A Great Start..

An excellent opening episode for what turned out to be an excellent series that went 7 seasons. Strong lead actors and a great supporting cast made this show a winner.

No spoilers for this episode but I'll bet after watching this one, you'll be back to watch more.

Recommended.

The casting is great, the writing snappy and it was a treat to see Billy Burke outside of the Twilight saga. Wonderful to see Angie Harmon on PrimeTime again, also Sasha Alexander! I'm glad that it's not obliquely PC nor horribly liberal as so many shows are wont to be. I like the exchange between the cast as that is something you see after several years together. Can't wait to see the upcoming series. Just enough intrigue, suspense, humor and crisp writing to keep it suspenseful. I love Lorraine Bracco as her mother (is she old enough to be her mother???)

I enjoy the fact they don't treat the viewers as stupid, allowing us to see the episode in an intelligent and forthright manner. You cheer for the protagonist, have a clear definition of the antagonist. Thank you, writers for bringing another great series to TNT.

Warning: Spoilers
....that lasted from 2010 to 2016 and boosted the careers of Angie Harmon (as Boston Police Department Detective Jane Rizzoli) and Sasha Alexander (as that lovable coroner Maura Isles). Rizzoli and Isles liaises with FBI agent Gabriel Dean as the serial killer Charles Hoyt (Michael Massee), known as the Surgeon, is currently behind bars. Yet there are a series of copycat murders. And the Surgeon manages an escape. And Jane's life is on the line. RIZZOLI AND ISLES also introduced the characters of Vince Korzak (Bruce McGill), Barry Frost (the late Lee Thompson Young), Jane's brother Frankie Rizzoli (Jordan Bridges), and their dear sweet mother Angela Rizzoli (Lorraine Branco). In the end, Jane gets the best of the Surgeon and his sidekick known as the Apprentice (Brendan McCarthy). This was a great series, and you can see it on StartTV. And there you have it. Now you know what to do.

Rizzoli & Isles is incredibly bland.

Everything about the show is boring, generic, and stereotyped. The characters, the stories, the plot points.

Its like they ripped off a hundred other police shows and built something that cannot measure up to any of them. I give it 1/10 because the leads are cute. Not cool, not fun, not interesting, definitely not original. Just cute.

The only minor surprise was one use of the S word so I checked IMDB and apparently it was made for cable.

It did not elevate the uninspired dialog at all. This is a time filler, and given that it got 7 whole seasons, I'd say it fulfilled its purpose very well.
