I feel bad for anybody involved with this project!
purpleblows14 March 2011
The sexy boys are the main attraction and I watched it with little expectation. With that said, It felt as if it were a film made by high school students with zero experience in film-making. The lack of budget combined with terrible acting and cheesy dialogue = a great example of how to not make a film. So if you are interested in making one yourself, I highly suggest to watch this to avoid making the same mistakes. I cannot say I was at any point drawn to the characters and the story but I did wonder if it could get any crappier...it always did. But hey! if you want to watch it for the sexy shirtless men making out, I say go ahead and enjoy yourself! Just fast forward to the fun!

I give it a 3/10 due to the attractiveness of the male actors because they were the only enjoyable thing about the film.

A Pretty Awfsful Movie
ViniB14 June 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this movie after reading the reviews, but was pleasantly shocked by the movie. The movie is horrendous, no doubt but once you shut your mind and adjust to the nonsensical background score, it's pretty much a free ride. It's funny without actually meaning to be.

The acting is horrible, the script more so, but somehow the chemistry between the two leads is fierce, esp. the bantering when they are discussing the vampire "myths"... Pretty much explained the anomalies of Twilight, like walking in the sun and not being affected by stakes, etc. and they made sense too. The music was awful and certainly did not help the mood of the movie. At times, it was better to mute and concentrate on the subtitles that hear that god-awful sound, but we got along. I especially hated the weird background score whenever Jasin- not Jason- touched Caleb. Not too mention the overdose of shirtless guys and the meadow threesome scene with shocking wiener shot was absurd and not required, but i believe as the target audience was probably gay teens it made sense, at least to the film-makers. The only token girl was Tara, but she was covered up to her ears - literally. The final scene was pretty touching, though.

All-in-all, it is a pretty awfsful movie.

An insult to film making.
oceanchris18 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Please TAKE OUT this movie from the history of film making... This is a horrible, terrible, terrible, worst, worst acting ever! I cannot even find words to describe the NOTHINGNESS in this movie. Just wipe it off. Tear it apart. it is a catastrophe! I wonder how the cams did not burn from the fake, lousy, horrible, terrible acting of the things moving in front of it. I swear, a blank, black screen with beep all night long is a zillion times more interesting! Please please stop insulting gays, acting, films, even flowers are insulted in this movie! Wow... this is way beyond anything dumb. Who is this as----- who put a dime in this film! However, I must admit, if Jason Lockhart is well directed, he can do something good.

A huge waist of potential
gamerraintag11 August 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Warning, contains spoilers.

So a cheap gay parody of twilight with some ripped off lines from interview with a vampire. There is too much to criticize about this movie but I'll try my best.

The concept of a gay vampire looking for love is intriguing but the execution is high school project quality at best (and I'm sorry for using the word quality in this description) with a couple penis shots that are displayed in poor taste. The whole romance between the sickly Jasin and nerdy Caleb goes from stranger to eternal damnation in a time laps of three days. I mean come on, Romeo and Juliet had about 4 or 5 at least before they joined each other in eternity. I couldn't even feel any kind of legitimacy towards it. I kept thinking the character of Jasin was only seducing Caleb because his biological clock was running out (I say "the characters of" because at no point could I suspend my disbelief while watching the kids perform) The writing is sloppy and feels forced. The movie is supposed to be about love but the romance element is so weak it feels like a movie more about vampiric survival. The myth of finding 'the one' (a mortal to turn into a vampire and be with you forever) before your one hundredth vampire birthday or you die along with all the vampires you created is the only original concept in this film. Everything else feels like ether a parody of another vampire film or straight up rip off. The vampire myth is also nonexistent. Jasin and his entourage of calendar model rejects don't have any traits of traditional or modern vampires other than fangs and blood drinking. They walk around in the sunlight, they have no aversion to garlic or silver, they have no mental or shape shifting powers, they aren't strong or fast which is apparent in one fight scene where they look like 10 year olds having a tantrum.

Jasin's manner of talking isn't so much PAINFUL to listen to because of his old style mannerisms but because he talks with a HEAVY emphasis of cliché cocky mysteriousness. It's like he isn't even trying to hide the fact he has something to hide. He sounds like a guy about to go crazy and shoot up the school the next day. On top of that, the poor excuse for a director chose the completely wrong actor to play the lead vampire. Jasin is a skinny sickly looking blond stereotype and he is surrounded by huge muscular lackeys to make him look more menacing. Any of the other vampires would have made a better choice to portray the animalistic danger a vampire should have but not by much. It was kind of obvious that the director had a fetish for the twinkish boy types and wanted to film them with their shirts off for his personal amusement.

Caleb is just as skinny and I'm surprised he's not a dwarf because there has got to be 10 tons of stereotypical femininity weighing him down. He plays his role terribly. It sounds like he and everyone else in the film are reading there lines off of flash cards posted on the walls just out of camera view, at one point I thought I saw one.

Paul (Caleb's roommate) played a very chaotic role. It was very apparent that the writer/director didn't know what to do with him. At first he's a plot device to give Caleb a free place to stay, then he's mysterious due to his financial independence and vampire themed house even though he never mentions vampires ever, then he's a romance interest, then he gets quickly killed off without any explanation of why his house had heavy vampire themes, and after his death any curiosity as to where he might be by Caleb is brushed off with "Paul isn't answering his phone I guess he's ignoring me" and no one catches a whisper of him again.

By the end I'm almost sad to see Logan (one of Jasin's goons) get killed off. He was the only character who had any substance or development to him. He was a vampire who didn't want to die so he went to extreme measures to ensure his survival. Granted he wasn't a good actor nor anyone else but his parts were slightly not as bad, and he was, dare I say it interesting. Other than that the whole movie was rubbish and I quite literally had to pause at ten minutes intervals and catch a break from the poor quality of the movie budget, acting skill, lack of costume effects (Jasin gets shot and you don't even see a bullet hole in the shirt. Seriously!? The director was so cheap that he couldn't afford to poke a hole in a shirt? Maybe he spent the entire budget to get those two guys to flash there penises for the camera.) Honestly I have never had my willpower challenged so hard to finish a movie before.

The movies concept had potential but the only thing vampiric about this film is that it was destined to burn once it saw the light of day.

Not what I expected at all. Bleccchh!
pjchatman5 September 2011
Jasin is a vampire. For some reason when he turns 100 he and his brood (not coven, only witches form a coven) will all die. Hm? Never heard that one before. Anywhoo, he meets uh..what his name..and falls for him, blah, blah, blah. He's the One and he must Sire him to live. ??? Seeing Jason Lockhard act is punishing. His "ol' so polite way of talking" gets old real fast, and you want him to shut up.

Time code 18:55 -19:05 is all this "film" is worth with a nice shot of Greg McKeon close up; plus Ryan Adames, both are hot to look at. (Too bad Ryan didn't get nudies) That's it. I'm a perv. So what.

With dialog like: Caleb: "So, are you going to turn me, too?" Jasin: "It *has* come to that." this film has no excuse. The idea of a gay vampire flick was honestly arousing. But the all white cast, gawd awful actors was what set this thing in motion as another bad gay film.

Whoever did this just wanted to make good use of all that stock footage (landscapes, cities, houses, scenery, etc.) they bought all in one film. I only liked the frontal shot of Greg that the director "just HAD" to get on camera. Well, that's it. Bye.

This was just wrong on so many levels...
paul_haakonsen10 August 2013
This movie is labeled as 'horror', well I wonder why! This movie was just awful and a complete waste of time.

Was it a parody on "Twilight"? I hardly think so. I am pretty sure that director Charlie Vaughn meant this as a serious movie. A gay vampire movie. Well, that is a first, I will give him that much.

As for the movie itself? Well, it didn't at all appeal to me in any way. The story was shallow and basically just an excuse to show off guys with no shirts. And the movie didn't follow vampire lore or mythology at all; the vampires were running around in broad daylight and wore crucifixes around their necks. And be warned, there is some full vampire frontal nudity here as well.

I am sure that this movie might appeal to a certain selected target audience, whom enjoy gay romantic vampire movies that was or could be labeled as softcore porn as well. As for me, not so much, and I gave up on the movie without finishing it, as it was not the type of movie that would be important for my life to have watched all the way to the end.

Acting? Well, yeah there were actors and actresses in the movie. Did they perform good? Well, I am sure that they did. Just don't expect groundbreaking or academy-winning performances.

"Vampire Boys", well it did take on the vampire genre with an approach unrivaled and unseen before. At least for that, the movie was outstanding. Entertainment-wise, well I found nothing of the sort here.

I would even go out as far as to say that "Twilight" seems like movie of the century compared to this vampire farce. And equally scary is the fact that a sequel has been spawned to this farce; "Vampire Boys 2: The New Brood". Well, there are movies being catered to every group in the audience, and hurray for that.

Also a hurray for this being a gay movie, and that is not why I didn't enjoy it. I watch movies for the entertainment, not the political correctness of them, and "Vampire Boys" failed on every account to entertain me.

Needed: Competent Writer and Better Actors
smooth_op_8521 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
A big waste of time and I've summarized the "Plot" for those who want to save their time. For those who would watch the film anyway you'll see the synopsis below and it includes spoilers...which I will admit it's not really spoilers as the whole damn thing is predictable

Jasin has to meet the One by his 100th birthday and has Dane, Adam and Logan as a coven. Tara wants Jasin to turn her into a vampire and be his one so the Coven can survive. Enter Caleb, a new transplant to LA from Ohio and Paul his roommate (One of two decent actors in the film aside Dane a muscle guy)

The two dream about eachother and meet in short order, Paul gets jealous and Tara is in there to remind us she exists in this thin plot

So, Jasin gets his "brothers" aka Coven to get rid of Paul after he tries to apologize to Caleb post reveal of feelings for him

Logan and Jasin get into a fight later and Jasin decapitates Logan and turns Caleb into a vampire, Tara also turns as well

Short and sweet

I knew this was going to be terrible from the 5 minute mark and it didn't disappoint me at all. I went in with low expectations. It seems like a terrible Saturday afternoon movie

Pretty Awful...But They Gave It the College Try
kcrisenphoenix26 May 2018
What can I say? It was better than I thought it would be...but that isn't saying a lot. Most of the acting was dreadful, especially Dylan Vox. Jason Lockhart could not have overacted more...and yet I couldn't help but think that maybe it wasn't his fault. I don't know why, but I think the fault really is with director Charlie Vaughn. It is his job to control what's going on, right? Why didn't he tell these people to reel it in, or in Christian Ferrer case, to actually give more and stop batting his eyes? These vampires can come out in the day and at least they decided to just go with that. Filming movies at night is very expensive and tricky, so they didn't even try. These vampires practically worship the sun. There is some gratuitous nudity in a silly scene near the beginning that could have been so hot--almost was--and then just flopped. I figured with the full frontal nudity of the throw away characters then for sure we'd get the same from the stars. Nope. Not even a butt shot. End the final analysis I have to say that if this movie were not free when I saw it, I would probably ask for my money back. For sure I won't watch a Charlie Vaughn again!

a slightly entertaining waste of time.
flightkitsune27 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
This film could be worse. It's a stupid but kind of cute romance. If you go into it expecting it to be like a Twilight slashfic, as the image and summary should lead you to, it delivers on that pretty well.

Now for the spoilerific part- It's worth seeing just to see how bad it is. The vamps don't seem to have much experience talking with fangs, the blood is SO FAKE, there's a random naked scene with the phrase "You have to go through him to get to me" used, a bonfire with a room mate, back tats, "he threw Adam through a tree", and bad editing involving an extra or two. I wouldn't pay to rent it, but for free streaming or something, totally worth the time.

Vampire Crap
myronlearn10 September 2023
It took two people to write the screenplay for this, one of the worst films I have ever seen. Jeremiah Campbell and David Sterling should find another profession because writing screenplays is clearly not their strong point. The direction and acting are equally as bad. The film centers around a gay man, who, by the way, is also a vampire. He is on a timeline to find his the love of his life, or his entourage of vampires, yes vampires, will be gone forever. He meets an LA transplant (aren't they all transplants in LaLa land?) from Ohio and sets his sights on him to be his savior. Without revealing anything else, not that there is a whole lot more, this cinematic piece of LA garbage only goes downhill from here. For the LGBTQ+ community, there is nothing positive about this 'gay vampire movie'. At least there's nothing overly negative either. I give this film a DWYT rating, Don't Waste Your Time.

Well, it was interesting....
cyf225 December 2011
Before watching this movie, I read all the reviews on this site, and I had very low expectations for this film when I watched it. If you're looking for a horror movie, I don't even understand why you're still looking at this page. This film is sort of a *GAY* parody of Twilight( minus the sparkles); Jasin is like Edward and Caleb is the Bella. The movie sometimes had slow or dull dialogue; sometimes it was good like that, sometimes not so much. In a nutshell, it wasn't a horrible movie, quite entertaining actually, if you're game for what this movie has.

This movie is not for a true vampire fanatic. This is movie is better for ones who don't mind bending the rules a little.

A really enjoyable bad film.
baker-thea27 March 2011
Synopsis: Vampires made by an Ancient One on their 100th anniversary of becoming a Vampire must do the same else they and their progeny die. Jasin (yes that is how it is spelt) and his "brothers," come to LA to find "The One" for Jasin so they can all live together. Unbeknownst to Caleb, a young, gay, college swimming star from Ohio just moved to LA, he is "The One."

Pluses: Just how bad the dialogue was. It was awesomely bad! The acting was so wrong. Their skills of fake drinking coffee were brilliant! I had no idea it was a gay equivalent to Twilight, I was surprised when the leads were acting, well, gay. The sunshine myth is just that, a myth - turns out Vampire Boys tan quite nicely. Their abs weren't nearly as fake as suggested by the poster. It was just insanely fun.

Minuses: The score/music - it was atrocious! That being said, once you got used to it, it kind of added to the experience. The token female looked like an ex-hooker with bad plastic surgery. What was with the shock shot of extra large genitalia? Jasin's hair.

A few of my friends and I love catching terrible movies - when I saw this was rated at 2.4 on IMDb, I thought I had to see it. After a busy week and tiring Saturday, I skipped a BBQ and livetweeted the movie - you can see that here though don't forget to keep clicking more till there aren't any more - then read from the bottom up. It wasn't the worst movie I have seen, but its approach was super fun, and I had an absolute blast watching it. As someone who doesn't much care for the Twilight franchise, this was just brilliant. That I had no idea what I was getting myself in for, made it even more fun.

Nothing good to say

Warning: Spoilers
Boring story. Terrible acting. Terrible plot. Jasin is eternally 20? Laughable. Friend goes missing permanently? Who cares? I'll spend eternity with his murders. There so much bad in this. I liked Paul. He was the cutest and most well-rounded character. Also the best actor. Too bad he didn't get more screentime.

Dumb, but also sexy and fun
jm107016 January 2012
I liked this movie. It's no dumber than the Twilight movies, and it's lots more fun. Jason Lockhart is actually good, despite the stupid way he has to talk, and there is real, believable chemistry between him and Christian Ferrer, even though Ferrer is not attractive and if Lockhart is gay I'm Ronald Reagan.

I don't know what all the reviewers who hated this movie expected, but I expected to hate it and ended up enjoying it a lot. And not because it's bad. To me, movies are NEVER so bad they're good; if they're bad, they're just bad. This one is amateurish and dumb, but it's also sexy and fun. I actually wanted it to be longer.

The Lust Boys
NoDakTatum8 October 2023
Darn you, makers of the "Twilight" film series. Now sanitized vampires are all over the place- your novels, other novels, books about your novels, television series, your lousy movies, spoofs of your lousy movies, and so on. Now all you need to make your own vampire flick is half a dozen semi-attractive actors and some fake-looking fangs- as evidenced by this thing. Caleb (Christian Ferrer) has moved from Ohio to California to attend college. He is staying at Paul's (Ryan Adames) house for free after the two met online. Right away, Caleb begins having visions and dreams about blonde Jasin (Jason Lockhart). Jasin and Caleb meet at school, and the attraction between them is instantaneous. Here's the problem: Jasin is the head vampire in a small coven that consists of Logan (Dylan Vox), Dane (Jess Allen), and Adam (Tanner Acord). According to some newly conceived mythology, Jasin must choose an eternal companion before his 100th anniversary as a vampire, or he and the entire coven will die. Everyone had their sights set on Tara (Zasu, doing her best Courtney Love impression), but when Jasin sensed Caleb, he knew he was THE ONE...plus, they already got rid of another THE ONE in the opening scenes. Paul gets suspicious, the coven gets antsy, and Caleb treats his decision about impending eternal life like he would a latte choice at a coffee kiosk.

The film was obviously done on the cheap, I think the same backyard is used in half the shots, and the film makers flounder. Lockhart does have some charisma as Jasin, but making him... speak... very... slowly... without... grammatical... contractions... does not make him more vampire-y. Vox, who is better known for his comedies, and adult film appearances, is actually good here, although you'll be laughing as Jasin and Logan hiss at each other like a couple of playful kitties. Ferrer and Adames are terrible. Both have a nasally monotone line delivery, and do nothing with their weakly written characters. Luckily, Adames provides some very good songs to the soundtrack, so he can be forgiven. Allen and Acord are window dressing, gawking at Jasin and Logan's arguments. Vaughn tries, and the direction isn't that bad. The script is messy, getting unintended laughs for everything from Caleb's odd obsession with coffee to the overuse of the word "complicated." There is no fun here, everything is taken so seriously and the cast delivers their lines in too deadpan a manner. The convenient destruction of vampire mythology comes off as lame, and the action and gore sequences are embarrassing. Followed by a sequel.

Rather Poor
larapha4 September 2015
Making vampire and terror movies became a trend in the gay film industry, but for the most part they are so poor that hardly deserve a review. It's a fact that appreciators of the genre don't expect much: a lot of bare chests, some eye candy, actors that barely deliver their lines, some violence, but not too graphic. Well, this film has it all. The plot is very simple: it's running out time for Jasin (Jason Lockhart) to find a new candidate of vampire to perpetuate the brood. He has as woman willing to get there, but fells attracted to a nice candy boy Caleb (Christian Ferrer) who maybe The One, as long as Jasin convinces him of the marvelous living eternally youth. The actors aren't that bad as the ones chosen for the sequel, but don't expect too much. They poorly deliver their lines, nearly reading them. I found most sympathy for Caleb, the gentle and campy candidate, who touched me in a pleasant way. As for the rest, it's poor bore. They can't convince you for one second of their intentions, fears and desires. But wait! Behold yourselves that the film has a sequel that is even worse than the first film, with a different cast. How could they do it, while just enduring the 70 or so minutes of this trash is so hard. Just for enthusiasts.

Loved the movie ( wish i could get the DVD)
vb-justine6 December 2012
I loved the movie, though i wish it had more scenes that show that they are vampires but otherwise it was an excellent movie and could and would not stop watching it, also i had hoped that not just Jesin was the only one to find love but that the others also had find the one they wanted, i was rooting for Caleb and Jesin all the way to the end.

i had hoped that Logan didn't have to die but it just had to be done.

i have never seen a gay vampire movie before but this one was my first and i loved it even thought i had thought it was going to be boring at first but then it really got good and i could not stop watching it.

Thanks for making this great movie

Every Bit As Bad As Everybody Says
gavin69422 October 2011
Jasin (Jason Lockhart) and his vampire brood's time is running out. In order for them to survive, Jasin needs to find a mortal to turn into a vampire to spend eternity with.

There are numerous complaints one could have with this film. If you are homophobic, the overt gayness and exposed members might turn you off. But even if you dig gayness, there is plenty to scare you off -- mostly the absolutely terrible, emotionless acting. But also the complete denial of vampire mythology.

The film does try to explain that vampire legends are myths, but this more or less removes any reason to call them vampires at all. Sure, they feed on blood... but this is all. Sunlight, mirrors, stakes, garlic and crosses are all perfectly fine.

The only part I really liked at all was the flashback of how Jasin was turned into a vampire. But this was maybe one minute long and then it went back to terrible acting. I suppose I could be thankful the film is only 70 minutes long, but it feels like an eternity. Special thanks to Dan McGinnis for finding this gem.
