Brilliant storytelling
magnoliacream30 December 2022
Yoon Hyun-woo (Song Joong Ki) is a dedicated and loyal employee of Soonyang Group. However, the company frames him for embezzlement and gets him shot in the head. He wakes up in the past as Jin Do Jun, the youngest grandson of the Soonyang patriarch, Chairman Jin Yang Cheol (Lee Sung-min). Yet he retains the memory of his previous 30+ year-old self. Armed with knowledge of what would happen in the future, he enacts his revenge against the family that destroyed his own in his old life. He also befriends a young law student Seo Min-young (Shin Hyun-been) who he knows would become an anti-corruption biggie and Soonyang family's "grim reaper" in the future.

Imagine knowing events before they happen such as which presidential candidate would win or which stocks would bubble and burst. It's every financial investor's dream. No wonder this became a huge hit in Korea.

Up to episode 15, the drama seems like any other about members of a ruling family fighting for the top position in the company, albeit one of them has knowledge about the future in his disposal. But the way episode 16 wraps it up in the end pulls it far ahead from the pack. Some viewers have expressed disappointment over the ending but I love it. It's mind-boggling and, for me, confirms Korean drama writers' brilliance.

Everything so good, but ended disappointingly
pranayjalvi31 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Reborn Rich is another revenge drama, but with time and space involving memory transfer to another body which is quite supernatural. Another thing the drama does well is executing the ideas of the character through and showcasing many glimpses of early 2000s South Korea.

There is very less romance in the drama, and for a reason I preferred that. The political strategy and the ups and downs in the country that has been utilised by the Soonyang family was quite intriguing. The best of the drama is the relationship between Jin Do Jun and his grandfather, is pure gold, it's just perfect and deserves a 10 just for it, the acting was on point even with the child actor was brilliant too.

Everything was straightaway gold until the last episode. The 15th episode changed the pattern of the show and the finale of the drama turned out to be messed up. Episode 16 throws out everything, every aspiration, dream, all the development and the beautifully crafted revenge plot, and turns into a train-wreck that looks conclusive on paper, yet lacking in feeling like a real ending. The character of Do Jun had the saddest conclusion and it felt a forced way out for Soonyang which made the conclusion unsatisfactory. Had it not been for the ending, the drama definitely had the best output of its potential.

My Rating : 8/10.

Something Wrong With The Ending
PalmBeachG27 December 2022
Watched the whole series without missing any episodes, and all my stars basically go to the male actor Song Jung Ki who I enjoyed the most. Never saw him before, but he was the one that kept me watching as he played the intelligent handsome youngest grandson that was reincarnated and taking over the family's company. The script was interesting -enough to keep my interest but I just couldn't understand the last episode 100% and by this time, I just didn't want to rewatch it - maybe I lost something in the translation or maybe I just didn't understand it not sure. Enjoyed the series until then. Didn't really like the way the romance developed either with the prosecutor - thought maybe a different casting could have been used for her as didn't find that much of a match to be quite honest, thus that is why I gave it an 8 overall - the last episode and the development of the romance. My review is meant to be 100% positive for the male lead and stars removed for last episode (script).

Surprisingly Good
rubypdones14 December 2022
The drama may be tagged as "fantasy" but the execution, the directing and the acting seem so real and believable. The fact that real sociopolitical events are interspersed with the story makes the drama more compelling.

Song Joong-ki once again chose a very good drama. Initially I was apprehensive that Reborn Rich may be similar to Vincenzo, his last drama prior to Reborn Rich where his character left an indelible mark on me, but was I in for a surprise. He tackled his character differently in Reborn Rich so I never saw him as Vincenzo but as Jin Do-jun/Yoon Hyun-woo. He is likewise supported by veteran actors whose performances are top caliber, making Reborn Rich such a treat for all Kdrama lovers.

Kudos to the whole Reborn Rich team.

Ending as disastrous as GoT
Ariebeth27 December 2022
This would have been a 10/10 drama but the way it ended was just a complete lack of effort by the scriptwriter. It's as if the Game of Throne creators managed to get their hands on this script too.

You've got a great cast, such solid actors who were able to convey so much with every glance and action. The grandfather in particular was a force of nature. The premise of the show was fantastic, you could do so much with the plot! I'm sure everyone has asked themselves at some point, what they would do if they could go back in time to relive the past with their memories intact. So many possibilities, especially when one has the knowledge of what's to come! Yet the scriptwriter had to ruin everything with that ridiculous and lackluster ending that spat on everything that the earlier episodes had set up. Honestly they should be ashamed of themselves for that last episode.

I had to come back and rate higher
tec80512 December 2022
I watched a couple episodes and thought it was interesting, fun, good cast (so many recognizable faces - or maybe so few top ranked Korean actors?), well shot, good locals, basically everything to make it worth watching. I'm about to watch episode 11 and find myself wishing they released the entire season in a single go. This really has been a fantastic series, I had to come back and increase my rating and write this review. Too many Korean shows start very well then begin falling off in the later stages (Bad Crazy, Aelliseu, Ghost Doctor) but so far this show has only gotten better. This is better than some very good shows like Vincenzo, Zombie Detective, Weak Hero Class 1... and a bunch of shows I never finished. Hoping this continues with top quality.

And I wish Song Joong-ki would work a bit on his English accent :-)

Reborn Rich ending explained
YourOnlyOne25 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The title "Reborn Rich" was not about Yoon Hyun Woo being re-born as Jin Do Joon. It was about Jin Do Joon being reborn as Yoon Hyun Woo and becoming rich!

1. Yoon Hyun Woo did not die, he was in a coma for 1 week. He can not be reborn at all.

2. When Jin Do Joon died in the 2nd car crash, Jin Do Joon was reborn as Yoon Hyun Woo. Who later became rich.

3. The "Timeline 2" did not exist. As Yoon Hyun Woo said so himself that it was not time travel, nor possession. It was a repentance for both Jin Do Joon and Yoon Hyun Woo.

Everything else happened, other than the small changes (he was just recalling a previous life he should not be able to recall at all, that's why there were small changes), exactly the way it did.

"Reborn Rich" also meant being a new person, rich with values.

"Reborn Rich" also meant being reborn as a new person after his brush with death, and coming out of the coma (was "reborn").

Re: Repentance 1. As Yoon Hyun Woo, this is his repentance because he chose money over reporting the murder.

2. As Jin Do Joon, it is his repentance because he did do things he shouldn't, he actually became his grandfather in the end.

When Jin Do Joon was reborn as Yoon Hyun Woo, it was his chance to repent as Jin Do Joon (previous life) and as Yoon Hyun Woo (present life).

In the end, Yoon Hyun Woo became part of Miracle, the company he founded in his previous life as Jin Do Joon.

That was one heck of a story twist. Totally unexpected.

Thumbs up, hats off!
evrimvural20 December 2022
Such a creative and catchy story. That guy, Song Joon Ki, has a good eye for scenarios, I believe. His works are always the best. He is the best cast for smart guys, BTW. Must be one of the very few K dramas I can't stop watching even to sleep. The reason why I stop watching is not finish all episodes broadcasted. It will be difficult to wait for the finale. However, I do not think there is great chemistry between the leading male and female actors. That's the only thing I found "ok". I like the fact that in K dramas, there are some fantastic elements that lead to broader range of small stories beside the main story. Bonus, the first episode is taking place in Istanbul. Thank you all who worked for this drama.

Unexpected, unnecessary ending
thelostletters25 December 2022
Since ep 01, this drama kept me intrigued. So many amazing K actors with a strong brilliant storyline...quite a rare occasion for a drama lover. Everything was well till ep 15, as an audience I could feel the protagonist. But they ruined it completely. Never once did I imagine that ending would be so cliche and depressing. They didn't justify it at all. I feel betrayed tbh. And way disappointed rn. Nobody treats a story like this -_- Only giving it 7 stars for those 15 episodes....efforts and work of actors should be appreciated.

I hope this series gets to remake again with a different ending.

Reincarnation, Repentance
shareen_shany31 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is the 2nd Song Joong Ki drama watched. I liked him in "Descendants of the Sun " From the 1st episode, it was already enticing & thrilling! The drama begins to unfold slowly & exciting by the 2nd episode! This kind of drama really pulls you in! Already loved it!

Truly enjoyed the relationship between the grandfather & grandson!

Great minds think alike! CEO oh & Do Jun are great in the scheming!

The rest of the casts are great, too, like Rachel, Do jun mom & Prosecutor Seo.

From episodes 1 to 15 are just fantastic! But the ending of episode 16 is different from the novel. Why the change of pace? It's totally unexpected! Do jun fought so hard to take over Soonyang & by the end of episode 15, he died & failed.

The alternative ending is different & about repentance.

All in all, it's great, but I would prefer the ending as in the novel.

Everything was good until last episode
officialfarook27 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Concept of whole series left everyone confused in last episode.

Why was this done, don't know

If this wasn't the time travel, and is just repentance than how is that possible for someone to remember the past and change the future, as he can change the share market things(buy and sell).

Means what he was doing, it's only because he was from future, and not because he was smart.

But in the end of episode they showed it like he was in comma and just dreaming, and the viewers were just being told they are watching the show brainless.

Hope the main lead doesn't chooses the script like these anymore.

Reborn Rich (2022)
thecinephilereviews23 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Reborn Rich is a South Korean television-series, adapted from the original webtoon of the same name written by Sam Gyung. Song Joong-ki returns in the leading role as Yoon Hyeon-woo. A loyal employee working for one of the wealthiest conglomerates in South Korea. He is betrayed and murdered by his employers in Soonyang Group. Then discovers he has been reincarnated into the body of Jin Do-jun, the youngest grandson of the Soonyang family. Behind enemy lines, he seizes the opportunity to track down who murdered him and take over the company. This revenge tale becomes nothing short of compelling, due the performances of the lead cast members. Particularly Lee Sung-min who steals the spotlight as the power hungry Jin Yang-cheol, and the sound chemistry he has with Song Joong-ki is fascinating to behold. The series is well-paced, addictive and the audience is treated with intelligence until we reach the finale. The conclusion to the series turns out to be one of the most disappointing endings I have ever seen. After we've become invested in Do Jun's objective to secure the company in the previous episodes. He is unceremoniously killed off, whilst it is revealed that his alter-ego Hyeon-woo not only survived the ambush, but fabricated Do-jun's entire story arc. This creates massive plot holes and a confusing finale. As opposed to the webtoon's ending where Do-jun achieves his dream. Marrying the love of his life, Seo Min-young. This is the canon ending for me.

The reveal felt quite unnecessary and depressing. None of the characters live happier lives without the presence of Do-jun and it takes 20 years to finally overtake Soonyang. I understand subversion of expectations can be used as plot devices but this was not a correct execution. All events preceding the 16th episode are now rendered pointless. I would not recommend this series based on how unsatisfying the finish turned out to be.

A Disappointment
lia0002725 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This drama is not really similar with the manhwa/novel with the same name even though it is based from the novel. There are differences that I would like to highlight here, first grandma jin was not mention in the manhwa/novel but in the series grandma Jin was the one who inviting Jin Yoonki's family to come to his father's birthday party after being estranged for 10 years, while in the novel Jin Dojun already grandpa's favourite grandson even though grandpa didn't like his parents but he never estranged his grandson, also Jin Yoonki is the actual son of grandma jin unlike the drama which said that he is not her real son. Second Jin Dojun sometimes can be arrogant and showing off his wealth well he didn't like to be undermined by those who are less rich and stupider than him, this guy could throw off 200 million won of new laptops just for his newcomer party of his university just for his marketing strategy to introduce laptops for students and told off those who returned his gift, while in the drama this Jin Dojun is too polite and humble,etc.... I blamed the writer for not really grasping the important points of this novel and think that it was too trivial to added Jin Dojun's quality character.

Let's talk about the acting, Song Joongki's acting is a disappointment no different with Vincenzo, while Lee Sumin's acting as grandpa Jin is what making me keep watching this drama he is that good. This drama is not that good better for me to reading the novel and the comic. The ending is totally sucks but I have yet to finish reading the novel I hope the ending is different than the drama.

Great drama end up as disaster because of final episode
chaparala-abhilash25 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Started very well until the final episode which kills the whole plot 2-15 episodes down the drain and lot of loose ends in the end. Do Jun and Hyeon Wu looks alike but no one recognize him in final episode except his secretary. Not sure how original do Jun character made all investments without knowing further any got majority shares before killer by evil family. There is clarity on the original Do Jun character. I still don't get it where is the revenge part as nobody is punished in the end except losing management rights.

Confrontation between grand father Jin Yang cheol and do Jun are very good. After grandfather death it's not that much interest. Wonderful Acting by Lee Sung Min. All cast acted well.

Very well crafted series BUT WORST last episode!
liezelpalencia25 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I hate the last episode! It was stupid. I can't believe they killed Jin Do June, the genius, just like that. I wish he had his full life and never had to return to Yoo.

It's pointless! They should've just kept him as the reborn rich guy. I love his grandfather. The characters are all amazing. I wish they had a better looking female lead. She's a decent actor. The whole thing was genius except the last episode. They could make him go back as Jin Do Jun but at least he would know who killed him.

That's another stupid thing, he should've known that Dong Ki ordered someone to be killed 20yrs ago, how could he not remember? Very frustrating.

One of the best K-dramas I have seen yet
mcmugged26 December 2022
I loved Song Joon Ki in Vincenzo and when I saw he was starring in this new drama, I wanted to see it. Each week, I had to wait for new episodes and it was really tough waiting because they were so good! I could rewatch this whole series again and probably like it even more the 2nd time around.

The fantasy part (a guy is shot and somehow is reborn about 20 years earlier as a grandson of the Chairman of a huge conglomerate in Korea) is just the kind of thing I love. These types of scenarios don't always work as well as I would like, but in this case it was handled just perfectly.

I am going to find out who wrote this script and look for more by this person.

All is not well when it doesn't end well!
sharmarohan-6385028 December 2022
Overall a great drama till episode 15, intriguing plot and for first time in a while, every episode made sense. The volatile relationships between the characters and the hostile environment the drama is based alone makes this drama worth watching.

However the ending, episode 16, is one of the most confusing and meaningless episodes of I've ever witnessed. I wish I hadn't watched the last episode. It is like eating an extremely delicious cupcake but the last bite that you cherish the most is filled with poop. I wish there was an undo button for our memories.

The last episode, especially the conclusion, made a literal mockery of the whole plot and made no sense. The message that the writer wanted to present at the end "Repentance" had no meaning whatsoever. At least stick to an emotion that you can do justice to. Just because you need to finish the drama in 16 episodes, don't kill it with such a sub-standard ending. It could have been an excellent drama but it will be a good drama only due to the ending.

Even after years, people (at least I) would resent this drama for its last episode, which this drama and the team behind it doesn't deserves.

To summarise in one line, a fantastic drama with a fatal ending that kills the plot and the drama.

Outstanding - a must watch.
joanneozboyaci26 December 2022
Forget any bad reviews. I have watched a lot of dramas and this is right up there with the best. All the actors especially the leads were outstanding. I literally counted the hours to the next episode and could easily watch it all again. 16 episodes was perfect and not dragged out and it didn't feel like a rushed ending. I think it even left room for a season 2 as lots of characters still could have further stories to unfold. The Chairmans character went from hate to love and back during the series. Song Joon Ki proves how adaptable he is to different roles and chooses his projects carefully. I encourage you to binge watch this series as soon as you can. Now if possible!!!!!

A really good chaebol based drama.
Dillydaydream16 December 2022
I think Song Joong-ki is very good at picking good dramas to star in. He is a good actor rather than a great actor but he surrounds himself with a very good entourage. He did it in Vicenzo and again in this one. Lee Sung-min is a terrific actor and is brilliant playing Jin Yang-cheol the head of the family. The tension in this drama builds and builds brilliantly. I really like how the writers Kim Tae-hee and Jang Eun-Jae use Jin Do-Jun memories from his previous life to help him get his revenge. The only slight criticism for me is that sometimes the subtitles go a bit too fast but that's down to Viki which is the streamer I am watching it on. I can't wait to see the remaining episodes.

For every deal there's a price to pay.
alaningle727 December 2022
A dogsbody in a large company is murdered and framed whilst retrieving money from a large slush fund. He then finds himself in the body of a young child who's parents are the ostracised members of the corporate family who are the owners of the company he once worked for. Because of the knowledge he has of future events he starts to amass wealth to allow him to challenge for the ownership of the company and find out who was behind his murder. It is a clever idea but the plot has various holes and near the end the story gets a little haphazard. It is well acted by the entire cast, and has interesting characters which still make it worth a watch.

For my tenth kdrama I'm impressed
albatoolalawishaikh28 December 2022
It was unexpected and justified to see lower class man takes over sonyang.

The story is amusing and loaded with business and economy which is a bit hard to follow.

The acting is top tier from all the cast All the dynamics between characters are complex and interesting.

It a period drama set in the late 80s and 90s and exploring the economy of Korea in a decade.

But most importantly we see all the characters go through a lot of events and we know how they all end up eventually, since we started the story from the future.

We see how business succession on conglomerate families works, and how it affect the relationship between all family members even if they are not interested in the business.

The series showcase how big companies expand and grow massively on the poor's expense. How money through the rich's hand, while lower class beg to afford for life essentials.

And the trickiest part is the viewer will kinda root for the main character when he does all that!

The grandfather was a filthy rich obsessed guy and in a great way but the end was what he deserved.

He robbed ppl and destroyed poor ppl lives and to have his legacy get taken by a poor man who was raised in an effected family was pure irony and karma.

..spoiler..

I'm gonna say it: the ending was unexpected but all the clues hidden in plain sight. It raised the question of how did not see that coming like in the sixth sense plot twist.

From the first episode: HW was shot, the camera angle was from his point of view and that means the bullet wasn't 100% lethal.

In the second episode: when he reincarnated in dojun's body and tried to remember 4-2, he felt the pain in his head which was a proved that he was injured but not killed.

But everything was clear when the first accident happened and he remembered the inevitable fact that dojuns is dead.

He tried to cheat death over and over again and I was hoping they don't force a happy Kdrama like ending and they exceded my expectation.

Worst last episodes

Warning: Spoilers
Overall, all the episodes are very good, I can't say anything, it's really good when the story goes one after the other, but except for episode 16 the intensity of the ending seems like something is really missing that the ending is sped up the romance that should have been continued in the end but it's gone I still don't feel like taking revenge in the end because it seems to be really accelerated all the episodes that went by lost their meaning in just one episode that should have been the main character's work hard in those episodes suddenly disappeared I still can't get enough of what happened in the ending, it seems like I wasted watching other episodes just to finish the disappointing ending.

DIRECTOR, WRITER ALL ARE IDIOTS DISAPPOINTING
haiderkaleem25 December 2022
Fu***** Mockery!

If any other Kdrama team wants to learn how to ruin a perfect drama they can watch RR, i am just so devastated after finale that how someone can turn a really good drama to depression.

It was all going great for the first 15 episodes which was 94% of the whole show and suddenly they put their illogical reasoning towards finale.

I am with no words right now instead of cursing to put it here.

People who are going to watch this just avoid this to save your precious time... I was going to write a 9/10 for this show before ep15 ending and now even wants to give it 1 just because of this finale but because of 15ep have to give it something better.
