Locating the sperm donor
jotix1007 December 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Jonathan is contacted by a woman named Rose. She wants to talk to him about information she has discovered about the man who set the sperm bank on fire. According to her findings, the man is serving time in Riker's Island prison. His name is Fishman. Rose was also conceived from the same place, so it is decided a visit to the man is in order. What they find is a crazy guy whose mind is not all there, but something good comes out of seeing him: they get an address in Coney Island of the man that ran the bank.

Ray has been suffering from his back. Staying at George's, he is seen attached to a contraption that is supposed to help his aching spine, but nothing seems to help. George has a present for him as they prepare to go to sleep. It is a book from an authority on back problems. Ray goes to sleep and wakes up cured from the pain he felt. The reason: he slept on top of the book and it straightened whatever was causing his ache.

Jonathan and Rose go to Coney Island to see a man named Bergeron, whom according to Fishman, ran the bank. The man has a small store selling inexpensive merchandise. The amateur detective comes to the point: who is his biological father? Bergeron's answer is not exactly what they were expecting. Jonathan invites Rose up to his apartment where they engage in sex. Both feel great the following day, as they awake in bed together.

George, preparing for the Yale Club performance where he will sing a song from "Man From La Mancha". He is seen looking at the audience behind the curtain. He has reserved two seats for Emily and Bernard, hoping they will come and settle their differences. Unfortunately, the only ones that come are Josephine, the voice coach, and Ray. As George starts to sing in full Don Quixote's costume, he is distracted and flees the auditorium. He then goes to Emily's building where he continues with his song, riling up the neighbors trying to sleep. Emily and Bernard ask him to come up to their place.

Jonathan receives a phone call from Bergeron. He has some new information for him. At the sperm bank he ran, he was the only contributor. In fact, he tells Jonathan, looking at Rose was almost like looking at his own mother. Jonathan is horrified by having sex with his own sister!

A funny episode in two parts. Directed by Adam Bernstein and based on the creator of the series, Jonathan Ames and Rachel Axler, this was one of the best chapters of the season. The three principals do their best to keep the action going. The guest stars include Mary Steenburgen, Mrs. Ted Danson, in real life, Stacey Keach, Isla Fisher, David Rasche and Halley Feifer.
