Unfinished (#6.3)

Warning: Spoilers
So Ted is back to not just be a professor but also an architect who will work with Barney to design them the building he started before. And the way they get him there is pretty funny. Barney actually pulls all his moves that he uses to get women, and as we know Barney always gets a "yes". It is also fun how Ted actually enjoys it, especially when Barney gives him complements. And Ted actually manages to get Barney to take him out for dinner.

Besides that we see Robin getting over Don. Her extremely aggressive messages to him are actually pretty funny. And at the end she also manages to finish it.

A nice bonus are lily's karate scenes, including the "waassssup!".

Three Solid Episodes In A Row

Neil Patrick Harris knocks it out if the park once again as Barney Stinson as How I Met Your Mother.

Plot in A Paragraph: When Barney tells Ted that the new GNB headquarters building project is back on and that the job is his once again, Ted declines, preferring his life as a college professor as opposed to his horrible experience working at GNB. Barney is devastated, and reacts in typical Barney fashion. Ted and Marshall realise that Barney's resulting unusual behaviour is him making the moves on Ted like he makes the moves on the women he's trying to pick-up. Meanwhile, Robin catches a bit of Don's new television show, and starts leaving abusive messages on his voicemail.

Any episode that features the brilliant Neil Patrick Harris's character Barney Stinson in the main storyline is always excellent. I could go on and on about the brilliance of this episode, and in particular Neil Patrick Harris but I won't bore you with it.

Profoundly Poignant!

Warning: Spoilers
So I've watched this episode a number of times and every time I end up being awestruck and emotionally moved.

First of all Ted started by saying he desired to give a lecture that will change someone's life. That is something I really want to do as well, not necessarily teaching, but probably a speech, spoken word or an action of some sort.

Secondly, the way they made the whole episode convey the theme of "Unfinished" was superb. Ted starts his lecture but before we see him finish it we go back in time to get context (Ted not wanting to finish his dream of building a building in Manhattan for GNB and Robin not having closure for her just ended relationship with Don) which makes the ending hit so much harder when Ted "finishes" the lecture.

Which brings me to my final point. I say Ted finished the lecture in quotes because he technically didn't finish the lecture. In the lecture he talked about an architect who didn't finish his building because he got hit by a bus. Ted profoundly mentions the fact that most of the time the reason we don't finish something is not due to a misfortune like getting killed by a bus. But rather because there's an obstacle in our way (fear, trauma, comfort, etc) and since we've stopped getting back to that thing seems so much difficult than before. Then Ted ends by saying until we finish whatever it is that is unfinished it will forever remain unfinished.

But he doesn't actually say unfinished which is very symbolic because he didn't finish what he was saying but we all know what he meant and that silent portion where he stops what he is saying and doesn't say unfinished, runs out of the lecture hall, almost gets hit by a bus but unlike the aforementioned architect didn't get hit, and then finally decided to overcome his fear and obstacles to finish what he started is just so inspiring, deeply moving and..............
