I really need someone to explain to me what happened in the last episode especially the last 15 minutes!!!! 😭😭 I loved the mystery that was found in the drama, but can't give it 10 stars because I didn't understand anything literally 😭😭😭

Quite an interesting sci-fi K-Drama
zinemamoviemedia12 May 2022
Grid offers something new and fresh and better than some monotonous Hollywood sci-fi series. The story is not very good but the element of mystery managed to keep me going until the end of the episode.

What happened?
hjennifer-3251423 November 2022
This series was probably 3 episodes too long. The first six/seven episodes flowed nicely, and I felt, were engaging. I felt episodes 8 and 9 were just efforts to extend the story. Still entertaining, but, much less so than the previous episodes. Then you had the last episode...Lord...As others have remarked, the last episode made no sense. I just finished watching it and I am totally confused. The story up until the end was original. As with most Korean movies/series, the acting was great. I deducted stars from my rating for the above reasons. Just go in knowing you will be shaking your head at the ending.

Well done except for Intro flashback
dumsumdumfai20 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The Intro looks as if tacked on after thought. As if some producer might have complained about not explaining the back story. Then the transition into the factory happened was probably the original opening. So it was confusing.

Once it started into the convenient store murder then everything was moving at a good clip. The female cop is a good character and the mystery behind male researcher's own personal agenda adds to the story.

The action scene are well coordinated. Like the murderers escape from the building, exchange of water bottle, and the subway chase. Even the initial hesitation at the murder scene is well thought out.

I'm 5 episode in and it's a tightly directed thriller. But of course this is SciFi so hope the explanation don't cheap out. Well, most scifi is more about story and characters. The crux shouldn't depend on a scientific explanation, that's what I meant.

Up to ep.9. Relentless pace slows down a bit at ep7 as he travels back in trying to fix things. But things quickly ramps up when the new reality sets in after the explosion. The crucial linkage shows up in esp. 9 so how it's gonna get resolved? Tense indeed.

10. Season 1. The end is like other American shows....raises more questions to hook you in. A bit of down grade as somethings make no sense.

Keeps my interest
blueeyesncaly21 January 2023
First let me start by saying I really appreciate there being an English version to watch. It's hard to watch subtitles for an extended period of time. I wish more foreign films would offer this option. I'd bet a lot more English speakers would watch the show providing they know it's an option. I just happened to try to watch it and thought I would have to deal with subtitles. What a pleasant surprise to find out that I do not. I am a lover of sci-fi so this is right up my alley. I just started watching the series yesterday and it has caught my interest. I am enjoying watching it. It's got a medium action flow to it. If you like sci-fi mystery then this is the show for you.

Well made, high budget but ultimately a bit empty
oscosc-7858630 August 2022
This is clearly a well-budgeted and well-made show.

However, I was left feeling out of place with it constantly. Maybe it's my fault - I did watch it sporadically so I kept having to catch up with the thread of the story.

Nevertheless I just didn't connect with it and didn't feel the sense of danger that (I presume) I was supposed to feel.

The acting is fine and it's full of nice shots and cinematography. But it all felt very clinical - even with the subtitles (I find dubbing often puts me off) and left me baffled why I should care.

A complex story really needs to get you involved and this one doesn't. So you're left with no reason to invest the time. However, I did manage to watch the entire show, but the final episodes felt more like a duty than a fun.

If they do a second series I may give it a try... there are the seeds of a good show in there.

Great
hsujavier-3451529 April 2022
I loved it, there were moments when the drama got me a little confused, but I think they have done a good production job, they handled the special effects very well, the actors played their roles very well, the series did not focus on too many advanced technologies , I like it better that they are less excessive, sometimes too many fictional details distract the viewer from following the story.

I don't think the budget for this series was high, it's a shame that the marks on the cars couldn't be seen, in those details I feel that a bit of realism is lost. And finally, the last chapter was very crazy, many ups and downs, the end I did not understand much but I still enjoyed it.

I love Kdrama, there is some great movies and TV shows out there.. but this just failed to keep me entertained.

Sci-fi is a genre that can easily fall flat if its logic is weak and requires too much suspension of disbelief and this does just that.

suprisingly good, after slow start

Really nice classic korean-crime-series.

I like the acting, the sound and the concept!

Koreans really know, how to make drama/crime stuff

this series reminds me of good korean-series stuff.

Very well narrative from ep. 1-9 but poorly written on the last episode
nattapolboo21 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I was usually very hype on this kinda sci-fi, time-traveler movie/tv show but for this show I would say it a waste of time, the tension and mystery their build up through out the ep.1-9 was very entertaining but what is the point of that if you didn't come up with any explanation at all. Moreover, they tried to sell us with a more mysterious people from the future (for the ss2 maybe) but I have no interest of watching the ss2 at all mate.

Everything is Excellent Except for ..

THE ENDING EXPLAINED !!! ( A bit spoilers alert )

The ghost and masked man materialize there at the time. While the agents are informed about the existence of the Ghost, the moment they are about to start firing, the two create two force fields and pause the time. The Ghost telepathically speaks with Sae-Byeok and asks whether she came to save Sae-Ha, and the answer becomes pretty self-evident.

After this devastating sequence, we see Eo-Jin dropping Sae-Byeok off at her house and later having a heartfelt conversation with her. He also learns that he had died in an alternate timeline, and Sae-Ha sacrificed himself to save him. Cut to a year later, where we see Sae-Byeok with her kid. Eo-Jin suddenly drops in and urges her to tag along with her. He even knows her daughter's name, which surprises her since they hadn't spoken about the daughter. He mentions that she told him the name, which indicates perhaps Eo-Jin has come there from a different timeline.

While they drive off, the bureau's buildings get engulfed in flames after a flash of blue light hits them. When the two reach a warehouse, the door opens to show Sae-Ha, and the Ghost comes out, and then all of them enter this place. The ending, like any other episode from the season, ends on a cliffhanger. Besides an effort to save herself (since she is connected to Sae-Byeok through ancestry), there is hardly any more conclusion I can gather from the scene.

Not Good Enough
PennyReviews8 June 2022
Korean Drama " Grid " had a nice, atmospheric start, with a moody story, a mysterious ghost woman, and an even more secretive company that kept the grid (?) under control.

And even though there was potential for this drama, with smooth and excellent performances by the main leads, but also by the supporting cast, and the sci-fi CGI were all well handled, the story was too much for nothing. The main plot didn't make any sense in the end, with all the time-traveling, the grid technology, and the generations' medley. It somehow felt less, compared to what the drama seemed to build up to.

So, overall, 4 out of 10.

GREAT SHOW but something's MISSING somehow
ntgselucy22 January 2024
It's got the potential to be the best, but what happened?

The first episode was promising and I expected it to continue doing so but went slow and stagnant for few episodes instead. I know they were up to something, and you can see they're leading up to it...but I guess they got confused on how. I mean the plot was great, acting was awesome, casts got chemistry, and editing was good; but the sequence and flow of events were not confusing which was great but they're rather bland. The timing was off somehow, specially the first few episodes, but it did pick up. But when things picked up during the last episodes, it felt rushed specially compared to the first episodes, but they could have intended for that to happen. I just wish they didn't, just so they could have accomplished a much better suspense in the end.

The dark feel and atmosphere of the show was either good or bad or both, depending on the viewer; mysterious or boring, intellectual or pretentious; but still interesting. But its still a great show despite the botched timing or presentation or division of events. I'm really looking forward for a second season.

If season 2 will happen and it really should, they could bring in more viewers if they make things better than the first season. This could really be huge.

Amateur hour K drama
amwilburn-6013115 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Grid (2022) Wow. I've never been more disappointed in a K Drama that I actually finished (There are a few I can't get past the 1st episode, like Memories of Alhambra, and more I just can't muster the will to finish like Glitch, Stranger season 2)

First of all, this is a great concept: time travel. Is there a "best" outcome if we're trying to save as many people as possible? Right up my alley. With good production values, mostly good acting (except Kim Sung Kyun's Ma Nok. But was great in DP. Along with the entire cast. Conclusion? I believe poor directing is to blame here,) So how does this go so wrong? Everything feels non sequitur as we are introduced to a world where solar flares would be fatal to much of the world population. Fortunately, a ghost swoops in and erects a global grid to save mankind, just in the nick of time!

The time travel mystery grows deeper as it turns out the saviour of mankind also killed someone that night, and then she reappears 20 years later to save a criminal.

This had so much potential, but the editing and directing was so poor, there wasn't an identifiable character for the first 30 minutes or so. The Foley was also surprisingly awful, starting with computer keyboards that clack much too loudly and not on sync with the onscreen action.

I feel this could've been a good series or movie in someone else's hands, but here it was a waste of Disney+ bandwidth.

Instead of pondering the morality of finding the best time line, I'm just left wondering where my time went

D-, 4/10.

Messy
Park_Min4 March 2024
It started with a lousy introduction that was too ambitious on paper and then began to jump between one plot after another until the end. There was a desperate need for a better coherent structure and pacing. The characters were more or less fine but, despite being one of the most important characters, the ghost lacked a better characterization to make her role more impactful. The last 1-2 episodes were fundamentally bad, their main purpose was to lay down a handful of new elements for an imaginary sequel. This is a bad common practice streaming services have been pulling since forever to keep hold of the viewers attention regardless if they were planning for a sequel or not. The only acceptable scenario for such a practice is to have a direct sequel to follow it. Anyway, the drama was very mediocre Sci-Fi with a handful of failures.

Yet another time travel mess
Snootz11 October 2023
This series is slow-moving, convoluted, confusing and makes no sense. It is an example of the worst of time travel plots and scripts, things happening without explanation, time paradoxes, time-repeats, etc.

The acting is good, but the script and slow-moving, confusing nature of the entire series turns this into one huge chunk of "WHAT?". The last time I saw a time travel plot this bad was in an Asylum film... but one expects Asylum to be terrible. The plot was interesting in places, unnecessarily gruesome in others, and the deja vu trope gets old fast.

The series starts off semi-interesting, but with each episode it just gets more and more confusing. Perhaps the final few episodes made no sense because they plan on a second season... but considering what we've seen so far and the very slow moving and confusing plot... I won't be watching it. I liked the characters, the actors and the overall concept... but it's just poorly executed and poorly explained, leaving the viewer wondering "What just happened?".
