Yandy Smith is about to get a big surprise on the next episode of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.
She’s trying to get Mendeecees on board with helping her sister have a baby. Yandy’s sister has been struggling to conceive and it looks like she can’t do it on her own.
That’s where Yandy comes in.
In this exclusive Love & Hip Hop Atlanta sneak peek, Yandy and Mendeecees are spending some time with Brat and Judy, who recently welcomed a child of their own.
Yandy was hoping to get Brat on her side when it comes to helping her sister out. It turns out that’s not the case.
Instead, Brat seemed shocked that Yandy would consider giving her sister an egg because she said, “That’s like your child.”
“That’s what I say,” Mendeecees responded, asking Brat to weigh in some more since she knows how the process works.

The two big original releases on Netflix this month are Spaceman and 3 Body Problem. In Spaceman, Adam Sandler plays an astronaut alone and far from home who desperately wants to fix things with his wife. When he discovers an enormous alien spider in the bowels of his ship, a conversation between the two gets underway, and Sandler has a chance to make some big changes. To be clear: this is not a comedy!
Meanwhile, new sci-fi series 3 Body Problem hails from Game of Thrones co-creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. Along with True Blood writer Alexander Woo, they’ve spun a tale that is set to blow your mind this March. Your mileage may vary, but it certainly looks interesting! And hey, we all love the show’s star, Benedict Wong.

Despite there being far too many firsts still left to achieve, Black creators have indelibly left their mark on the television landscape for decades.
Just think of names like Shonda Rhimes (“Grey’s Anatomy”), Lee Daniels (“Empire”), and Quinta Brunson (“Abbott Elementary”), whose series went on to become credited for reviving network television, or writers like Issa Rae (“Insecure”), Donald Glover (“Atlanta”), and Lena Waithe (“The Chi”), who have been able to build their own sort of TV empire with the shows they have written and/or produced.
Even networks like BET, Starz, and MTV still run off of the creative ingenuity of executive producers like Tyler Perry (“Sistas”), Courtney A. Kemp (“Power”), Mona Scott-Young (“Love and Hip Hop”), and even RuPaul (“RuPaul’s Drag Race”).
Often when retelling the story of Black representation on television, there is first acknowledgment of how the writers rooms initially were not reflective of what their casts looked like.

MTV Entertainment Studios and Showtime’s creative leadership teams are merging, with four more executives being laid off as the latter company’s upcoming consolidation with Paramount+ looms. Nina L. Diaz and Keith Cox will take on expanded roles as chief creative officer/president of content and president of scripted for Showtime/Mtves, respectively, reporting to Chris McCarthy.
News of the restructuring quickly follows McCarthy’s announcement earlier on Monday that Showtime co-presidents of entertainment Gary Levine and Jana Winograde’s roles would be eliminated; the former executive will take on a senior creative advisor role at the cable-streamer, while Winograde was let go as her position was consolidated. At its best, Sundance is really about Cinderella stories — the starving artists who come to Utah hoping to captivate audiences comprised of the industry and the public, effectively crashing the gates of Hollywood.
The most compelling pair of glass slippers at the festival this year belonged to D. Smith, whose directorial debut “Kokomo City” claimed two big awards in the Next section: the coveted audience award and Adobe’s Innovator prize. The film follows four Black trans sex workers in America and is unflinching in its depiction of sex, identity politics and (gasp) levity.
“Kokomo City” is a rare entry in the queer nonfiction genre, in that it does not focus solely on the trauma of marginalized people. The film is so dynamic that the lone juror handing out awards in the Next section, Madeleine Olnek, called it “the funniest movie that has ever played Sundance.”

At a time when linear networks are largely managing the decline, with live viewing of entertainment programming dropping double digits every year, it is very rare for a net to set a multi-year high in primetime. VH1 did it on Monday this week with the return of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta and Love & Hip Hop: Miami, which led the Paramount Global network to its highest Monday primetime Live+Same Day adults 18-49 rating (0.557) and share (3.22) in over two years, since April 2020 and March 2020, respectively.
Veteran Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta kicked off the second half of its tenth season with a 0.68 18-49 rating/4.02 share and 756K total viewers in L+Sd, up +6, 26 and 1, respectively vs. Season 10 averages.
Love & Hip Hop: Miami then turned up the heat as its Season 4B premiere (0.66/9p) posted its best demo rating (0.66) and share (3.60) in more than two years, up 57 and 95, respectively vs. the full prior season.

The producers of “Live Pd” are reviving the show’s live format on Reelz, but under a new working title: “On Patrol: Live” is set to premiere later this summer, the network announced Wednesday. Just like “Live Pd,” the show will air live, twice a week (on Friday and Saturday nights from 9 p.m. to midnight).
The news comes two years after A&e pulled the plug on “Live Pd,” in the wake of ongoing protests against police brutality and concerns over coverage of police activity following the killing of George Floyd in Minnesota.
“Live Pd” was a juggernaut for A&e, dominating cable ratings and spawning multiple spinoffs, including “Live Pd: Wanted,” “Live Pd: Police Patrol,” “Live Pd Presents: Pd Cam.”
Big Fish Entertainment, which was behind “Live Pd,” will produce the new show via Half Moon Pictures, its new arm devoted to crime and investigative series. Dan Abrams,...

Jussie Smollett acknowledged his legal difficulties Thursday at a Harlem premiere screening for his gay romantic drama “B-Boy Blues,” expressing gratitude for finishing his feature directorial debut despite his personal issues.
“Sometimes we all go through things, you know, but what I know for sure is I am so… if I don’t know nothin’, I know how blessed I am,” Smollett said in his first major public appearance since receiving a five-month prison sentence in March for lying to Chicago cops about a racist and homophobic 2019 attack. “I know how grateful I must be. It is not up for debate. I must be grateful. To the universe, to God, to our ancestors, whoever you want to believe it is.”
The former “Empire” acknowledged the challenges of making the film — based on the bestselling 1994 novel of the same name from author James Earl Hardy, who co-wrote the script along with Smollett.

The Below Deck franchise is poised to be a cornerstone of NBCUniversal's reality lineup for the years to come.
Deadline is reporting that the media conglomerate is in the early stages of bringing two new series to fruition.
One of the series will be set around Australia, and the other will be set around Iceland.
The outlet even reveals that 51 Minds Entertainment is aboard the Australia-set season.
The company is well-known for bringing the original series, as well Below Deck: Sailing Yacht and Below Deck: Mediterranean to life.
As for the Iceland-set series, Shed Media is set to bring this series to the masses, but the outlet notes that The Real Housewives and Love & Hip Hop franchises have different production companies across their shows.
The original Below Deck has been a ratings winner for Bravo throughout its eight-season run, with its most recent season concluding on par with the previous season.

Exclusive: Below Deck, the hit Bravo reality franchise, is set to take to the seas with more spinoffs in the works as the franchise continues to make headway.
Deadline understands that NBCUniversal is in the early stages of developing two more spinoffs – a show set around Australia and one set around Iceland.
The Australia-set season is being produced by Banijay-owned producer 51 Minds Entertainment, which is behind the original show and its two existing spinoffs, Below Deck: Sailing Yacht and Below Deck: Mediterranean.
The original series chronicles the lives of crew members who work on and live aboard a superyacht during charter season.
Interestingly, the Iceland-set series is being developed by Warner Bros-owned Shed Media. It’s not unusual for different production companies to produce various spinoffs of a network’s hit franchise in the U.S., given that cable networks often own the rights to shows. This has happened...
