The fire seen on the ground after the explosion, while Hank speaks with the reporter, was created using a flammable jelly. Since the background firefighters were real local firemen, they were told to act like they would if at a real fire. When one firefighter started extinguishing the fire, the jelly splashed on his leg and the scene had to be stopped to put out the fire. The firefighters were then told not to put out the fires, but poke around them searching through the debris.
