Excellent show/bad writers

Perfect example of a show ruined by bad writing and the casting of show killers in it's final season. Kathy Bates and 1st season cast where phenomenal! Show was well written and well acted. It was hard to wait for next episode. I missed this show.

Warning: Spoilers
I have to complain for the fact the Brazilian channel that is showing this series made me think it was a comedy show, but actually it's drama. Not that I don't like dramas, but I just got a little disappointed. But moving on. This first episode showed some interesting performances, mainly Kathy Bates' and the defendants'. Also, it's clear the writer unintentionally (or not) quoted Hans Kelsen when someone in the court said that we have to separate law and justice, because they are different institutes. Other than that, this pilot introduced a reasonable thesis about drugs illegal consume and all the damage it entails. Brazil has the same dilemma and doesn't seem to be solving it any soon. Unfortunately, this first episode had some cheesy dialogs and scenes, which probably means this show is gonna be campy and made for teens and housewives. I hope it's just my (pessimist) impression...

Gramma-gritty, smart and entertaining.

As a die hard Kathy Bates fan, I was apprehensive of her foray into T.V. land at first. I became thoroughly engrossed in the first 10 minutes. The production, writing, and acting are first-rate. Okay, it's not necessarily believable, but it IS entertaining. Best line, "They say it takes a village . . . it's time for the village to step up." Can't wait to see the next installment. Opening scenes were particularly fantastic and hard to believe. They didn't last long and served to frame the remainder of the pilot, however. Even more unbelievable was the interaction between "Harry" and the local mob-boss. Again, this is an introduction to a character I hope we'll see in each show ALONG with his defense attorney, "Harry's" new partner. The probably OCD DA character (Payton) is an instant and perfect foil to "Harry's" hopeful, endearing and successful defense tactics. Again, this works and I hope it catches on!

Harry's Law and Fine Shoes
solojere29 March 2022
I'm a huge Brittany Snow fan, and I've wanted to watch this show forever, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere. However. It was recently added to IMDB TV, and I have to say I was very pleased with the first episode. The subject matter is a good balance between drama and light-hearted comedy. Kathy Bates does a good job as the lead character. The first episode is actually pretty modern and relevant even in 2022, as it deals with race and drug use. However, the show's real star is Brittany Snow as Jenna Backstrom. Not only is Jenna beautiful, but she really brightens ups the show every time she is on screen. I love the idea of Jenna running a shoe store out of Harry's law firm. And Honestly, Brittany is just too cute. I just hope that she has a more significant role in future episodes. But I would highly recommend it.

Kelly blows it again
Redman195623 January 2011
David Kelly does it again. He inserts liberal politics into a perfectly good premise show. He does this every time and it ends up ruining some great entertainment. This time is was near libelous. When will he realize we just want to be entertained, not given some liberal political speech. NBC will regret this one. Check out the dramas on CBS and see how they leave politics out of their shows. Also, no judge would allow rants of the sort Kelly puts in his shows. The area the office is located supposed to be"rough" but all of buildings are mice and the cars are all like brand new. Life is much more complicated than this show reveals to us. Bates is great but just leave the Democrat talking points out of the show. Can we just laugh, cry or just have empathy for these characters.
