Love it or hate it, the Huddy plot device takes the show in a new direction
sams_92221 September 2010
Warning: Spoilers
The 'Huddy' plot device is bound to split audiences - do we really want to see House and Cuddy exploring a romantic relationship, will it be the end of the sexual tension and the end of House? Personally I think that despite the plethora of superb episodes, House is in danger of stagnating if it can't take the characters to a different level and the drug addled or constantly tortured Gregory House plots have certainly run their course. Laurie is a superb actor who has proved capable of displaying incredible vulnerability even when appearing callous so it's not a stretch to see a softer side that has been hinted at but not seen in any great depth before. Undoubtedly the writers will be able to exact plenty of comic moments from the situations faced by the new couple, so for those of you saying 'No', give it a chance, there was enough in season 7 opener Now What? to suggest this will be anything but a perfect relationship, and I for one am going along for the ride.

So out of character it hurts
jorgeaguerreiro6 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
After several seasons of House courting Cuddy, they suddenly get together because the producers decided it was time. Unfortunately, they did it in a way so inconsistent with both their characters that this feels even more like a drug trip than House's vicodin induced hallucinations.

Cuddy just leaves her fioncé the night before, forgets she has a baby and spends the night (and day) with House after spending the previous day away from home. Cuddy even skipped work to tend to Rachel and now she just dismisses her baby because she finally hooked up with someone who she avoided for years.

And she also managed to forget about the hospital. The two defining characteristics of her character, her love for Princeton-Plainsboro and her devotion to her baby, are thrown out of the window just because. I cannot stop going back to the first episodes when there was an epidemic at the hospital, Cuddy was going nuts, and he said the hospital was her baby. Now, with the imminent risk of having several departments closed, she's spending the day out with House.

Its not a bad episode. Its just a negation of years of character development and what was established about the characters. Such things can be done, but there was no setup prior nor build up. They just decided to do it because.

At this point, why even have stories? They should have just had Laurie say stuff for 40 minutes and it would be just as effective...

Totally Lame and Boring
Johnny_West2 September 2021
Season six ended with a patient of House dying. That should have been what pushed him over the edge. Instead, the incredibly unlikely and lame salvation came from Dr. Cuddy, who suddenly got rid of her boy-toy fiancee in order to save the miserable Dr. House. What a major cop-out by the writers.

Season seven begins with endless scenes of bedroom bliss, as a body-double is romping in bed with House. The face is only in close-ups, since they wanted to show Lisa Edelstein with the body of a twenty year old girl, totally youthful and wrinkle-free.

This is easily the most boring and worst episode of the entire series. 35 minutes of pillow-talk between Hugh Laurie, who looks like he is in pain during every romantic moment, and Lisa Edelstein, who looks like she is crying for her career as she pretends to have feelings for House.
