Warning: Spoilers
Paul is seen arriving at Steve's home in suburban Maryland. It is a sprawling modern house, in contrast with his tight space back in Brooklyn. Paul decided to bring Max back to live with Kate and Steve because of the incident in the kitchen the previous night in which Max, trying to be helpful, set a frying pan on fire. Paul talks to Max in the car. He tells Max not to be afraid to love Steve, who seems like a good man. Paul is sure Max and Steve will get along fine. At this point, Steve emerges from the house and invites Paul to come in for a cup of coffee, but Paul begs to be excused as he has to get back home and he is afraid of the traffic.

When Paul reappears, he enters Adele's office holding a bag. He is terribly late. In spite of having notified Adele, she seems uncomfortable with his late arrival. The bag contains a remedy for his migraine. Paul even asks her permission to leave the bottle at her office in case he needs them. Adele is clearly upset, not only because of his being late, but by Paul's obvious confession about fancying her as his lover. She maintains her cool and tries to conduct a semblance of a session in the short time left for it.

Tension is clear between Paul and Adele. She feels the situation has become more than she expected in dealing with a colleague that shows all the signs for being in turmoil. Paul wants to talk to her about his patient Sunil, but there is no time for it. Paul begs for more time, but Adele stands her ground and will not budge for his request. Paul shows signs of being going through an inner crisis, which surprises us, when he is a cool and collected individual in dealing with extreme cases on his own.

Courtney Hunt directed this episode. It was written by Anya Epstein and Dan Futterman, who are part of the team behind the series. Gabriel Byrne and Amy Ryan are at their best in this chapter that shows a tension between patient and his therapist because of the feelings Paul has for Adele.
