Too Mired in Soap Opera
GunnersMate27 May 2018
Monstrosity has a few funny moments and a CG monster that is entertaining enough, but it gets mired in the world of the soap opera and bad behavior. Grant is an arrogant buttinski who did little to improve this particular episode (though his territorial man moments against Carter were mildly smile-inducing). Kevin was more interesting in the old time line; and here he is an ungrateful and arrogant teenager more than any other attribute. To make it worse, Allison only serves to encourage poor behavior in the men and boy around her lately. The intended romantic humor for Deputy Andy is one part goofy-sweet and one part creepy and uncomfortable (depending on his intended partner), so it is a "wash" in the end. Not horrible, but just not a particularly engaging episode to watch.

Kevin and Grant

The weakest characters of this season are Kevin and Dr. Grant. Grant has his moments but oh my god he is so obnoxious. Carter is right to dislike him because Grant tried to trap Carter in 1947. And I feel like I shouldn't say this, but I liked it better when Kevin had autism.

Give us a break

I miss the old characters and their relationships. This new timeline is just annoying and Momstrosity is the worst of the lot - so far. Grant is as arrogant and irritating as Gaius Baltar was in BSG. Kevin - what a pain. Autistic Kevin was far more relatable than this whiny little know-it-all.

I still love the show; I just can't wait for this out-of-time nonsense to end.

It's all about the relationship.

Warning: Spoilers
The crashing and burning continues with this episode. I suppose the writers just completely ran out of ideas and turned to another Canadian channel (Hallmark) to spice up the works. The story line is all but abandoned for the sake of Henry - Grace, Jack and or Dr. Old Spice - Allison, Andy - Sarah, ad nauseum. Sadly, this trend of relationships and who's sleeping with who will not only continue but get much worse. The plot will peek in on occasion but only briefly. This show should have ended last season. At least they could have gone out with a little dignity left. And for the record, I liked Kevin a lot better in the other time line. Here he is an obnoxious, smart-mouthed, sarcastic cartoon of a teenage. Dear writers: Can you possibly come up with any more "teen" expressions, Dude?
