- The newly formed tribes struggle to find their footing with some castaways making new allies and others seizing the opportunity to take a leadership role.
- Previously on...: The younger tribe dominated the older tribe, which had no food or way of getting it. Marty, though, was happy on the older tribe as he considered himself the power player. At the younger tribe, NaOnka and Kelly B. butted heads. Jimmy T. tried to get some leadership in the older tribe after another loss, but was instead voted out. Holly and Jane were left in trouble.
Espada tribe: Holly says she was shocked that Jimmy T. went home. She thought everyone was going to vote for "the weakest link," being Dan. "I'm on the outs and I know that something has to change," she says.
The following morning, Marty tells us he's not trying to be cocky, but he's "in control." He says he can see himself in power two or three Tribals ahead, which is ideal. He tells Dan he "can't imagine anything going wrong."
"It will take something extraordinary, off the charts, completely whacked out to destroy my plans now," Marty says.
La Flor: NaOnka is feeling great about her place in the competition, saying she's in the power position with Purple Kelly, Brenda, Chase and Sash. "We are controlling this entire game right now," she says.
Surprise! "Drop your buffs," Jeff tells both tribes. "We are switching tribes."
Marty admits he's surprised, saying, "Anything's possible in this game, I was definitely not counting on this right now. Too early."
After a draw for new captains, Brenda and Holly are the new captains. Brenda is happy. She has to choose three people from Espada to join her, and Holly will pick four of La Flor's members to join her. They write names down on a chalkboard without revealing them.
Jeff announces that Jane, Jill and Marty will join La Flor. Alina, Benry, Chase and NaOnka will join Espada. They switch and get new buffs.
"Old versus young is done," Jeff says. "Medallion of Power, done."
Reward challenge: Each tribe drops a ball down a Plinko-like board, and two members of the other tribe have to catch them successfully. The first team to toss three balls and have the other team fail to catch them wins.
Espada takes an early lead after Sash lets a La Flor ball fall. Tyrone then drops one for Espada, tying the game, 1-1. Marty drops a ball for La Flor, giving Espada a 2-1 lead. Alina drops one for Espada, and there's a 2-2 tie, making the final round worth everything -- two chickens and a rooster. Marty bobbles a ball a couple of times, then drops if, giving Espada a victory.
Espada camp: Tyrone starts handing out orders to his new and old tribemates, telling them who generally is responsible for fire, and so on. NaOnka finds it amusing, but says Tyrone is trying be all "G -- which is gangster." Holly finds some commonality with the new younger members of her tribe and looks to team up with NaOnka and Alina. NaOnka also acknowledges that her relationship with Alina has changed "a whole lot."
La Flor camp: Fabio likes the new arrangement.
Marty starts telling the La Flor members how the Espada tribe had a "working camp," where everyone had a job and no one stopped doing things from sunrise to sunset. The younger folks say they were more "chill, laid back." Jane likes this, and she tried to attach to the younger folks, telling some of them that she doesn't trust Marty and Jill.
Marty tells us he's cool with being on the new tribe that doesn't seem to have a leader. He can't believe that NaOnka was allowed to run off with an immunity idol clue. He tells them he hasn't had to lie to anyone or do anything "back-stabbing," then he reveals that he has an immunity idol. Brenda and the crew look in awe of Marty, but Brenda tells us later that she thinks this is the dumbest thing he could have done and it makes him seem arrogant. And dumb.
La Flor: Rain pours down on La Flor and the accommodations are getting bad. The chickens are getting wet, and NaOnka worries that she'll "lose it" if the rain and cold gets to her. She cries and tells Alina she wants to quit. Alina comforts her on the spot, but tells us later she thinks NaOnka is acting like a child and that she hopes NaOnka decides to quit because it will be one less person she has to battle.
Chase tells NaOnka a story about a rainbow. He thought he saw one once in his rear-view mirror, but when he turned to look it wasn't there. That's when he knew his dad "was good." The rain continues into the night and NaOnka says she wants to go home.
Immunity challenge: Marty and Jane were giddy at the immunity challenge about the posh accommodations at the La Flor tribe. Jane said it was nice to be dry overnight. NaOnka flashes a mild annoyed look. Alina tells Jeff the situation at Espada wasn't "bad," but allowed them to "bond in a different way."
Tribe members strapped to a spinning wheel that, at times, submerges them under water, have to collect water in their mouths and spit it into a tube. When enough water is collected in the tube, it was tip over and release a ball that other tribe members will use to break five tiles that are laid out at varying distances. The first team to break all of their tiles wins immunity.
Espada takes a slower approach to allow the spitters to get their water into the tube. La Flor goes faster, aiming to have more chances at spitting water into their tube. Espada's ball releases first. Tyrone hits a tile for Espada, but La Flor catches up quickly. Eventually, it's a 4-4 tie and Fabio breaks La Flor's fifth tile to take the win.
NaOnka says she knew her tribe was going to lose. She adds that she's not a quitter and doesn't want her tribe to think she's a quitter, but, "I think I'm done."
Espada camp: Later, she says she's not nervous at all about Tribal because she's "over it" and OK with going home.
Most everyone decides they want to eat one of the chickens, but Tyrone is against it because he thinks they should maximize their egg production. They take a vote, and Tyrone loses. He doesn't fight it, saying, "it wouldn't be smart to rock the boat right now."
Benry breaks the neck and Holly notices that Tyrone is sitting to the side as the chicken is being plucked and cooked. Benry tells us later that Tyrone ate more chicken than anyone. Benry starts signaling that it might be good to cut Tyrone loose. He also mentions that NaOnka seems like she's falling apart and doesn't seem to care much. Alina says NaOnka seems OK with going home.
Tribal Council: Alina mentions there's "a little bit of turf wars" going on as the tribes merged. Benry calls Tyrone out as "the boss man" and says "what he does usually goes." In answering Jeff's questions, Tyrone says he embraces the position of leader. Tyrone looked incredulous as Alina recounted his "speech" when the tribe first got to camp.
NaOnka says the previous night was more difficult than anything she'd expected from the game. She said it was the most difficult thing since getting a divorce at 26 or 27 years old. She says her tribemates have given her more love and support, as strangers in a competition for $1 million, than she had when she went through her divorce.
Eve says she started questioning NaOnka's commitment and ability to hold out for the long run. NaOnka says everything changes at Tribal Council and that there are "a lot of smart people on this team, so they know when to shut up and when to talk."
Tyrone write NaOnka's name down. Benry writes down Tyrone's name, saying, "It's time to dethrone the king of Espada."
The vote: NaOnka, Tyrone, Tyrone, NaOnka, Tyrone, Tyrone ... and the fifth person voted out was Tyrone.
Tyrone's last words: "What happened was when La Flor came over, things turned away from the tribe aspect," he says. "It's game where anything can happen, and, guess what, anything happened."
