearing talk about the bank and banking. Joanie kisses him. Judy gets nervous and leaves. As she does she and Joanie argue that she is repressed. Ray goes to Judy who says whenever she goes out with Joanie, she always gets left behind. Ray says she's not going to get left behind, not with him, not tonight. They all go up to a room. But just as Ray is getting it on with them both, Judy and Joanie start kissing each other. It becomes apparent that they don't need him and he leaves. He's disappointed but on Monday morning he and Tanya get their loan approved.
Tanya and Ray open a funky, brick-walled storefront. At the blackboard Tanya talks to a large group of women about orgasmic living and plays her orgasm tape. Some women leave but plenty of others stay and suddenly Ray is very busy with several regular customers. We get a montage of Ray pleasuring all of the newcomers.
Thanks to all of the new customers he's been able to fix up his house, much to the delight of Darcy and Damon and the confusion of Jess who's wondering how he's affording this from subbing and odd jobs. (He claims he does personal training.) She is having trouble even getting an interview for a job. He asks her to move in again. She says she signed a lease. He says well then, she's always welcome and that she can count on him.
Lenore sees a Happiness Consultants ad in an alternative newspaper and rips it up. She spies her cute waiter Jason and she ends up taking him home and banging him. Midway she tells him to pull out and show her his penis. After she pays him, he balks but she says it's a gift. He says he's not a hooker but will take it this one time. She says it only takes one murder to make a man a murderer.
Ray shows up at the Wellness Center in a new Mustang convertible and takes Tanya out for a ride. They seem giddy.
