Great Episode Pearl Bailey And Tim Conway
Jimmy_the_Gent428 March 2020
An excellent show, some hilarious sketches and great musical tribute.

The Q&A has Carol giving a kiss to young man and the audience starts asking for the same from Harvey, Lyle and Vicki.

The first sketch is a "Sunset Blvd" spoof with Carol as Nora Desmond, Harvey as Max the butler and Tim Conway as an advertising man looking for Nora for a TV commercial for a bug spray. There are hilarious moments as Tim gets beaten up by both Nora and Max. Nora has a very funny moment with her co star a bedbug. There is a scene with a sword where Harvey breaks up when he gets hit below the belt with it.

Pearl Bailey does a slow jazzy version of "Where Is Love" from "Oliver".

Tim does a very funny Old Man sketch as a galley slave on a ship with Harvey as his partner. They both start breaking up as soon as they see each other.

Bailey plays a talkative psychiatrist who won't let patient Carol get a word in. They end with a duet on "A Good Man Is Hard To Find".

Carol as a woman accused of murder whose lawyer is F Lee Bunny, (Tim in a rabbit suit).

The finale is a great salute to 20 Century Fox. Carol plays the Julie Andrews role in "The Sound Of Music", Lyle plays one of the children. She starts singing "Do Re Mi" which becomes a brassy bump and grind when she sings to Lyle. Carol does a funny imitation of Carmen Miranda. Then there is funny spoof of "Anastasia" in which Carol is the old royal Russian looking for her lost granddaughter. Vicki is an impostor, but Pearl plays the one she accepts. ("I'm Anastasia baby!" is one of her lines). Carol, Pearl and Vicki are a trio on "Alexander's Ragtime Band', they are joined by the Ernest Flatt dancers and Pearl does a tap dance.

Carol reminds the audience about pollution and Pearl and Tim sign her autograph book.
