Damon's poetry debut

Warning: Spoilers
Ray's day does not start well. He's without gas and must push his own vehicle, stepping in water puddles on the road. All is not lost, as he arrives at the school, he is greeted by the students in an appreciative manner. That changes his mood. Mike, the assistant coach, is not having a great day. Mike is worried about losing his job, being of a certain age, and not going anywhere. Ray tries to cheer him up.

Tanya has not given up the idea of selling a tryst with Ray to the wealthy widow. When we meet Tanya she has gone to donate blood, where, as it happens, the lady in question is doing her share. Tanya takes the approach to have Ray meet Frances for dinner instead of going to bed right away, as a way to make it easier for the woman.

Damon has taken his sister to the Lost Souls Cafe. He wants to recite a poem of his own inspiration. The piece involves his twin sister Darby and their connection in the mother's womb. Darby is repulsed by what she hears and walks out. Damon, stopping her, offers his explanation of the poem. A man is giving away free scones, and Damon asks for three! Jessica and Ronnie are seen in bed doing their thing. Ronny is in an amorous mood; his only desire is to have Jessi conceive a child that will solidify their marriage. He has discovered she is not as serious, as he is, because Jessica has not given up on her birth control pills. Jessica storms out of the room naked, followed by Ronnie, as Damon is coming up the stairs in a doped state the 'laced' scones have made him high.

As Ray is preparing to go to dinner with Frances, he splashes some of the "Matador" cologne Tanya had given him. Tanya wants Ray to be on time for his date, but fate intervenes in the way of a call from Darby who tells her dad about Damon acting strange. Ray has thought about sending Mike to the dinner, as a "sub", something that when Tanya hears about it, gets her riled up. Ray has to go to get Mike to help him, something it is not too clear to the assistant coach, but he decides to to anyway.

The next thing we see is Mike and a somewhat bored Frances at the restaurant. He is clearly enjoying himself, even insisting in picking up the tab. The next day Mike, who was in the dumps, is another person. He enjoyed his night out with Frances. Mike wants to keep dating her.

This episode was not written by Colette Burson and Dmitry Lipkin, the creators. Instead, the screenplay came from Eileen Myers, who has contributed to "Big Love" and other programs. Adam Davidson, another man with a lot of experience in television directed. The show followed the story line that has been the norm for the program.

Gregg Henry, who plays the assistant coach, Mike, has some good moments playing against Thomas Jane and Roxanne Hart, seen as Frances, the wealthy widow. Jane Adams has some fun telling off "Horny Patty", played by Laureen Weedman. The regulars contribute to make one of the most amusing series for adult audiences.
