This Friday will see the release the Manoj Bajpayee starrer Traffic, a film that mirrors the ordeals faced by the traffic cops and how they rise to the occasions in order to fulfil their duties. As a gesture of gratitude, Manoj Bajpayee had gifted the traffic cops 'reflector jackets', which will be extremely useful for them while on duty. In addition to that, Manoj Bajpayee and the entire team of Traffic had held a special screening of the film for the traffic personnel yesterday in Mumbai. Sunil Paraskar (Mumbai's Additional Commissioner-Traffic), who had attended the trailer launch of the film earlier, said that Traffic was one of the best films that he had ever seen so far. He added that they (the traffic department) will have to now match up with what Manoj Bajpayee had done in the film, as people's expectations from the Traffic Police department would be much more after seeing the film.

Soon after completing Traffic his first feature film in Hindi, Rajesh Pillai died a sudden and shocking death at age 41. Manoj Bajpayee still can't believe Pillai was gone so soon. "I am still in shock and disbelief. I just can't come to terms with the fact that he is gone so suddenly. Rajesh was such a passionate filmmaker. He gave priority to his cinema over everything else, including his health. Now that we are looking at the release of the film I miss him more than ever. God bless his soul." The Bengali superstar Prosenjit returns to Hindi films after his much applauded role in Dibakar Bannerjee's Shanghai. Says Prosenjit, "It was really sad to see Rajesh Pillai leave us so suddenly. With the release of the Traffic trailer earlier today, fans finally got their first look at what this movie will turn out to be. At the launch event today, Manoj Bajpayee felicitated a team of police officials who managed to carry out a similar feat. In August of 2015, police officials were faced with the task of transporting a human heart for which they managed to create what’s known as a Green corridor which is a single lane along the route where all the signals are green on the way that took close to 150 personnel working in co-ordination to achieve. After a mixed bag of a summer, Premium Rush is a welcome surprise at the cinema. Arriving at the midpoint of the “Year of Joseph Gordon-Levitt”, Premium Rush takes a simple story and adds enough visual flair and inventiveness to make it worth checking out.
Premium Rush follows Wilee (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a New York City bicycle messenger who ends up carrying a package that Bobby Monday (Michael Shannon), a dirty police cop, needs badly. The setup is simple and leads to ninety-minutes of chasing with more and more people joining in at every turn. By the end of the movie the only people missing from the chase are a marching band.
The plot of Premium Rush didn’t sound that appealing to me, and probably won’t to most other people, but the film is amplified by the execution. David Koepp (writer of Jurassic Park and...

Chicago – We’re looking for cowboy heroes in America, and a new film contends that the urban bike messenger could represent that long lost persona. This unlikely theory is the basis for “Premium Rush,” and it features Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Shannon, Aasif Mandvi and Dania Ramirez.
Rating: 3.0/5.0
The life of a bike messenger in this film involves a parallel universe of the adrenaline junkie riding the plane, nobly following a code that is unwavering to money, authority and the laws of gravity. “Premium Rush” is riddled with archetypes like the twitchy dispatcher, the over-competitive rival, the wise old messenger and the hates-him-until-she-loves-him relationship. Actor Michael Shannon adds a bit of weirdness to the conventional story, but it’s not enough to overcome the soft narrative veneer that pretends to be high octane. It may be the first high octane film that has the ability to induce sleep.
