Conclusion reveals Caine and McLean the same blood
kevinolzak20 August 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Season 3 Episode 8- "Blood of the Dragon" concludes with the knowledge that Henry Raphael Caine was murdered by his own grandson Johnny, under the evil influence of Sara Kingsley, his maternal grandmother, who bore Henry a daughter out of wedlock, the mother of both Johnny and Margit. 40 years of bitterness has poisoned her to the point of turning her grandson into a murderer, but once he learns that it was his grandfather he killed, he immediately shows great remorse and sorrow, and is forgiven by Kwai Chang Caine. The three Dragons await their showdown with the priest, and all the Kingsleys are endangered by their actions, with only one left standing by the end. Clyde Kusatsu does double duty as the young Han Su Lok, and also elderly mystic Lama Campo Kushog. Patricia Neal makes a formidable villainess, and lovely Season Hubley, before she met and married Kurt Russell, inadvertently betrays Caine, not knowing they are cousins. This was a rare teaming of real life father and son Eddie Albert and Edward Laurence Albert, whose mother was the lovely Mexican actress known only as Margo (she died in 1985). Tad Horino's Cowled Head makes his third and final appearance. Although the fight scenes are well done, they tend to undercut the juicy melodrama that was built up so well in part one. Still, the sight of Caine battling himself could not have been bettered. Perhaps the high point of the third season. Next up- "The Demon God"

This is what we think of when we celebrate this series. Great acting, powerful story, wisdom and mystery. Definitely the height of the series.
