C'mon, those aren't even close to Monarch caterpillars. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 Monarch caterpillars have white, yellow and black stripes. I know this a flaky love story, but you couldn't come up with some.

To highlight the positives, it had an interesting storyline, the actors and the special effects were great. I enjoyed the comedic relief, but I think what was missing was the believability and genuine joy you get from observing these creatures in its natural habitat and its beauty of transforming. I was expecting something quite magical and I think it fell flat for me. It didn't hit the mark or give me butterflies but it was an okay movie to watch on a wet day.
So many fake reviews -- this movie isn't a 10 on anyone's scale

Clearly the production team has someone posting fake reviews on this one.
The movie itself overdoes it on the Hallmark sound effects -- every line is accompanied with some annoying music to tell you how to feel. The characters are awkward. The main rival is a mustache-twirler, the lead's best friend can't help but smile during every line, and the lead's father is overly invested in marrying off his daughter. And butterflies -- not sure where they came up with that idea, but it makes the whole thing feel silly.
But if you're dying to watch another woman fall in love with a rich good looking guy who just happens to be available and never has to work a day of his life so he can instead spend all of his time focused on the lead woman then this will do the trick.

I've hit a dry patch lately. Not a whole lot of decent Hallmark in the past week or so. Most of them in the 6 and 7 range, not many over 8 stars, I need 8 stars. This was a good movie, not a great one, the leads are wonderful together, she is a breath of fresh air as this character who loves butterflies, lives butterflies, knows all there is to know about them. She is an insect scientist who also does butterfly shows and releases them at weddings, birthdays, other events. She is drop dead gorgeous as we all can see. She has an assistant and he's a fun character. Kevin McGarry is the usual Hallmark male, and I'm afraid he's a one trick pony. He is the same person in every story, be it this one, or the Wedding Veil series... He needs a kick start, but on the other hand why would he care, he's worth over $100 Million. What, where did he get all that money? Maybe these Hallmark people are burnt out, look how many things they have to do every year.

Really liked the concept for 'Feeling Butterflies', it sounded really cute and charming and with the potential to be a good mix of light hearted and moving. Am familiar with Kevin McGarry and have liked him in many of his films regardless of the films themselves. All the Hallmark regulars have up and down filmographies but most of the most popular ones have been consistent in their performances, and while not one of the most prolific regulars McGarry is more watchable than he isn't.
'Feeling Butterflies' was no exception to this. In terms of performances, it is one of the best acted films of the first half of Hallmark's 2022 output, and it has lead characters worth engaging with without being distracted by them being unlikeable. Did however, sad to say, find the film itself somewhat uneven. It is definitely worth seeing and has a lot of good, but as much as it saddens me to say this reviewer can't get entirely on board with the very high praise from most. 'Feeling Butterflies' is not one of the worst 2022 Hallmark films, but it is not one of the best either.
There is a lot to like here. Kayla Wallace and McGarry give very amiable performances that have a great deal of charm and just as much depth. The chemistry between them is very sweet and never rang false. The rest of the acting is also well above average, with the standout being Alyssa Gervasi, who gives one of the most natural, heart tugging and relatable child performances seen recently. Really identified with all three characters and appreciated that neither were written too perfectly or had flaws taken to extremes, personally found Amanda developed very well. Kathryn Kohut and Randy Thomas make the most of what they have.
It is a lovely looking film, one of the best looking 2022 Hallmark films on the whole. And not just the lush scenery, but also the colourful fashions and jewellery (Wallace looks fabulous throughout). The script doesn't come over as too cheesy or sentimental, flows at least and sounds like everyday conversation. Loved the chemistry between Wallace and Gervasi, which had a lot of heart. The story is light hearted and heart-warming with a sweet and not too neat ending, while any conflicting feelings were relatable this time rather than frustrating.
Having said that, 'Feeling Butterflies' is not perfect by any stretch. Really do have to agree about the CGI, both about its overuse and how jarringly cheap it looks. Also about the information on the butterflies, it was nice to have some educational value and did enjoy learning about butterflies but everything about the monarch butterflies and caterpillars is just sloppy.
While loving the leads, the supporting characters are not near as interesting or as likeable, with the rivals tending to annoy and the father's lack of support and sympathy was a turn off. There is too much of the competing businesses and it came over as really childish and petty in delivery rather than having any real tension. The music has some pleasantness but is too loud.
Concluding, decent film but wasn't wowed by it. 6/10.

I am so disappointed because I love Kayla and Kevin and think they are both great actors. I can't believe I am evening saying this but I didn't feel like there is chemistry between them, which is odd, considering they are a real life couple. I have seen them in other things with more chemistry than this portrayed. So I blame the story. I thought it was a cute concept but then it didn't go anywhere for me, there was so depth, the character development was lacking all the way around. And I felt yucky watching him be emotionally unavailable and leading her on and her pining after him. I thought we were done with those story lines, Hallmark. I definitely want to see them in more movies together and hopefully better stories!

Too much CGI. Too much juvenile competing between the supposedly grown women running butterfly businesses. Emily's father and best guy friend are too invested in her finding a husband. Garrett's father wants him to find a wife. The ex-girlfriend is too intent on her vision of reuniting and living the life she wants. The leads are too busy letting past lives keep them from moving forward, or being just too cute for words. The information about butterflies was the best part of the movie.

I didn't know this was an actual thing- butterflies at parties? Not only is it strange one person has a company but that this small town has TWO of these companies?! In competition?! It was kinda cool except for the very fake cgi that made me laugh throughout the movie. The story was okay- main character is attracted to a single dad and a daughter who loves butterflies. Then her nemesis who uses moths to supplement the number of butterflies and they are competing for some rich person's party. I wonder if this is an environmental problem? It didn't sound like they were picking butterflies that were native? It seemed based on colour? Would the excessive number (especially the last party) cause and ecological collapse if they had a bunch of caterpillars that are all the plants?

I don't believe all the '10' ratings. Over done CGI. The need to outdo her competition next door at the little girl's birthday party, was so childish. And the 'adult' lady with the other butterfly business was like a spiteful teenybopper. The two leads rolling in the mud, and having a mud fight was stupid. Ridiculous and super childish. Not impressed at all. The movie couldn't hold my attention very long. I also cannot believe the main actors source of income. Even their chemistry left much to be desired. The whole thing was unbelievable. There have been some Hallmark movies I have liked, but mostly their movies are duds. Am I waiting in vain to be delightfully surprised again? Other reviewers have said at least it had some educational info on butterflies. But another reviewer said the information on butterflies is all untrue. So to sum up my review: misleading and childish with few redeeming qualities.

Such a beautiful movie, the writing was sweet and heartfelt, the cast is adorable, especially Kevin and Kayla, they seemed very much at ease and natural together (especially since Kayle once said she has the giggles when she has to act opposite him), the butterflies/CGI was beautiful and so was the scenery. I hope they will make more movies together!

I enjoy Hallmark perhaps for the cheese it brings or the bad CGI,despite the technology of today.
Had to laugh she so casually would allow a kid to takeover a party while she walks away with dad,real responsible not like she had training prior.
The lead couple has good chemistry,which is because they are a couple in real life.
The actors & acting was decent enough,to help carry a rather average script.
Between the dad and friend it got ridiculous how they kept pushing a relationship,after all it was mentioned of her heartbreak.
Cinematography is always ok,but why does Hallmark feel music needs to overtake the dialog.. Whoever does the mixing,needs to balance it better.
Even though so much was fake,it was still nice seeing the butterflies.
Is the a movie to watch,again? Unfortunately no.

A bit of a fresh take

The story had a ton of possibilities and turns out pretty well. The butterflies give the story a fresh approach and a little wonder too. A widower and daughter always appeal to me opposite the romantic leading lady.
The two actors from When Calls the Heart, Kayla Wallace and Kevin McGarry had chemistry and seeing their characters develop their relationship is nice. McGarry is already appearing on a regular basis in Hallmark movies. I have liked Wallace's Fiona, looking forward to seeing her in other things. I hope this movie is a sign that she will become a regular in movies for them.

Kevin & Kayla are great actors but goodness this movie was hard to watch. So much CGI! Silly dialogue. I feel like there was little to no research done on butterflies for this movie. I would only recommend this to people who need something to fall asleep to. Let's get these 2 together on a more serious film.

Except for Kayla & Kevin I thought the movie was a bust...but...we surprisingly made it all the way through.
The CGI of the butterfly's was terrible. The movie was too juvenile in nature, even being portrayed by the leads, but their chemistry made up for much of the negatives.
Everyone watches movies thru different lenses, I get it, and my viewing lense is different as well, that being said I was surprised with all the "10" ratings yet at the time of my review the movie only garnered an overall 6.4. I usually overrate movies so I was surprised with myself with my lackluster poor review.
But, we made it all the way through.

Beautiful movie, well played, funny, good acting, chemistry. A bit idealistic, fairy like every Hallmark family movie, but very enjoyable. More focus on the quality, originality and realism is what they continue to lack. The fake butterflies seemed a bit to obvious. Kathryn Kohut was great, hope to see her in a lead role, even with Kevin McGarry himself. I would have seen their pairing even more believable. They were great anyhow.

Apart from some rather dubious CGI butterflies and the writers overdoing the humour at times, this settles into itself and becomes a rather lovely Hallmark film.
It doesn't hurt that the leads are together in real life, but in actual fact the storyline holds up well enough too in order to make the most of this chemistry.
It mostly follows the tried and tested Hallmark structure in terms of this sort of film, but there are some nice little added touches that elevate it along the way, with the foe that becomes friend being one such example.
Overall, I enjoyed this, I thought it was a good example of a Hallmark film.

A movie about butterflies that had ZERO correct information about butterflies

This is a movie about butterflies, and so there should've been research done. It appears that it was released with a first grader's knowledge! There are way too many errors to correct, but here are just two. 1) The little girl said she found a caterpillar, which was a monarch caterpillar, in the woods. Monarchs only eats milkweed, and absolutely it will not grow unless it is in full sun, so you will never find a caterpillar from a monarch butterfly in the woods. 2) when a monarch caterpillar gets the disease 0E, Emily looks under a microscope. The image they show is not microscopic first of all, but also you do not need a microscope to see OE. The parasite blackens the caterpillar and it's very evident. But most importantly, the caterpillar that they show is not a monarch at all! Monarchs have horizontal bands of colors and are smooth, but this caterpillar had vertical stripes and spikes! I'm really horrified at the lack of research that was done, which would probably have taken 30 minutes tops. But I have to mention another blatant error, which was when Emily was in front of a class towards the end teaching, and had a brochure showing a monarch caterpillar and what the monarch butterfly looks like. It was the wrong butterfly!! What could have been a very different story for Hallmark couldn't have looked more amateur.

This movie has it all, competition, humor, serious conversations, even a tearful moment. It was shot in a beautiful location and had a unique story surrounding raising and releasing butterflies. While there may have been a few scientific inaccuracies, overall the story more than made up for it. Kevin McGarry and Kayla Wallace had wonderful chemistry. Many fans know how extremely talented McGarry is, so it was great to see Wallace in a lead role and watch her shine. She made us feel emotions, something McGarry has mastered. This movie had some wonderful supporting and side characters says well. I always hope to see more movies with McGarry as the lead male and now want to see more of Wallace as female lead as well. And I would love to see more of them paired together, as well as with other leads. I loved how this was uplifting and heartfelt, something that has been lacking in some of the other Hallmark movies in 2020-2022, other than the Wedding Veil Trilogy which was excellent.

I wanted to like this movie as I do like the two lead actors. It took four viewings to get past the first spoiled brat, stick it to your rival who has the audacity to run a competitive business and blow off your own job and the guy who hired you. She looked like and adult, but acted like a spoiled four year old, and it didn't get better as the movie droned on. Why do so called romance movies tend to infantize the women? This movie took that unfortunate trend to new heights.

The weakest spot in this story is the lack of conversation about Amanda's feelings concerning her schooling, and where she might want to live. She plays a pretty big role in the film, but until one of the last scenes we don't hear that her heart is in the town she's been living in with her father, even though she's been pretty vocal in other situations in the film.
How does an ex-girlfiend of the dad swoop in after an apparent two year absence and try to take over the lives of these two people without a peep from the child involved? I think the script writers get to take the blame for that.
The acting was well done, particularly the natural chemistry between the leads. It's too bad they didn't have a stronger script.

Let me say Kevin and Kayla do have great chemistry: I mean they are dating in real life. Their scenes are well played together.
However, this script is so bad. First off, why in these hallmark movies does the "mean girl" who is always an adult, act like a juvienille child?? Its really embarrassing and you ask yourself, is this the way we portray people we don't get along with, as these mean girls who are outrageous and want their way or the highway?
Emily's rivalry with the mean girl is just a waste of time.
Secondly- all of the CGI butterflies was sad too, as others have mentioned.
Give the actors better scripts to work with, it cant be that difficult.

I genuinely don't understand the high praises for this movie. The inaccuracies of Monarch information, lack of chemistry, three mean women, the slow storyline didn't work for me. Who knew the butterfly party business was so cutthroat. I know When Calls the Heart fans were excited about the two leads sharing the screen, but I just didn't feel the butterflies.

The chemistry between the leads (who are apparently dating in real life) is great. Kayla is great as the lead and holds her own with Kevin who has been the male lead in other movies. The little girl was adorable. It was also fun because I got a bit of an education on butterflies! It was shot beautifully and I recommend it.

Having seen the trailer I thought this would be much better than it was. Kevin McGarry is actually a very good leading man but really needs better material than this. Kayla Wallace did as well as someone could with the generic, clichéd script. And for a pair who are together in real life, the kiss at the end was so passionless it looked like two people who had never kissed before!
