A Very Moving Episode with an Officer Down
swv-phx18 February 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Congratulations to Kevin Wade, Writer; Jan Eliasberg, director; as well as the Cast of Blue Bloods for the very emotional episode - DEDICATION.

As a former member of law enforcement and a person who watch's practically every police / crime / drama - genre TV Show and movie I can over the past decades; I found this episode one of the top 20 that I recall seeing. The emotions, care, and concerns of all were quite real. There was one major error in that there would have been many more officers not just family at the hospital.

The ending at the actual Dedication with the two sons on the stairs watching and finding the assassin and taking him down so peacefully as their father the commissioner was speaking at the dedication for his Late Son, a fallen officer being honored by the University.

I found this very real and moving and in these very hard times where many an officer has fallen and many more have been fired due to cities not having funds; tonight left me with a feeling of thanks.

Loose cannon Danny hunts for his father's would-be killer
riddlerjc28 June 2017
After Frank is wounded in an assassination attempt, Danny uses his persuasive investigative techniques to find the perpetrator. Along the way we learn about an inglorious event long ago in Frank's career that causes bad feelings in the present day.

Mark Margolis, in a stretch for him, plays a bedridden, bitter, aging crime family boss who's slowly losing his family around him.

The ending is a little unrealistic, otherwise a typical solid outing from the Reagans. Even the brass-knuckles great-grandfather shows his teeth a bit.

We're All Vulnerable Blue Bloods ****

Warning: Spoilers
Another tremendous episode highlights this terrific show. When an attempt to kill Frank is made, the family comes together to find out who committed such a dastardly act. As usual, the first suspect, a drug cartel, is eliminated and then we have to do some really old detective work to see that Frank led a force some 30 years before that resulted in tragedy.

Revenge is on the mind of the mobster who lost so much that fateful day. Yet, when all is settled, Frank still visits the dying mobster to tell him how sorry he was for the events so many years ago.

Mark Wahlberg again steals the show as the tough minded police officer. The ending is out of a Hitchock film, with excitement and potential for another assassination thwarted by the brothers in blue.

One very old grudge
bkoganbing6 October 2016
The police commissioner is nearly killed, in fact Tom Selleck shielded his monsignor friend when the bullets started flying. He was quite lucky to be alive. Of course all the Reagans gather at the hospital. Selleck wants to be up on his feet for a dedication at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

No way are they going to keep Donnie Wahlberg off this investigation even though the acting commissioner says no. And of course he puts it all together.

As it turns out it is one very old grudge by a crime family against the Reagans. See how both Wahlberg and Will Estes work to foil a second attempt. Nice suspenseful action at the end.

Really bad writing.

Warning: Spoilers
Police Commissioner shot. All the police in the city looking for the shooters. Deputy Commissioner won't let Danny help. Of course Danny investigates anyway and he's the only one that can track down and figure it out. Ok, right, let the viewer get caught up in the emotion of the family drama, maybe we won't notice the poor writing. One bad episode doesn't ruin a good show.
