- When Sub-Inspector Joseph Pinto finds that his foster son, Jai Dixit, sired by a deceased, re-formed gangster, has taken to crime, he arranges for his re-location to Melbourne, and has his name changed to Suraj Bhardwaj. Jai does re-locate there, and gets hired as a taxi-driver. He gets attracted to Suhani, much to the of her brother, Samarth, who wants her to marry Gurdaspur-based Romi Latti, who is also in Melbourne on a university scholarship. With mounting racially-motivated attacks and profiling ('Curry Boy', 'Indian Curry') against Indian students, Samarth actively protests - but Jai refrains from doing so - even after Romi is badly beaten by Caucasian youth. The protest results in violence, and Samarth is arrested. On the day of his discharge, Jai is told by a stripper, Nicole, that plans are afoot to kill Samarth, and he decides to intervene. - When Sub-Inspector Joseph Pinto (Gulshan Grover) finds that his foster son, Jai Dixit (Emraan Hashmi), sired by a deceased, re-formed gangster, has taken to crime, he arranges for his re-location to Melbourne, and has his name changed to Suraj Bhardwaj. Jai's father was a gangster mafia who found that the RDX for Mumbai blasts came from one of his consignments. Jai's father confessed to his friend Pinto & wanted to reveal the mafia chain to clean up the city. Pinto took Jai's father to the commissioner of police, who kills him for a medal. Since then, Pinto adopted Jai & Jai began to hate and mistrust the police.
Jai does re-locate to Melbourne and gets hired as a taxi-driver by Goldie who gives Jai a place to live & food to eat till he can get settled. Jai gets attracted to Suhani (Neha Sharma), much to the hate of her brother, Samarth, who wants her to marry Gurdaspur-based Romi Latti, who is also in Melbourne on a university scholarship. Jai witnesses a hate crime where a group of Aussies try to rob a Pakis shop. Jai intervenes & saves the guys life as the police arrives. Jai runs as he doesn't want any trouble with the law, & hides in a car belonging to an Aussie stripper Nicole. As Jai finds, Nicole is the sister of one of the assailants Russell. Nicole hastes Russell & saves Jai from him.
Suhani told a radio show help line for "Fresh off the boat" Indians & is concerned about the racial attacks rising. Romi celebrates too much when India beats Australia & is heckled by Aussies on the beach. Samarth intervenes & that's when Russell notices Samarth. Jai decides to keep a low profile because of the promise he made to Joseph to stay out of trouble at all costs. With mounting racially motivated attacks and profiling ('Curry Boy', 'Indian Curry') against Indian students, Samarth actively protests - but Jai refrains from doing so - even after Romi is badly beaten by Russell.
Samarth does not like Jai for his passive views and the fact that Suhani & Jai are getting close together. Samarth hits Jai. Jai gets drunk & starts to get close with Nicole. Goldie also asks Jai to stay away from the protests as he could be deported for the lack of proper papers. The protest results in violence, and Samarth is arrested. Jai is at the protest, but still doesn't gets involved. Suhani sees him & is bitterly disappointed. Suhani goes to Jai for help, but he flatly refuses saying its not his war.
On the day of his discharge, Jai is told by Nicole, that plans are afoot to kill Samarth, and he decides to intervene. He does succeed and even accompanies Suhani to the Police Station to identify her brother's attackers, despite Nicole warning Jai not to do so. Russell has found out that Jai has slept with Nicole & is now after Jai. At the station Jai figures out that a corrupt cop is helping Russell & figures that at that very moment Russell is attacking to kill Samarth who is in coma in hospital. Then the corrupt cop finds Jai's Indian police file where he is listed as a mafia's son & a criminal himself. Now the Melbourne police is after Jai.
While Jai & Suhani run, Romi arrives at the hospital & rescues Samarth before Russel gets there. Russell pressures Nicole to testify against Jai, who is now officially a fugitive from the Aus Govt. Jai goes to Nicole to find Russell & end it. But there he finds Samarth trying to sexually assault Nicole. Turns out Samarth had another sister Sheena, who was pregnant with the child of a white man. Samarth was against it & got Sheena to abort the pregnancy against her will. Sheena dies. The child belonged to Russell & since that day Russell was against Indians. After coming out of coma, Samarth went on a killing spree, shooting all mixed-race couples. He then attacks Nicole & is perfectly willing to sacrifice Suhani in Russell's promised retribution.
Samarth ties up Jai & takes Nicole to the same place where Sheena died. Jai escapes & follows him when Suhani calls Jai & says that Russell is attacking her. Jai tells Suhani about what Samarth has been doing. Suhani tells Jai that Samarth knew that the abortion would kill Sheena & so did she but did nothing to stop Samarth. She pleads Jai to save Nicole. Jai goes to stop Samarth, but Samarth shoots him. Jai pleads him to stop the cycle of violence, but Samarth is not listening. But Romi does & kills Samarth. The cops come in & so does Suhani. Russell had done nothing to Suhani, as his fight was only against Samarth. Suhani & Jai unite.
