Shoe - A Great Ambivalent Feel-Good Story
david-wedel1 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
So I just watched this film last week at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, during the Irish Film Board's Shorts event. There was a great atmosphere and this film was highly anticipated among the shorts.

The story follows a young man on the verge of suicide, but when a homeless man appears out of nowhere, the story takes quite a turn. It's one of those films you watch, with a voice in the back of your head going: "something's about to happen, soon, soon.." and it doesn't. But that's okay, because it doesn't need any of that. There is a clear climax, and I have to admit, the scene gave me the chills - it's when the main character reminisces the best moments in his life. This scene also leads to the punch line of the story - served rightfully by the homeless man.

The story made me feel good and sad at the same time. In my opinion that makes one great short film!
