As we reach the penultimate episode of the final series of this long running series things are getting tense and all bets are off as to who will make it out alive! With evidence pointing to Harry's erstwhile friend, CIA agent Jim Coaver, Harry has him taken into custody despite his diplomatic status. When Ruth finds out she informs the Home Secretary and before you can say 'diplomatic incident' CIA officers are knocking at the door demanding Coaver's release
except they are not CIA officers. Once the deception is discovered both MI5 and the CIA give chase only to have him thrown from a moving van and die. Conveniently he lasted long enough to tell Harry that he had vital information on his laptop which is now safely under lock and key in a secure room in the US Embassy.
There were a few obvious flaws in this episode; the fake CIA agents were somewhat cliché, the retrieval of the laptop from the US embassy was somewhat unbelievable and having somebody in the driving seat of a car being attacked from behind is about as old as the car! None of this really matters though as the viewer is swept up in the excitement of the story. Having watched 'Spooks' since the first episode I can't wait to see how it all ends next week I know how I'd like it to end but I know that there are few happy endings for characters in this series.
