Better without the sound, also unintentionally funny
jdollak18 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Last night, I was unable to sleep. I put this movie on around midnight. To less disturb my wife's sleep, I kept the sound off.

And this movie was watchable. The script seemed okay, not remarkable at all. Once the action kicks off, the movie gets ridiculous.

Our protagonist is supposed to be an incredible fighter. That's fine. She uses her legs in combat a lot. That's also fine. But her kicks include some bizarre kicks that would not be effective.

Also, without the sound, attention is drawn to how poor the action choreography is. There's a lot of follow-through on punches, and characters that are being hit don't have proper reaction to it. This is hard to explain in words, but the result is easy to notice.

The action is even more conspicuous by the large amount of cuts during any of these sequences. The same hit will be shown in quick succession. I suppose you don't want to waste multiple cameras shooting a scene.

The plot of it isn't terribly special. It's hard to call the family a cult. More like an underground business. They harvest blood from people while torturing them, which releases some chemicals into blood, making the blood into some sort of rejuvenating potion.

The longer the movie goes on, the action gets more ridiculous, and culminates in the fantastic decision to have the protagonist literally punch through her ex-boyfriend, clutching his heart. The way this is shot doesn't feel like it was intended to be funny.

From there, she goes on to fighting the big bad, and... the fight ends with the villain accidentally causing her own heart attack.

So, no satisfying conclusion.

I returned to the movie later and listened to some of the performances, and other reviewers are correct. It appears that every character is hamming their lines up.

My favorite little thing - the sister turns her back and looks away from other characters twice in an effort to look cool. It's conspicuous, and it happens only so that the character can turn around dramatically.

Go on vacation they said, it's good for your mental health they said.

Warning: Spoilers
The plot is that some scumbags like to take blood with adrenochrome from people. They sell this to dirtbags like the hunter with the stupid hat. They also like to hunt people in their playground area. This is where the showdown happens.

Some of the acting is just so bad. The dialog between the idiot in the hat and the blonde was just cringeworthy. Sometimes you wonder what good acting is, well I don't really know but bad acting really stands out. It's like they just speak the words with a weird unnatural cadence like there is not an ounce of sincerity behind it. The parents are really weak characters. Actually they're all really weak.

Our heroine kicks ass through all of them and it's satisfying to see them get put down.

It's a fun movie.

Bucket. Now.
nogodnomasters11 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The film opens by showing us the antagonist (Marta Svetek) bleeding a victim. We know this is a cult from the masks and a buck skull on a tree. We then shift to our final girl Erin (Hannaj Bang Bendz) the title girl. We later discover she is on rage control medication. She was an abduction victim and tortured for 14 years. She is going to meet her boyfriend Adam's (Derek Nelson) parents. They meet up with his brother Michael (Luke Aquilina) and his gold digger girlfriend du jour Sarah (Antonia Whillans). The trip will take a day and a half which is odd for Scotland which is 274 miles across at its widest point. As you might guess the two plots come together as they plan to turn the girls into victims, harvesting them for their youth making adrenachrome. Erin who has gone to the Uma Thurman School of Fighting has a few surprises for them.

PLOT SPOILER. The film actually has no surprises. Escape. Recapture. Escape. Final one-on-one protagonist/antagonist fight. It can't be any different. Decent for the genre.

Decent plot but terrible acting
aartadventure2 August 2023
First, let me say that this objectively a bad movie. But, if you enjoy the horror genre (and maybe thriller), it's worth putting on in the background, or when wanting to fall asleep.

The writing and plot is decent enough, and somewhat believable. So I gave this 3 stars for that entertainment value. However, the acting is just so poor that it is hard to feel even remotely concerned for the victims. Almost every actor without fail sounds exactly like they are either reading directly from the script, or they think that acting involves being as camp and over the top as possible.

There are many fight scenes in this movie, and unfortunately all of them look very fake. Punches that don't connect, sound effects that don't match correctly to the cause of the sound, and massive windups that look almost comical when certain weapons are used. Seriously, the person being hit should have been able to just casually step aside half the time.

Overall, this movie had the foundation to be something really great due to a compelling background for the lead actress, and the bf's family as well. But both of those things are only ever vaguely alluded to. The audience is left struggling to care about anyone, and half the time hoping they will all just die and the movie ends.

Do NOT pay to watch this. But if you are really bored or multitasking, its vaguely interesting.

What was that!?
simoncoram-067666 August 2023
Beats me how they manage to raise the money to make films like this, it really does.

Most of the characters are supposed to be yanks, but that changes by the sentence.

The family settled in Scotland in the 1800s, but inexplicably don't even speak with a Scottish accent.

There's the token macho tough guy, who just has to display his oiled up biceps at all times, despite this being Scotland, and my god does it get cold up there!

There's also the preposterous storyline involving drinking blood to prolong life.

The heroine, an extremely scrawny and emaciated lady, somehow has superhuman strength.

For all these reasons this just ain't worth your time.

Very sad day for filmmaking
rotini-5258615 August 2023
Wow...just wow how bad this movie is. The acting is just so horrible. The characters are all pathetic....the storyline is just so stupid. Selling blood to customers ? So ludicrous. You try to like the main actress and the revenge factor, the the story is just so stupid that you really don't care about any of it. How these movies get financed is beyond me. People really don't have anything else to do with their money besides make this garbage ? Unbelievably, I managed to waste 90 minutes of my life watching this absolute trash. Avoid this horrible junk at all cost...stupid stupid movie. The end.

Wow...just WOW...this is SO BAD! Is it a spoof?!
grahamdrummond-8388731 December 2023
Everyone on this movie ought to be ashamed of it's release. From writers, directors, producers, casting, actors, stunt co-ordinators, extras, musicmake up, make-up et al! I would suggest taking their names off the credits.

This is just so bad from start to finish. 'RAGE'... haha the most rage on display is when the main character is 'pranked', by a girl lying on the floor pretending to be dead.

Is this meant to be a spoof on the genre? The fight scenes are so laughably slow and choreographed, it makes the action in 'Shaun of the dead' positively action packed and fast paced. Sorry did I say Shaun of the dead? I meant just dead people laying on the floor is more fast paced.

Give it a miss!

No rage, just boredom...
paul_haakonsen15 August 2023
Right, well the rather low rating that this 2023 movie had been getting was definitely something that spoke against sitting down to watch what director David Ryan Keith had to offer with "I Am Rage". However, I opted to sit down and watch the movie nonetheless, since it was a movie that I hadn't already seen.

And I managed to suffer through a bit more than half of the movie, then I just tossed the towel in the ring. I was literally bored out of my mind, because the narrative in the movie was insanely slow paced, devoid of anything interesting and just generally lacking appeal. So writers Stephen Durham and David Ryan Keith failed to deliver anything worthwhile watching here.

Needless to say that I wasn't familiar with anyone on the cast list in "I Am Rage", nor can I claim that I was impressed with the performances that I saw on the screen. I am sure that the actors and actresses were talented enough, but they virtually had nothing worthwhile to work with in terms of script, storyline, dialogue and character gallery.

I have zero interest in returning to attempt to watch the rest of "I Am Rage", because I just simply found no entertainment in the storyline, and I didn't care one bit about the one-dimensional cardboard characters.

My rating of "I Am Rage" lands on a one out of ten stars.

The hunters become the hunted in this trashily violent drama
Tweekums7 January 2024
As this film opens a man is held captive. He is tormented before his throat is cut and his blood drained into a bucket. The action then cuts to protagonist Erin; she has been invited for a weekend away with her boyfriend at his parent's remote house in the Scottish Highlands. On the way she learns that his brother and his girlfriend as well as his sister are to be there. When they arrive we see that his parents were the killers from the opening scene. It soon becomes apparent that the 'girlfriends' are intended to be the next victims. What they didn't reckon on was the fact that Erin was kidnapped before and now fuelled by perpetual rage she is more than a match for them.

This is not a great movie but if you are in the mood for trashy violence then it is rather fun. There aren't too many surprises; the opening scene lets us know the parents are murderous and we are soon informed of the reasons they want to blood. The only real question is how the various bad guys are going to die. The action is nicely varied and fairly bloody but unfortunately the fights don't feel real as we can see that blows come nowhere near hitting their target. The acting is okay; a bit of hamminess adds some unintended humour to proceedings. The setting is good although one would expect some of the characters to sound at least vaguely Scottish. Overall I'd say this is fun enough if you are in the mood for an hour and a half of trashy violence.

Don't expect too much.
tarquindelmonte29 December 2023
A low budget movie, not a bad sound track, but weak acting and effects lets it down. Also the character in the cowboy hat has an amusing resemblance to Gary Glitter from the 70's british rock scene, it's an unfortunate look for him!

It's one of those movies that intrigues, you have to watch it despite the shortfalls to find out what happens.

Filmed in the Highlands of Scotland, it's a great advertisement for the beautiful landscape up there and, surprisingly, the weather appeared to be kind during the shoot.

The lodge location is available to hire should you want to experience the wilderness of the Highlands.

Overall, if you have nothing else worth watching this is worth a try, just don't expect a blockbuster.

Kinda fun
roneshaholloway-6752618 November 2023
The critics are being too hard on this. It's a certain type of movie that you either mess with or you don't. I actually liked it! You can't go into something like this expecting a masterpiece and it was way better than expected. I mean maybe because I'm all for a woman kicking men's butts but I thought the fight scenes were pretty good for a low budget film and I liked the main characters back story. All except for the last couple of unbelievable deaths which got a bit campy, It was fun at the least. Nothing more to really say! I don't like that this thing is making me try and find things to say to meet the word requirement.

Discount 'Ready or Not'
bowmanblue1 February 2024
I actually quite liked the premise of this one... a nasty ol' bloody-drinking cult kidnap young men and women and steal their life essence. Only this time the adduct the wrong woman - someone with extreme anger issues and who definitely needs stronger antidepressants.

It's a nice idea and was enjoyable enough as a simple B-movie, but my main complaint was that it could probably have been much better. When the two female protagonists are lured to the mansion, there are some major red flags that all is not good. If you're relaxing in the bath and some old woman sneaks in and pretends to be your boyfriend and starts washing your hair and when you try and say something, starts yanking it painfully. Plus their hosts don't let them change clothes in days (would any woman really put up with not changing clothes for that period of time and just not say anything?!) and when it comes to dinner, their hosts seem only too keen for them to drink dodgy-looking liquid with glee.

The first half was pretty slow, but it gets a lot better in the second half when the bodies start piling up. There's not too much gore, but the practical effects are simple and realistic. However, its major let-down was its dialogue. The two female leads are pretty good, but all the bad guys just come across as cliches and one-dimensional evil dudes with no real depth, other than to be the antagonist. The spout cliched villain lines at every turn and are more of a joke than the serious film probably wants them to be.

There's a bit of over-the-top gore at the end that feels a bit out of place, baring in mind the limits the characters were capable of during the film's runtime and you may have to suspend your disbelief for that one. But, despite its faults, overall the film is a solid little watch if you have nothing better to do and fancy some mindless hunting/action. But, if you have 'Ready or Not' in your collection, probably best to watch that - it's better in every department and a very similar premise.

I am bored
karlevans-7568210 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So who actually decided this movie would be a good idea?

I had to fast forward this movie and manage to watch the best bits (there aren't any) it actually came in at under 56 minutes. So the plot in a nutshell odd family who drink blood and hunt people for sport abduct the wrong person This time and end up dealing with a female psychopath who has been abducted before so she's an old hand at escaping and getting her own back.

It's all played rather straight face no comedy not even one crack to raise a smile!

The movie is seriously messed up from start to finish baddies are bad and I mean bad actors, fight sequences are no better than play fighting and over the top gore factor is plainly laughable (no joke).

Don't waste your time read the reviews they are better than the movie and that's no joke 😏

WTF
craig-4941811 January 2024
Is this supposed to be serious?! Could someone please give me the money it cost to make this movie?

Because I'm sure I could make something just as laughable. What an embarrassing attempt at movie making.

And where are we getting actors these days? Rhetorical question. There were no actors in this movie.

Also, I don't understand why the accents came and went, almost like they forgot they were trying to speak with American accents? Hard to tell what they were trying, not sure they knew either.

At a 4.9 IMDB rating,I was not expecting anything oscar worthy, and I'm not sure this is even Razzy worthy. Is there something below Razzy?

One scene really heard this movie because it didn't make sense at all
eprusulis2 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So Erin supposed to be superhuman. She took on the gate. Both of the brothers killed one of them and then she faces Margaret and gets knocked unconscious in one second that doesn't that completely doesn't make sense at all and it really hurts the movie because you're making Erin like into the super human person, but all the sudden Margaret's able to knock her out with like two punches. So that one's seen kills the whole storyline. Plus, they don't explain how Erin turned superhuman. They also don't explain how the whole family is able to live for hundreds of years and they don't explain how Margaret is so much stronger than all the other things foundation.p.

Not the best, but slightly interesting
DynaGirl0611 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
If you have a chance to read @aartadventure's review, do it. That one sums up nearly everything I wanted to say.

Going it over in my head at the end, I guess it had a decent plot idea that reminded me of 'Get Out' or 'The Invitation.' With better acting, more believable fight scenes, and maybe just a little more muscle on our lean leading lady, they might have pulled it off. Unfortunately, lack of those features made it less entertaining (although I did make it to the end).

Erin (leading lady) doesn't save even one of the other victims. I felt like our hero should have saved at least one person besides herself.

What In The World?
pedrorivera-6834031 March 2024
To be honest, this should've been a short film. However, with a different Production Company and Director, it could've had potential especially dealing with the main protagonist who seemed to be able to fight pretty well. The action sequences were sloppy, the storyplot lacked big time with loads of gaps, and I'm sure the editing probably would not have given it any justice either.

Sure, having a female lead would have been successful had it made more sense, but it failed in almost every avenue. Hannaj Bendz needs another shot with a different Production Company- she's actually not bad at all.

Low Key, but Fun
michaelarscott7624 December 2023
Some years ago, I remember watching BECKY. This movie has some of the feels from that other movie. It doesn't speed through at all. A big action film, this is not. It's a slow burn that will deliver on most of its promises, but asks for a little work along the way.

But they do put in a couple of really odd and surly performances to keep you busy with the obvious: are all these people after the same thing?

In my humble opinion, you can't ask much more from a film that encompasses The Hunt with a touch of Becky and Wolf's Creek. It delivers its biggest promises, even though it falls short of making some of the bad guys as "bad" as they can be.

Sad
solidabs8 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This movie could've been great. Nudity would've helped this immensely. This is my favorite type of movie. The UK always makes garbage movies though. Dont get me wrong USA makes plenty of garbage too, but I rarely like a UK flick. This had a chance. I mean sexy main character. Her little buddy was hot. The fighting choreography was just horrendous. Soo Bad lol. They ruined the whole movie by the blonde hag being a better fighter than Erin. And lol what the hell happened to the hag. She's unbeatable and then what?? Her heart blows up lol. God just ruined it all. Whoever wrote this movie was a dolt! I gave a 2 because, I love revenge movies. But the director and the writer shouldn't quit their day jobs. Wow. I changed my mind. I watched it again stoned and it's so bad that's its good. I changed my rating to an 8. It pretty damn funny.

Interesting take on the horror/action genre.
jmbovan-47-16017312 December 2023
Interesting take on the horror action genre. This is revenge at its best, when it's not even directed at the specific people who transgressed you. Well, I guess not the original offenders in this movie.

So, slight supernatural set up puts the main character in a human target situation. And she has more than enough to motivate her survival instincts.

Shakey around the plotting as the story isn't well establish, what the supernatural aspect is, but I don't suspect many will be seeking an Oscar for this type of film. And the action choreography is a bit on the slow and tepid side.

Guess I just liked the thought of having come through trauma one could overcome other tough situations.

Girl power
kosmasp11 December 2023
No pun intended - sometimes you make wrong calculations. Which are good to watch as audience member - because someone thought that our main character here is an easy target. You can tell from the beginning that something is off. Not just with the character but the situation she is in. He being off might turn into a good thing ... you'll have to watch to see how that turns out.

But there is also the Dudes - who really almost call it in so hard, that you might wonder if it isn't too obvious ... it still works, the action is well done and the cinematography is also very good. Of course it is flawed - which is a bit too blame on the budget ... still a fine and interesting take ... Rage that is caged.

Started off ok
monica_maclean29 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this film on Prime, I'm not sure if it was a British film or a Scandinavian one supposedly set in The UK. I didn't recognise any of the actors, most had not so great acting skills, although the lead character was reasonable.

It started off ok but got a bit daft towards the middle and end, but I do like a female kick ass film. I'm not sure if the evil family featured were carrying on the bloodline or if they were really old but remained youthful due to their consumption of blood. Lots of things weren't really explained about the family or Erin's almost superpower like fighting skills. Entertaining and not bad for a low budget film.

Did anyone notice the guy in the red jacket wandering past in the background, during the last fight scene between Erin and Margret.

Ok, but seriously not great.
Andy_Aitken2 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I went in to this with some hope, British film makers can create awesome films but this one missed the mark.

I have read that filming locations in and around where they were filming had horrible weather but it doesn't make up for the fact this could have been brought indoors and still been good.

The fight scenes, meh, they were choppy and didn't really hit as a guy who likes fight scenes.

The acting in some parts are really wooden and the story is somewhat predictable, i.e. The character Sarah dying once she's found some strength to fight back.

All in all it's a fun, campy British film but will never be a blockbuster.

Don't mess with Erin.
okpilak28 March 2024
The way the movie started, I felt it might be a real loser. A man, clearly beaten, manages to escape his binds, and then gets into a fight with one of the captors. He manages to get a knife, but hesitates, which of course is a bad idea. It then switches to Adam picking up Erin to go to his parents house, which is very isolated. On the way, they pick up his brother Michael and Sarah. The parents seem a bit strange, and at dinner offer their special drink. Of course it is drugged, as the parents are in the business of harvesting blood, rich in adrenaline, which they get by terrorizing their captives. And they have apparently a basement full of captives. But it turns out Erin is not just some young woman. At age 4, she was kidnapped, tortured and abused for 15 years before she could make her escape. And her captors didn't fare well. There is plenty of gore, blood and killings which should satisfy most viewers. It is basically an action film to be accepted on that basis.
