Oxygen Media announced that world-famous supermodels Karolina Kurkova and Coco Rocha will join renowned supermodel and businesswoman Naomi Campbell on “The Face,” a new reality competition series that features aspiring female models in their quest to win the opportunity of becoming “the face” for a well-known brand. This powerhouse trio of supermodel coaches will be responsible for molding, nurturing and transforming the promising contestants as they compete for the career opportunity of a lifetime. Additionally, famed fashion photographer and former model Nigel Barker will host the series. Oxygen has also tapped Andrew Frank, a veteran showrunner (“The Amazing Race” and “Survivor”), as executive producer. Produced by Shine America, “The Face” is scheduled to air in 2013 and casting for the aspiring models is currently underway. For more information, visit www.oxygen.com and follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/OxygenPR.
Oxygen viewers will gain access inside the world of modeling with “The Face,” which features three teams of models, each led by supermodel coaches Campbell, Kurkova and Rocha. The coaches will scout and choose their teams from aspiring young models nationwide before guiding them through assignments, which include photo shoots, runway shows and commercials for some of America’s best known brands. Throughout the series, the supermodel coaches will mentor these young hopefuls taking the lessons and skills they have learned and using them to guide their teams through challenges that accurately depict what it takes to have a career as a model and be the face of a brand. During the process, these young models will be exposed to the very best photographers, stylists and designers in the fashion world. In the end, one girl will be chosen to become ‘The Face’ of a well-known brand, earning a real contract as the brand ambassador. As the image of this brand, the winner will become a spokesperson for that company, representing it from all angles – in print, on-air and at brand-hosted events.
Naomi Campbell (Supermodel Coach)
One of the five original supermodels, Campbell was born in London and caught her break when she was 15 years old. She has graced the covers of more than 500 magazines during her career, and has been featured in campaigns for Burberry, Prada, Versace, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent and Valentino. She was the first black model to appear on the cover of Time magazine, French Vogue and Russian Vogue as well as the first British black model to appear on the cover of British Vogue. The runway was her domain as she showcased the collections of top designers, including Chanel, Azzedine Alaϊa, Christian Dior and Versace.
Additionally, Campbell has appeared in countless TV shows, music videos and films, including “The Cosby Show,” “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” Madonna’s “Erotica," Bob Marley's "Is This Love" and Michael Jackson's "In The Closet." Campbell is also responsible for an incredible amount of fundraising and charity work in South Africa and across the globe. She began charity work with Nelson Mandela in 1993, and in 1997 he named her “Honorary Granddaughter” for endless activism. In 2005, she established Fashion For Relief and hosted its first charity fashion show to raise funds for victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Since its conception in 2005, Fashion For Relief has presented shows in New York, London, Cannes, Moscow, Mumbai and Dar es Salaam, and has raised millions of dollars for various causes. Additional shows and events are scheduled to take place in Beijing and Hong Kong.
Karolina Kurkova (Supermodel Coach)- @karolinakurkova
Often called one of the last true supermodels, the Czech-born Kurkova has established herself as a fashion and entertainment icon, most notably gracing best-selling covers of fashion magazines worldwide, starring in numerous high-fashion campaigns, co-starring in a hit film franchise, and producing/starring in an international reality TV series. After becoming the youngest model to grace the cover of American Vogue at age 16, and being lauded as the "next supermodel" by its famed editor Anna Wintour, Kurkova walked the runways of haute couture fashion shows including Alberta Ferretti and Alexander McQueen. In 2005, she was named one of Victoria Secret's Angels and subsequently received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007. In 2009, Kurkova starred in the live action film “GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra” and went on to play guest-starring roles on NBC's TV series “Chuck” and “30 Rock.”
More than a beautiful face, Kurkova received an award from the non-profit organization "Women Together" for her humanitarian work. She continues to campaign for the welfare of children through organizations such as AmFar, New Yorkers for Children and Global Youth Action Network. She has also done work on behalf of the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund and Wounded Warriors. Married in 2009, Kurkova's proudest accomplishment is the role of mom to her two year-old son, Tobin Jack.

The Modern Gypsies, the San Diego team who won it all in the first season of ABC's "Expedition Impossible," are living proof that reality TV can have an encouraging outcome for the greater good. After filming wrapped up on Mark Burnett’s new reality TV show, The Gypsies got right back in the saddle (minus the crazy camels) traveling to raise money and awareness about their newest mission as "compassionate adventurers." In Mark Burnett's latest reality-tv show, 13 teams of three competed across the Sahara Desert in a 10-leg race. Admittedly, this show noticeably resembled...

ABC’s Expedition Impossible might not have turned out to be the ratings juggernaut that is The Amazing Race, but when it comes to gay competitors with guts as well as heart, Ei concedes nothing to Tar.
Credit for that goes to 36-year-old Ryan Carrillo and 30-year-old A.J. Gibson, former boyfriends who, along with Aj’s sister, 26-year-old Kari Gibson, came “oh so close” to wining the first season of Expedition Impossible. Alas, the team took a wrong turn at the very end and wound finishing third, disappointing themselves, but not their fans, friends and families who marveled at the Fab 3's toughness as they fought their way through injuries and illness, not to mention the mountains and deserts of Morocco.
AfterElton.com caught up with the Fab 3 (the name they gave themselves) to talk about their close call, representing the gay community, and much more.

ABC recently unveiled a new reality competition series called Expedition Impossible. From Mark Burnett, the force behind Survivor and The Apprentice, the TV show bears more than a passing resemblance to CBS' long-running The Amazing Race. Will this new series be as successful or will it be quickly cancelled instead?
Hosted by zoologist Dave Salmoni, Expedition Impossible follows 13 teams of three people racing through the great outdoors -- across barren deserts and over snow-covered mountains. Each week, a new part of the expedition is revealed to the contestants and at least one team is eliminated from the competition. The winning trio of adventurers receives $50,000 each in prize money and a new Ford Explorer.
The TV series debuted on June 23rd to a 2.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.18 million viewers, airing opposite all repeats. That was a healthy premiere and Expedition...

The Bataan Death March … With Chocolate
Another Television Critics Association Summer Tour is over and this was probably the most memorable one I’ve ever done, for a whole host of reasons.
Another critic once described the press tour (which usually lasts for two solid weeks with no breaks at all) as the Bataan Death March With Cocktails. Since I’m not much of a drinker that isn’t true for me. Instead, for me it’s a death march with chocolate since the cable and broadcast networks were constantly tempting us with all kinds of chocolates, from marshmallows covered with dark chocolate to chocolate covered strawberries to all kinds of fancy fou-fou chocolate desserts.
ABC even sent a box of amazing chocolate chip cookies to my room where they begged me to eat them! Talk about evil.

Big Brother 13 started strong, with ratings that were higher than last summer's debut, but while the show continues to win its timeslot during the slow summer months, about 1 million viewers have fled the show, perhaps to avoid hearing Rachel's laugh. But the show easily beat Mark Burnett's Expedition Impossible, which hit a series low in its ratings Thursday. While 7.71 million viewers watched Big Brother's July 7 debut, an a 5 percent increase...

That's how many of the 50 top-rated programs I watched last week. "Suits," the new legal show on USA that ranked 10th among cable shows. It's not that I don't watch television in the summer. I watched the amazing finale of "Luther," the phenomenal season two finale of "Men of a Certain Age," "Wilfred," "Louis," "Weeds," the dreadful "The Big C," the still cute, "Love Bites," and "Torchwood: Miracle Day." The lowest rated of the top 25 cable programs last week was 3.78 million viewers; the lowest rated of the network programs last week was 1.9 million. That means that more people are watching telenovas on Univision than "Louis."
Make of that what you will. The Spanish-speaking population in the United States is growing.
The disheartening news is that three of the top four rated shows on network television last week were editions of "America's Got Talent." The heartening news is that less...

As a contestant on ABC's Expedition Impossible, Ryan Carrillo and his "Fab 3" teammates journeyed through the Moroccan wilds in the name of adventure (plus the chance to split $150,000 and grab a new car). In temperatures of up to 107 degrees, Carrillo climbed sand dunes in the Sahara Desert, stared down snippy camels, and kayaked down a raging river –– and that was just in the first two episodes!
Ology caught up with the former pro skater to talk about foregoing Twitter for 30 days, staying supportive of his teammates, and what it's really like climbing a sand dune with a 70-pound backpack weighing you down.

It can be difficult at times to be a reality TV show fan. The shows usually have total jerks on them, the people that you are rooting for always get eliminated first and you have to listen to at least half the contestants explain that they aren’t there to make friends.
But sometimes, the gods of reality TV smile down and last night on the premiere episode of Expedition Impossible was one of those nights. The awful girls who seemed like terrible sports and horrible teammates were the first ones to get eliminated, which is always a relief. Team Fab 3, who I am guessing several people here are rooting for, did a great job, coming in second place after the first leg and showing their strength in both the physical and the mental challenges.
Plus, there were a bunch of compelling teams that look like they will be interesting...

ABC launched its summer Thursday lineup last night with the official season premiere of Wipeout (2.3/8 in adults 18-49, down 12% from its Thursday premiere last summer), the debut of Mark Burnett's new reality series Expedition Impossible (2.3/7), which held onto its Wipeout lead-in, and the second-season premiere of drama Rookie Blue (1.6/5, down 16% from its debut last summer, when the series ran in the Thursday 9 Pm slot, directly following Wipeout.) Facing Wipeout and Expedition: Impossible, Fox's So You Think You Can Dance (1.9/7) was down 14% week-to-week, with the NBA Draft coverage on cable also probably a factor. The only other original program last night was NBC's Love Bites (0.8/2) at 10 Pm, which was down 20%. ABC (2.1/6, 6.8 million total viewers) easily won the night in 18-49, while CBS' all-rerun lineup (1.4/4, 7.4 million) still managed to finish first in total viewers.

That tied its lead-in Wipeout (7.5 million, 2.3) as the highest-rated show. The return of cop series Rookie Blue (5.9 million, 1.6) underperformed at 10 p.m.
Networks aired mostly repeats. Fox had So You Think You Can Dance (6.3 million, 1.9), down 14 percent this week. Also, NBC aired Love Bites (2 million, 0.8), down 20 percent.

There were two possibilities for ABC's Expedition Impossible, the Mark Burnett-produced adventure race which debuted last night on ABC. The first was that it'd be a game-changing new show, which is what I thought it could be when it was announced. The second was that it'd be an Amazing Race knock-off that either improved on the CBS series or was a pale imitation. After one episode, Expedition Impossible is decidedly the second, but it's both...

ABC kept promoting Mark Burnett's Expedition Impossible as an adventure unlike anything we've ever seen.
Except we have — even from the man himself.
When the show was announced last year, Amazing Race fans did a Phil Keoghan-like eyebrow-raise: This sounds an awfully like the seven-time Emmy winner. Race has teams of two; Expedition, teams of three. Race globe-trots, Expedition journeys through just Morocco. Race has legs; Expedition has stages. Race awards a $1 million prize; Expedition offers a $150,000 purse and a ...

Chicago – Have all reality shows merely become hybrids of programs that came before? Doesn’t it feel like it? Put two to three former hits in a blender and try and create a new hit. This week’s latest mash-up (and we’ll have another much-more-obnoxious one in a few days) combines elements of “The Amazing Race” and “Survivor” into ABC’s “Expedition Impossible,” another mediocre summer offering.
Television Rating: 1.5/5.0
Mark Burnett has developed a reputation as a reality TV icon. He produced “Survivor,” “The Apprentice,” “The Contender,” “The Voice,” and many, many more. It’s almost impossible that you haven’t seen a show that he had something to do with. He’s become one of the most influential producers in all of television over the last few decades. He often knows exactly how to make the most ridiculous concepts work as escapist entertainment.

Dave Salmoni has said that ABC's new adventure reality show Expedition Impossible will push its contestants to the limit. Expedition Impossible launches tonight with 13 teams of three contestants beginning a race across various terrains from deserts to mountains to rivers. Adventurer and zoologist Salmoni, who hosts the show, told Gma: "The thing I like about it is the adventure side of it. Obviously I've been doing adventures for the last 20 years of my life. I spend a little bit of time working out and competing myself so the competition side of it is great." As for what viewers can expect from the series, he said: "This is an adventure race. This is 13 teams of three ordinary people doing the extraordinary. We literally take these 39 people and push them past their limits both mentally (more)...

"Let's run to the top of that dune!" yells animal trainer and Expedition Impossible host Dave Salmoni as he guides me to the top of a Saharan sand dune in the southeastern part of Morocco. We're overlooking caravans of camels crossing the horizon against the setting sun. "You've got a friend coming over to say hi," he says, glancing at the dune beetles surrounding our serene ridge — and getting a little too close for comfort. "You've got a beetle-buddy right on your ass!" Salmoni says, laughing. "He wants your shade."

If you've heard anything about Expedition Impossible, you might be inclined to think that it's a little bit familiar sounding — maybe a bit too much like The Amazing Race. Well we’re here to tell you to think again. The new adventure series is the brainchild of Mark Burnett (Survivor, The Voice) so you can pretty much be guaranteed that he will take the genre and inject new life into it. We’ve seen the first episode, and while we are sworn to secrecy for fear of being dropped in the Moroccan dessert without a camel, we can tell you that Burnett has done it again.
In a recent exclusive interview Mark explained that he wanted to infuse the genre with "the flavor of Indiana Jones" and he has achieved that goal. He's been working on the idea for several years and described the thought process behind it.

This summer, ABC presents a new reality series "Expedition Impossible" which takes its contestants overseas. The first 15 minutes of the first episode have now been made available for viewing pleasure, following 13 teams of 3 who are going through vast and dry deserts in Morocco.
They are racing through various physically demanding challenges "over snow capped mountains and through raging rivers in the beautifully exotic, fabled kingdom of Morocco." The winning team will deserve $150,000 grand prize and a brand new Ford Explorer for each of the members.
Dave Salmoni is hosting "Expedition Impossible" which looks like a more controlled version of CBS's "The Amazing Race". Created by Mark Burnett, the new competition show will premiere on Thursday, June 23 at 9 P.M.

Expedition Impossible is right around the corner, and I have a lot of preview material to get your ready. If you're a fan of other competition reality shows, but don't think there is enough chance that the contestants might - fall to their death, succumb to heat stroke, or break a bone - then here is the show for you.
The show takes 13 teams of, more or less, ordinary individuals, and throws them to the mercy of the elements, unique and sometimes terrifying challenges, and the last team to finish each week ends their journey.
Kicking off with a mere climb up a giant sand dune, and a trek on camels, the teams are then left scratching their heads in the middle of the dessert with the unhelpful instruction that they have to find some water. As the heat rages down on them, the strength of will and teamwork of...

'Expedition Impossible,' Mark Burnett's latest reality show, follows teams racing against each other as they trek through Morocco.
ABC posted 15 minutes of the premiere online today, and the show seems kind of like 'The Amazing Race' meets an Iron Man challenge during a desert season of 'Survivor.' Which is to say it looks interesting, though not entirely original.
There are plenty of reality TV tropes to be found -- there's the redneck team, the spicy latina team, the ex-nfl players who talk exclusively in football metaphors, the guy overcoming adversity, the excruciatingly long pauses before critical moments -- but all in all, it looks like a fun show for the summer. That said, if it were ever up against 'Tar,' Phil Keoghan would win every time.

Where once summer TV was made up almost exclusively of stale reruns – and perhaps a couple of new second-rate game shows that no one really cared about – there’s been a paradigm shift over the last decade or so in which the once-unadventurous cable networks started indulging in this little thing called original programming.
What’s more, many of them are now choosing to debut a slew of their original series during the warmer months to avoid competition from the “Big Four”, which can only equal happiness for a legion of loyal couch potatoes. I mean hell, who needs the outdoors anyway, right?
Here are twelve new and returning shows to keep you cool this summer. Before all you True Blood and Torchwood fanatics go bonkers on me, this list is highlighting shows AfterElton.com doesn’t already cover extensively. Hey, it might be summer, but you can still broaden your horizons some!

FremantleMedia Australia and Mark Burnett’s One Three Television announced today a deal to work together exclusively to produce Burnett’s shows in Australia and New Zealand.
The deal means FremantleMedia has the rights to produce any local versions of Burnett’s programs, including Survivor, The Apprenctice, and Are you Smarter Than a 5th Grader? that Australian audiences are already familiar with. Also on Burnett’s roster than Fremantle have access to is Shark Tank – an adaptation of the UK’s Dragon Den – offering bailout for struggling entrepreneurs, and Expedition Impossible – similar to The Amazing Race.
Fremantle will also be the sole production services company for all One Three owned and controlled formats in both Australia and New Zealand.
In a statement, FremantleMedia Australia CEO said, “This is a fantastic development for FremantleMedia Australia. Both Fma and Burnett have a shared DNA for creative excellence and execution. Mark Burnett’s track record speaks for itself.

The folks over at ABC must be pretty happy about the success of NBC's The Voice despite the long-standing dominance of American Idol when it comes to competitive singing reality shows.
Why? Because on June 21st ABC kicks off Expedition Impossible, which on the surface at least, looks like a cross between CBS' The Amazing Race and Discovery's Out of the Wild. And as any competitive reality fan knows, The Amazing Race is the 900 pound gorilla when it comes to this kind of reality programming. But if there is room for both The Voice and Idol, maybe Expedition Impossible can score in the ratings as well.
An ABC press release describes the show this way:
ABC's exciting new summer series, "Expedition Impossible," announces the show's 13 teams of three who will find themselves racing in a fun expedition across vast deserts, over snow capped mountains and through raging rivers in the beautifully exotic,...

As Seth mentioned, these days, fall television isn't much to get excited over--especially when it comes to new shows. From what rumblings are out there, pilot season is going to be yet another disaster. But between now and then, we still have summer and while most people think of it as a television wasteland, there are a few gems that should at least land on your DVR:
"So You Think You Can Dance," May 26th, Fox
Of all the dancing and singing competitions, "Sytycd" is the best there is. Hosted by the stylish and sweet Cat Deeley, follow along with the best of the b-boys as they blow away expectations and check out the phenomenal ballroom dancers working through a Nappytabs routine. Then try to make sense of Lil "C's judging comments or Mary Murphy's screeching and make fun of Adam Shankman when he cries at every other routine.
