Another redeeming episode

This series has fluctuated wildly in the quality of its episodes. This one is another winner. I think I know what the difference is.

The original series was at its most brilliant when the eponymous character has a lot of screen time, a compelling storyline, and there are revelations that let us understand why that character is lovable. That seems to hold true here as well.

In the first episode of the US series (widely regard as poor) we meet the characters but really get no insight into who Tony is and why he is the way that he is. In the UK version the main character was angelically beautiful and yet his silent smirk from the first frame told us that there was devilment just below the surface. The US version failed to evoke that same feeling.

This episode from Mchelle's POV really lets us see things about Michelle and why she is who she is. We even learn why she's with Tony and it's actually a kind of romantic surprise.

Given what Michelle learns in this episode it will be a pleasure seeing how she develops from here.
