Gross and funny, with just a hint of wistful
Sjhm6 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
This is an absolute hoot of a short. From the moment the Hapless Hero steps in the inexplicable goo on the beach you have the sense that this is not going to end happily. And in the grand tradition of early Dr Who stories, and 50s black and white B movies this proves to be the case. The shot of the forlorn green dog collar floating on the surface of this sinister slime adds a hint of menace. Our hero's apartment and the answering machine message from his mother establishes him as the perennial loser, the guy that things happen to. In spite of the fizzing and the goo, and the moments of grossness, this is wickedly funny. Could be a little tighter, and HH could have been either a little more or a little less of a loser. He did at times hover dangerously in the zone of limbo.

Very funny, with sizzling special effects

Warning: Spoilers
In this hilarious spoof of the great teen horror movies of the 50's and 60's, the writers have taken the common theme of a blob or other alien substance thriving on human flesh, and updated it to highlight the crazy world of Hollywood 2010, and remind us that sometimes, the underdog doesn't get the girl.

From the opening scene, to the tragic, yet hilarious ending, you will enjoy this short. The entire cast puts in great performances, the camera work and editing are excellent, and the story well written.

The special effects are done very well, and just gross enough to make you cringe.

The moral of the story: Be careful who you lust for, and never pick your nose.

Believe me, you'll never look at your Kombucha the same. Cheers!
