Doppelgangers (#5.24)

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this season finale. Sweet smart and funny like many of their episodes.

The doppelganger joke is great, I just hope we get to see the real one for Barney at some point. But they made it in a pretty sweet way as a sign that Lily is ready for a baby.

Ted's talk on how people all change and become their own doppelgangers was great as well. But I must say I don't like what Robin is doing. I don't even feel bad for her that the guy left her for the job, now he did a smart thing.

A great part was also that they for a bit made us believe that for the season finale they bring Robin and Ted back, but luckily it was saved by Ted's blond hair.

5th Season

Warning: Spoilers
Another great season, the consistency is unreal and the humour is fruitful as ever. Despite a few hit and miss episodes How I Met Your Mother's fifth season continued to demonstrate all the qualities that made the previous four years so watchable on a fairly regular basis.

Sure the clever use of flashbacks and cutaways may not have quite the same impact they had when the show first started but episodes like 'The Playbook' and 'The Perfect Week', which must surely rank amongst the best the show has ever produced, are a perfect illustration of its unique brand of storytelling and it is very rare not to have a good few laughs along the way.

Season 5 Finale
slightlymad2221 January 2015
In the final episode of season five of "How I Met Your Mother" we have a few laughs in a classic episode

Plot In A Paragraph: Intent on letting the universe decide when they have a baby, Marshall and Lily are still waiting till they see Barney's doppelgänger before trying for a baby. They are delighted when they see Barney doppelgänger is a New York City taxi driver. Marshall rings Barney at work to confirm its not him, using a disguise to pull women and when he has a phone conversation with him, they decide to try for a baby. Meanwhile the gang trick Ted into dying is hair blond and Robin considers moving to Chicago for a great job opportunity.

The doppelgänger running joke has been a lot of fun, as was Ted dyeing his hair. Sadly this episode brought us back to the Ted and Robin romance (which this reviewer wish not a fan of) again, which may be played out over season 6.

A fine ending for a disappointing season
In the final episode of season 5, we have Marshall and Lily deciding to get a baby since they stipulated earlier in this season that they will do so if they see the 5th doppelganger of the group, which is Barney. Besides that, Robin gets offered a job as a news anchor at an important station in Chicago, but can't decide what she should do because she is actually in love with her boyfriend and co-anchor Don at the moment. So, while this is definitely not a very special season finale with big things or cliffhangers happening, it does feature hilarious scenes. For example, the doppelgangers of Barney (yes, there are more than one) or Ted dyeing his hair blonde (for real!!!) and the hilarious jokes that the other group members have got for that. Most of the actors, with exception of Jason Segel and Neil Patrick Harris, are acting rather weakly in this episode and the screenplay isn't that good. However, it's a nice season finale with some important decisions being made and funny parts as well. I enjoyed this episode although I have to say that it's very reflecting on the whole season: nice to watch, but they can do it a lot better as we know it from the first season.
