Only if you're bored
columbo-121 December 2017
Awful acting, lots of screaming and a plot that is never explained and you are left to guess. Even the small twist at the end was stolen from another movie. It's something to watch if you're really bored.

I'll be there in a minute

Warning: Spoilers
A group of six friends gets together for a feast. They have conversations about a wedding and a pregnancy. A large banging happens at the door...an injured man falls into the house when the door is opened. He vomits on Tess and dies.

After the shower scene, the film gets weird as the guests appear possessed and there are MIB standing outside as observers.

The hour-long feature is done in black and white. It is similar to a Twilight Zone episode and fails to give you real closure.

Guide: F-word, nudity (Jessica Sonneborn )

Awful
davejessop-115 December 2016
Whoever added the Hitchcock and Twilight Zone tags to this should be ashamed of themselves. The film is a total mess - lots of shouting and repetitive dialogue - the worst being one annoying character repeating "what are you doing?" over and over, maybe 7 or 8 times - a lot of scenes were overly long, especially one where one of the guys was just screaming over and over again. The music was too loud and overbearing and seems to be some sort of Indiana Jones/Omen hybrid. It was a decent idea but poorly executed, poorly acted and I for one am glad it was only 64 minutes long and, even better, it didn't cost me a penny although I'd like my 64 minutes back.

Everything wrong with modern horror
Joey632719 January 2017
I have never written a review before but felt the need to after watching this. How this movie has so many up-votes is absolutely beyond me. My mind is blank trying to think of worse acting and dialogue than this. Please, for your own sake, watch something else. After four out of seven characters are dead, three are still debating whether to stay in the house all night or not and go back to dinner. LOL. The only reason to watch this is if you enjoy cheap horror flicks for the laugh and entertainment, because that is all you will get with this one. There are many good films made with little to no budget, but that should not be an excuse for creating garbage. I am just trying to fill up ten lines to post this thing now. Maybe the actors asked everyone they see to up-vote this movie they are in and that's the reason it's big, that is the only explanation.

okay so this was odd

the idea of the movie was interesting but executed terribly. The acting is god awful to the point that it is funny (which might have been on purpose because how the hell could the director look at the dailies and not realize this is awful) as well as the dialogue being the worst i have ever seen in my life, nothing the characters say or do makes sense on a human or conscious level. I have no idea how this was made. The characters have no realism, this movie wasn't filmed on earth. these are not humans. The characters act more stupid than is even possible to an unrealistic point, i really can't stress that enough. Too be fair the black and white did fit the movie for the tone and the boobs were okay so there's that. And as far as other reviewers saying they want their hour back I have an important question.. did you not realize what you were getting in to? i mean, right off the bad you can tell what's in store as far as character and acting.

Awful
bahnjee14 May 2017
If I could write the word "Awful" a thousand times, it still wouldn't be enough to describe this movie. I've seen better acting in middle school plays. I seen better stories written by 14 year old high school dropouts. And my dog waiting on me to feed him dinner is more suspenseful.

I'm considering putting together a class action suit so that I and all the others that lost an hour of their lives watching this crap can recoup the loss. To win, we'd only need show the movie to the court. The court could then take all that lost time from the movie producer/director/whatever and they'd die before creating anymore crap like this.

I really don't know. So nicely weird.

I really don't know if I liked this movie or not. It's only 1 hour long but the time passed so fast. I really enjoyed it without pause it for any reason. The sound mixing is awful because the music was louder than the dialogue but the score is pretty good and kept me into the mood of the movie. The shots are actually great but maybe it is the B&W that fools you. It is one of the weirdest movies I've seen in a good way. There is something with this movie similar to "Coherence" which by the way it's an excellent film. The acting and the dialogue are not good but I gave it 9/10 because I wasn't bored at all in general. I just wanted to see what's gonna happen in the end. I think the writers wanted to make a movie that make no sense and luckily it is an enjoyable movie. If you are looking for a descent movie to watch, then this is not your film. But if you are looking for something really weird for no reason, this is your movie.

Vito, You've Done it Again

Warning: Spoilers
While this movie is certainly among the lowest of quality films out there, Mr. Trabucco seems to have a knack for making even the worst of pictures entertaining. By this, of course, I mean that his films are enjoyable in a comedic sense, not as legitimate horror flicks. As for "Never Open the Door," I submit that only two aspects of this film are even remotely entertaining in the way that they were originally intended to be: the opening credits and Isaac's illogical death scene.

Trabucco claims to have dedicated this film to the legacy of such anthology classics as "The Twilight Zone." While evidence of dedication is almost entirely absent from the film, save a literal, written dedication to John Brahm, the most Twilight Zone-like aspect lies in the opening credits. The music is a delicious throwback to the days of classic, creepy tales, and the artwork just screams Twilight Zone. Of course, the paradoxical ending very obviously aspires to match those of the legendary anthology, but its total lack of relevance to the entire premise of the film deprives it of this status in my eyes.

Before I leave this movie alone forever, I must first give it credit for the only genuinely cool scene in the entire production. While I'm not altogether convinced that stabbing your fingers through someone's digastric would end his life instantaneously, Isaac's death scene is exactly the sort of thing I love seeing in films like this. Tess's claw- like hands and wolf-like, toothy grin came very close to giving me chills. Of course, this feeling was immediately done away with when I witnessed the nonsensical catastrophe that was the ending of "Never Open the Door," but nonetheless it was there. For this, I say well done, Mr. Trabucco, your Monster Tess was a success.

So, watch this movie with your friends and family, have a laugh, make a witty riff or two - but don't expect to be scared.

Excellent Old School Horror
Indyrod4 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I just loved this black and white horror winner, just over an hour long. This may include some spoilers, but nothing that would ruin the movie in any way.

Three couples get together for a dinner in a remote house, and start arguing kind of making you not care about any of them.

But, out of the blue, an old guy pounds on the front door, interrupting their rather boring dinner, all bloody and his last words are "Never Open the Door", which freaks out everybody.

As He comes through the door He pukes up some blood on one of the ladies, and everything goes to Hell from there. Chaos takes over, nobody trusts anybody, and on top of that, their's some weird people or whatever they are, right outside the home.

Soon, everything that seemed pretty normal, goes almost into the Sci-Fi zone, as nothing is as it seemed before.

I loved the conclusion, which reminded Me of several movies, and nothing You've seen before, either happened, or is happening again but in a different dimension which is not exactly clear. Nevertheless, this is classic horror, with a touch of sci-fi mixed, and all in just over an hour.

I found it very entertaining, and even worth multiple viewings, and being filmed in B&W was an added element, which fitted this movie very very well. Check it out, definitely worth the 65 minutes running time.

Pure Rubbish
resipsaloquiteractual1 April 2023
I've managed to watch, and to some extent enjoy, no end of bad horror movies, but this was right up there with some of the most unbearable.

The first 15+ minutes are taken up by some of the most unlikeable characters I've ever seen, engaging in what was nothing more than an infantile dialogue. They're so despicable you're almost praying they're all killed off as part of the introduction before the film moves on to the heart of the story. Sadly, that's doesn't happen.

The potential, based on the premise was never in jeopardy of being realized. The dialogue was awful, the acting was.....not good....lets just leave it at that, and the structure of the movie was disjointed and highly annoying. I really want the last hour of my life back.

Another pleasant surprised!
MrsMcC25 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
If it wasn't so telegraphed (the characters fates) would've rated 10 out of 10, other than that: loved it. Stereotypical characters trapped in a big house get killed one by one, no one particular stands out and there is some bad acting but overall a pleasant surprise. Was never sure who the final girl was going to be!
