Une petite delice

Warning: Spoilers
A very short short about a teenage boy who is discovering his sexuality and his mother who is also doing the same.

There is no need for a summary of Cappuccino... suffice it to it's a delectable piece of French and Spanish film making.

Imagine Pedro Almodovar meets "Pierre et Gilles". The result is melodrama and gay sexuality with ripe and intense emotions seductively splashed on the screen.

The Script is tight and minimal while the acting is tense and high pitch: perfectly appropriate. There is lots of maturing going on for these characters in between cigarette drags.

I am pretty impressed

Warning: Spoilers
"Cappuccino" is a 15-minute live action short film from 2010, so this one had its 5th anniversary last year already. It is a Swiss production and the language you hear is French. It is the only somewhat known work so far by writer and director Tamer Ruggli. I have seen many many gay-themed short films and 90% of these were really bad in terms of either writing or acting or sometimes even both. this one here is the exception that proves the rule. I think the three main actors in here were all excellent and make a fairly mediocre script look very good. It makes me sad to see that none of the two younger actors have starred in anything else. I hope they decide to return to film as I certainly see the talent, but looking at how this is 6 years old, it does not seem very likely. The older actress who played the mother was convincing too. This film does not go for cheesy happy ending or unrealistic garbage like many gay-themed short films do. It may be brutal, but this also makes it very authentic and real. I certainly enjoyed the watch and this one absolutely stands out from the genre. I recommend you to check it out.

It was too short to be a short

To be honest, it had such a good story towards it that it needed to be finished properly. It just seems that we see the guy not being used by his crush for sex and like, I just wanted to see him be happier with someone who he truly would love for who he is.

His mother didn't help but at least towards the end, she was willing to help him grow up and teach him the ways of life. It was heart breaking for him to be used and like, I just didn't want it to end there. I thought the story had potential but was really disappointed it ended early, if it was a bit longer, I would've given this more stars. I'm going to give this 7/10..

Adorable

Young actor plays an emotionally vulnerable and sweet character, who is crossed up with a more brash character in his class, who he wishes to confess his feelings to.

The film follows nostalgically cliché, sincere sensitivities in adolescent romance - uncertainty, tensions, hope, and innocence. Yet at other times, things are more realistic! Jeremie finds out things don't always go as he planned. The kind of script everyone has experienced.

Overall a touching, tasteful film, both in it's filming and feeling - a pleasant antidote to some of the romance flicks out there. I do feel the film could have been expanded, but perhaps if that was the case things could have been less well tuned and edited. Perhaps he could have fallen in love for a while. But perhaps not.
