Imagine an on-the-road concert documentary shot in the anything-goes days of 1970 — a hurly-burly vérité jamboree like “Mad Dogs & Englishmen” or “Elvis on Tour.” It’s about the biggest rock band in the world. It encompasses 11 shows in 26 days, with headlines and controversies and a film crew to capture it all. We see the band members backstage, on planes, in their nightly lodgings, and onstage. The crowds are rapturous.
“What the Hell Happened to Blood, Sweat & Tears?” is, in a way, that movie. The band that’s on tour, the mighty but fraught Blood, Sweat & Tears, was full of great musicians who most people didn’t know by name. Yet as fronted by the intoxicating huskiness of lead singer David Clayton-Thomas, they emerged from the embers of the counterculture to become one of the first true supergroups. By the time their 1970 tour arrived, Blood, Sweat & Tears were the most popular rock band in America,...

Premiering this Friday, Amazon’s sunny, sinister and often outrageously funny new crime comedy Mad Dogs drops you in the middle of a never-ending “Choose Your Own Misadventure” story. By page 30, you’re lost in a foreign city, desperately looking for somewhere to stash your rental car. You can’t use your phone to help you because your idiot friend threw it away – he thought it was being tracked (it wasn’t…right?). If the car’s not safely hidden, someone might notice that it contains $5 million in stolen drug money, which you’re trying to return to a notorious crime lord before he kills you. Of course, he might just kill you anyway, because your other idiot friend (he’s dead now) left the gangster’s yacht somewhere in the Caribbean. It’s a long story.

The world of Doctor Who has changed greatly in the space of just 10 years. The cast and crew have almost completely been replaced since 2005, including a number of new actors to play the errant Time Lord and his companions.
But what has happened to the class of '05? Where are Rose and Mickey now? What is the writer of 'Dalek' up to? And where can you see more work from the director of 'Rose'?
Here it is then, your guide to the main players of Doctor Who series one.
The Cast
After his three-month on-screen stint as the Doctor, Christopher Eccleston's career continued in much the same vein, taking in theatre, interesting television roles and the odd blockbuster.
Post-2005, the Northern actor went Stateside to take on the role of invisible man Claude in the Us series Heroes. From there, he popped up in a very amusing Doctor Who-esque cameo as Dr.

Amazon's fifth round of competing pilots included seven offerings, making it the site's most expansive pilot season yet. Out of those seven choices, three new series have emerged. Amazon Studios has green-lit full seasons of The Man in the High Castle, The New Yorker Presents, and Mad Dogs, while also renewing Mozart in the Jungle for a second season.
Out of all the pilots in Amazon's new season, The Man in the High Castle is easily the most ambitious. Based off a novel by Philip K. Dick, it presents an alternate history in which the Axis Powers won World War II. One of the series' executive producers will be Ridley Scott, who knows a thing or two about Philip K. Dick screen adaptations. In a press release, Amazon Studios VP Roy Price noted that The Man in the High Castle ended up as "our most watched pilot ever."

Amazon released its latest batch of pilots a couple of weeks ago, in the midst of press tour, so it took me a while to get to them, and I still haven’t had time to watch “Point of Honor.” But I saw all the other adult scripted series, and two clearly stood out as the ones I hope go to series: “The Man in the High Castle,” about a reality where the Axis powers won WWII, and “Mad Dogs,” about four middle-aged friends (played by Steve Zahn, Romany Malco, Michael Imperioli and Ben Chaplin) whose vacation to visit a fifth old pal (Billy Zane) goes terribly awry. Both are adaptations with top-notch U.S. producers involved: “Man in the High Castle” with Frank Spotnitz working from the Philip K. Dick novel, “Mad Dogs” with Shawn Ryan teaming up with “Mad Dogs” UK creator Cris Cole. Amazon moves at its...

Streaming television shows have made a major mark on the television landscape over the past few years, whether it’s by winning awards, or simply being part of the cultural conversation. Amazon has been no slouch in this department, with their show Transparent garnering its own level of acclaim, both critically and commercially. Among the newest crop of pilots from the streaming service is Mad Dogs. Based on the UK show of the same name, the series is created by Cris Cole and executive produced by Shawn Ryan. The pilot, while indicating some major holes, also shows some promise for a potential show.

It’s a twisted tale of friendship put to the ultimate test. Mad Dogs follows the reunion of a group of underachieving forty-something friends—a mix of single, married and recently divorced—who are all at different crossroads in their lives.
While celebrating the early retirement of an old friend at his villa in Belize, grudges begin to emerge and secrets explode as their trip becomes a labyrinthine nightmare of lies, deception and murder.
As an inconceivable chain of events unfolds, cracks within the group widen before the friends realize that the only people they can trust are each other, the last people they want to be relying on.
The hour-long dark comedy stars Steve Zahn (Dallas Buyers Club) as Cobi, Billy Zane (Twin Peaks) as Milo, Romany Malco (Weeds) as Gus, Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos) as Lex and Ben Chaplin as Joel.

It's been an eventful nine months for The Musketeers - both on- and off-screen - since we last saw Athos, Aramis, Porthos and D'Artagnan ride off into the sunset.
Launching with an audience of 9.3m in January 2014, the period romp became the BBC's biggest new drama since Call The Midwife - but while a second series was quickly ordered, the show was soon hit by the loss of its chief antagonist.
Departing for Doctor Who, Peter Capaldi - who'd played devious Cardinal Richelieu - left The Musketeers without a villain, but when Digital Spy visited the Prague set in September, spirits among the cast and crew were far from dampened.
"No disrespect of course to the great Mr Capaldi..." says actor Howard Charles, the burly Porthos, "...but Marc Warren as Rochefort is the next best thing."

So far, Amazon has scored one big hit in the form of Jeffrey Tambor-led dramedy Transparent, and it hopes to find some more in the new lineup of pilots, which will be made available for viewing as part of the company’s first pilot season of 2015.
