Ata Demirel
yusufpiskin13 January 2023
The Nightingale of Bursa is a Turkish comedy film directed by Hakan Algül, written by Ata Demirer, and starring Ata Demirer, Cem Gelinoglu and Özge Özacar, released on Disney+ on January 13, 2023.

The movie that I watched with prejudice because of the fact that the names who have been pioneers in terms of comedy in Turkey have been standing still or taking a step back in the last 5 years, is also an indicator of how meticulous Ata Demirel is in his work.

The fact that Gökhan Atmis was chosen as the cinematographer ensured that the movie was 5 steps ahead of "New Year's Eve", which was also screened on Disney+ in the same period.

Gökhan Atmis's technical choices are excellent.

Another plus of the movie is that the movie takes place in the 80s and the art team has done a thorough job in this regard.

In addition to the selection of songs that contain many references to Ata's favorite casino and tavern culture, it is also a very good move to work with a name like Taskin Sabah.

In short, Ata Demirel's The Nightingale of Bursa was by far the best among the comedy works made in the last 10 years.

Ata managed it again
guvenozan15 January 2023
It is surprising how Ata managed to get a generation back to their childhoods.

Those times were the ones everyone value the real musicians and stage shows.

Ata Demirer generally prefers to set he scene in small towns to maintain the sincerity of people and the simplicity of the life. Once again, we are on the shore of Agean see which I will never fed up.

I personally, like the cast of the movie. Ozge Ozacar an Cem Gelinoglu fit in their roles however, I need to mention Toygan Avanoglu separately. He is very successful and added a lot of flavor to the film with Dr. Fatih role.

Watch it. It is entertaining with a lot of dramatic scenes as well.

Forgot to mention. Musics were awesome.

Well done Ata.

He asks Mr. Sinasi to give the song him for his album record. But he hasn't got enough money for this. He asks his brother from Germany to give him the money. His brother reluctantly gives the money. But Mr. Sinasi has promised to give the song to another singer, Dr. Fatih, who is Cengiz's cousin.

Taskin tells Cengiz that they will give the song to him and takes money from Cengiz. But Mr. Sinasi has already given the song to Dr. Fatih. Cengiz lost his all money and his job too. Mr. Sinasi's daughter Arzu offers his dad to form a music band with Cengiz and Taskin. Then they start to take stage in night clubs. And then they become a very populer band in Bursa called "The Nightingale of Bursa".

Cengiz fells in love with Arzu. He writes a song for her and they sing it together on stage. But in this period, Arzu makes a contract with the biggest night club in Istanbul and gets married with the owner of record company. After all, Cengiz decides to give up music and begins to live a very simple life in his small town.

A classic Ata Demirer movie, simple and funny.

A film by Ata Demirer that is close to its maximum potential
olcare19 February 2023
Before starting the film, I had some prejudice, wondering if this film would be like the others, but it was beyond my expectations, especially in terms of resembling the "Yesilcam" cinema in a positive way.

Although it had many shortcomings in terms of musical aspects, it was emotionally powerful and made one feel the warmth of the past. Although the first 10 minutes were cringe-worthy, the film reached its maximum potential by highlighting the emotional part in the last 30 minutes, and Ata Demirer delivered a decent performance.

We need such films in Turkish cinema because of where it has come to. This film was exactly at that point of need. Although it had a simple scenario, it didn't bore me at least. It wasn't very successful in terms of jokes, but it warmed your heart at the end.

I hope we can blend this emotional power with a much more advanced scenario in another film. It is sufficient for an evening movie.

Melodrama from a Turkish comedy star
olivesandvines17 January 2023
Bursa Bulbulu (The Nightingale of Bursa) is a melodrama from Ata Demirer and his crew. The movie features the story of a wedding singer, who sings "taverna muzigi" (tavern music) in a pianist (or keyboard player) singer-songwriter style in 1980's. This style, which the singers often sang songs of personal troubles, impossible-loves, love-sickness, sadness, and tragedies, was famous in that era. Ata Demirer, known for his sincere comedies, drifts from this style and moves to a different style, which has lots of famous examples, in which real singers had sung and played in movies of that era. However this movie falls beyond expectations, with lots of poor acting (except Özge Özacar) and and fragmented narratives. The movie can be said to be mediocre, except amazing songs made and sang by Ata Demirer himself.

Not Enough...
amehmetderli13 November 2023
There are inspirations from many different films and series, but it's a production well below the expected quality. When it's Ata Demirer, a certain amount of laughter and surprising emotional moments are guaranteed, but in this story, I didn't experience funny moments, and the emotional moments also seemed a bit lacking. Probably because we're accustomed to his higher performances, it was an extremely disappointing experience for me. However, we love him, and I'm sure much better ones will come because, frankly, this film feels like it was made on order and just for the sake of it. Even the music quality is below Ata Demirer's standard. He can and he will do better...

Extraordinary One Of The Best Turkish Movies
OrdinaryPerson19 January 2023
Well first of all let me clarify the thing i mentioned about that why this movie is seems like most of the typical Turkish movies which those are mostly good movies for The Turks but not have universal entities in it . While you watching it you probably in first few minutes thinking that it's kinda typical movie that tells us about the life of a late middle aged person trying find its pursuit of achivement . But when you keep watching that it tells us a quite in a unique and effective way that ain't drops attention of the viewers . I strongly reccomended you to watch this movie , i try to avoid the not giving spoilers soo the viewer might get fresh and great experience with it . Thanks Ata Demirel for this wonderful movie , i must admit that for his previous movie experiences i just thought that this movies is kind of one of it's smilar and kinda ok movies , but in this movie really his best movie . And also would like to thank Cem Gelinoglu and Ozge Ozacar for their beautiful performances .

I deleted my first review. It is nice movie.
erhanipekciler15 January 2023
First of all I am a huge fan of Ata Demirer. I watched his movies and stand up show many times. He is a perfect talent. In my first review I said I didn't like the movie because it is not a comedy and I didn't laugh at all but I misjudged the movie, this is a musical drama and when I think like that, I can say Ata Demirer executes perfect job. It is so naive with lots of details and also very well observed of period... Also it has a deep story about being looser or I don't know unlucky maybe.. I really loved it. Also I loved the woman singer voice so much, very arabesque.. I hope we can see second movie with happy final. Good characterizations, nice scenes and lovely 80s atmosphere... Really Good job. Watchable and recommended.

Ata Demirer's best film so far
firti19 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
After watching the trailer, while waiting for the classic Ata Demirer movie, it was the opposite corner. I left the movies with promising trailer with great disappointment. It was really thought through and the script, the shooting and the crew were all great. Even the Metin Akpinar scene alone is enough to express the quality. He could go as far as the "Do you have a towel in your mouth" scene. I haven't felt this happy after watching a Turkish movie in a long time. Comedy, drama and music, everything is in its place. I'm surprised it's so underrated and rated 7. It will be difficult to achieve the same quality in the next movie after this one. Thank you for a lovely evening we had.
