Sideways Sidesteps What Police Go Through ****

One of the best episodes ever was shown this evening. We see random violence taking 3 lives.

Regina King was phenomenal here the way she stayed with a dying victim and told him what to do. This was even after she was suspended for leaking the photos.

Our officer whose partner was killed identified the wrong person on the line-up. His life seems to be in total chaos.

Police chase guidelines is shown here when an innocent pedestrian was struck and killed by a police car in a car chase against the bad guys. The female officer who hit the pedestrian reflects on why she chose such a career.

When it's determined who leaked the pictures, Regina King tells it like it is. She was absolutely mesmerizing this evening.

Things fall apart

'Sideways' can't be any more perfect a title for this episode. Every situation seems to go that way; whether it's a concussion turning into a lodged bullet, a cop who can't i.d. is partner's killer in a lineup or a wayward pedestrian killed in a routine police chase. This is one of those days in which circumstances just turn on everyday people. Phenomenal acting in this one, particularly from Regina King and Shawn Hatosy. It's another Season 3 home run.

The leaked photos story finally comes to an end, vindicating Lydia - but also turning a decent character (Tom Everett Scott) into a real jerk. If I hadn't known that there'd be redemption for him down the road, this bombshell would really irk me.
