A food-themed bore from Japan
Leofwine_draca21 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
A very odd, no budget drama from Japan. IMDb lists this as a comedy but it certainly isn't. It's more of a film that mixes and matches four separate sub-plots involving different characters and their relationships to food. Food lovers will be treated to endless scenes of characters preparing food and eating it, from raw squid to carefully-prepared stir fries and the like, so some of it is appetising and some of it less so.

It's amateurish stuff indeed, lacking the kind of depth and plot development to make it a proper film. You can't really fault the calibre of the acting but it's fair to say that the performers don't have a lot to work with here. The problem is that the film is just so dull and I felt like I'd rather be watching a documentary on the same subject matter. Occasionally there's a touch of interest - a man's fear of food has him hallucinating it while a girl confesses to a desire for human flesh, for example - but generally this one's a real bore.
