What's the plan, Superman?...
Chalice_Of_Evil14 May 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I liked Damon asking for Elena's forgiveness/admitting he was wrong to feed her his blood against her will. Nice to hear him admitting he was wrong for once, and not pushing Elena further when she said she needed time. Damon was a lot more subdued (than we're used to him being) in their first scene together, and I liked that. Also liked the use of song that played as he did his drinking/attempted suicide burning. The scene was very well shot, I thought.

Drunk Alaric was great. Him fighting with the barmaid over the bottle of liquor, his live message that he left when his phone rang, and him pointing out that he's apparently not allowed to help but only stand by and let his girlfriend die. I totally got what he was saying/how he was feeling and didn't blame him for his attitude one bit (a guy's allowed to go on a bender after his girlfriend has been killed horribly by a werewolf/vampire hybrid). Though he certainly got over it quickly when he heard his buddy, Damon, was in trouble. The Damon/Alaric bromance conquers all.

I knew Elena couldn't stay mad at Damon (all it took was her learning he had the supposedly fatal werewolf bite). She can't seem to make up her mind about Damon. Hating him, loving him, it's all a big bundle of chaos in Elena's mind. I guess her do-gooder nature came through once again and she can't help but show concern for him when his life is in jeopardy.

All the Damon & Katherine flashbacks looked nice.

Can't say I was too broken up about Klaus stabbing Elijah (that's what you get for not killing Klaus when you had the chance), but him stabbing Stefan wasn't so nice. The whole bit about the stake scraping against his heart was well played/kinda creepy. Poor Stefan. It feels like he's been staked practically every episode lately.

Really good scene between Alaric & Damon. I especially liked Alaric's "Neither one of us is drunk enough for this conversation." line after Damon started trying to goad Alaric into hating him (Jenna's death, turning Isobel, etc). I also liked that when Damon wanted Alaric to kill him, Alaric said "Screw you." and injected him with Vervain. Theirs is a twisted love.

Good on Jeremy for calling out Bonnie in regards to her leaving him behind last time and the fact that Jenna still died. Jeremy's always at his best when he shows concern for Elena, so I actually liked him in this scene. Don't look so shocked at how he acted, Bonnie.

Damon speeding out of the way and Jeremy getting shot by the Sheriff as a result was quite a surprise. As if the Sheriff wasn't too stupid to live *already* (not heeding Alaric's and Elena's warnings about Damon), then she went and did this. Seriously, we lose Jenna but the Sheriff still lives? Talk about injustice. Someone needs to shoot the Sheriff already! Good on Elena for breaking out and not being content to just stay locked up.

Klaus forcing Stefan to drink human blood is an interesting development (about time Stefan got an interesting storyline). Looks like there might be a bit of a role reversal in s3. Will be interesting to see Stefan live out his evil side, but I feel bad for him too.

I had to laugh at Alaric's line, when Bonnie was trying to get the witches to bring Jeremy back, and he said "Tell them to shut up!". Though hopefully Jeremy didn't pull a Season 6 Buffy and came back "wrong".

The cutting between the present Elena & Damon and flashback Katherine & Damon was really well done.

Alaric poking fun at Jeremy & Bonnie's mushy talk was amusing.

The debate as to whether Damon deserved to die could go on forever. I'll just say it was good to hear HIM admit that he believed he deserved to die. And while I understand Elena telling him that she forgave him (he was on death's door), her saying that she likes him how he is *now* is a bit worrisome (really, Elena, you like mass murderer Damon?). Well, we all know Elena forgets things fast.

I got a laugh out of Katherine's & Elena's "I thought you were dead."/"I was." exchange.

Evil Stefan should prove interesting. And this shows just how much he cares for Damon - that fact that he was willing to go back to his evil tendencies to get the cure (and I'm willing to bet this will eventually cause a rift between him and Elena, thereby breaking them up - and just in time for Damon to swoop in, I'm sure).

The reveal of Vicki & Anna was interesting (is Jeremy going to go around crazy-eyed now, creepily whispering "I SEE dead people!"?), but felt more like a typical end-of-episode cliffhanger, not an end-of-season cliffhanger (and certainly didn't match the far superior Season 1 cliffhanger). Actually, last episode felt more like a season final than this episode did.

TVD Season 2 broke the tradition of the 'Sophomore Slump' that so many shows have suffered, I thought. The amount of twists and turns/risks this season took were quite impressive. The pace seemingly never let up, and I thought it did pretty well at equalling the quality of Season 1 (although I'm still mad about losing Jenna). Season 2 definitely did not suck, in my opinion, and I applaud the show for being able to keep up the breakneck pace that it has become known for. No other show is quite like TVD, and unlike so many other shows that have turned crap nowadays, I believe this series is still going strong. Kudos for having an excellent second season, TVD. Keep it up, and I look forward to your return.

Great Conclusion of the Second Season
claudio_carvalho7 November 2013
Damon asks Elena to forgive him for biting her but she does not accept his apologies. Soon Damon is raving and he has daydreams with his life with Katherine in the past and Elena in the present. Stefan tells Elena Damon's condition and she decides to seek him out. Stefan meets Bonnie and discovers that Klaus might save his brother and he looks for Klaus. Meanwhile Jeremy finds Damon and brings him to the Grill; however Sheriff Forbes shoots Damon but hits Jeremy instead and he dies. Alaric brings Jeremy's body and Bonnie tries to resurrect him using her witch powers, but there is a side effect. Stefan meets Katherine in the apartment and out of the blue, Klaus arrive with Elijah. Stefan learns that Klaus's blood can save his brother and he accepts the horrible condition imposed by Klaus to save his brother.

"As I Lay Dying" is a great conclusion of the Second Season. The twist with Stefan's behavior may be highly interesting and change the fates of Elena and other characters. Jeremy's vision seeing dead people is also promising. Klaus bringing Elijah close to his family was predictable. My vote is nine.

I'm Sorry......Forgive Me....
barsaat16 May 2011
Warning: Spoilers
"I'm Sorry......Forgive Me...." In the beginning of the episode he goes to visit an ice cold Elena (Nina Dobrev) to apologize. She brushes him off saying she needs time. He accepts that and returns home for a stiff drink. Throughout the episode Damon weaves between present day Elena and flashbacks of Katherine (Nina Dobrev).

Vampire Suicide Attempt Damon knows what's in store for and can't bear it. After his drink he opens the curtains, removes his day walker ring and lets the sun do its worst. We see his reflection in the mirror before the burning starts. Stefan (Paul Wesley) throws him to the floor (there's a lot of that in this episode) to save him. He assures Damon that they can find a cure and Bonnie (Katerina Graham) is working on it.

Lights, Camera, Action! * Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) shoots Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) instead of Damon. Oops.

* Stefan (Paul Wesley) gives himself over to to Klaus (Joseph Morgan), feasts on human blood bags and ultimately kills a girl, all to get a vile of hybrid blood from Klaus to save Damon.

* Caroline (Candice Accola) and her mommy hug and make up.

* Klaus lets Katherine go and reveals to Stefan that he knew she was on vervain.

* Damon takes a hard nibble of Elena during the outdoor screening of "Gone With the Wind," thinking she's Katherine.

* Flashbacks reveal Damon willfully chose to drink Katherine's blood.

"I Love You" Damon finally spills all the words he's been longing to say. Those common phrases have been stuck in his throat and it took the bite of a werewolf and a near-death experience to expel them. While he is on his death bed, Nina crawls into bed with him and he confesses his love for her. She kisses him on the lips. Katherine waltzes in with the cure and she tells Elena, "You can love then both, I did." Katherine did her good deed, Damon is saved, Stefan is doomed.

Poor Elijah From super villain to honorable vampire to naive brother, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) has worn many hats. He should have made Klaus promise not to kill him. Instead, he only asked that he be reunited with his family. Klaus kept his promise when he killed Elijah and then stored his corpse in a crate-filled warehouse where the other family members supposedly rest.

He Sees Dead People! Mother nature has a way of working things out. Bonnie was warned by Emily and the other dead witches that saving Jeremy would have consequences. At first it seemed as if Bonnie would die while saving him, exchanging a life for a life. But she survives. Later Jeremy tells his girlfriend the witch, "I feel different." He gets out of bed and we see moving shadows. Downstairs Alaric (Matt Davis) is sleeping on the couch. Vicki Donovan (Kayla Ewell), his former love interest is following him downstairs and the girl who used to have a crush on him, Anna (Malese Jow) appears in front of him. Jeremy seems stuck between two worlds. By bringing the youngest Gilbert back from the dead, "The Vampire Diaries" created endless possibilities to bring any dead character back to the show. It's genius

LOVED the ending!

Warning: Spoilers
Anna was one of my favorite characters in season 1. I was deeply invested in Anna x Jeremy. I prefer it WAY more then Bonnie x Jeremy. Great to see Vicky back too.

Also Stefan going bad vampire again is really interesting. Klaus is a great villain and I hope Elijah gets revived again in season 3, I liked him.

Season 3 is gonna be epic! :D.

a great finish to vampire diaries season 2
jackDee-5656527 December 2020
Unpopular opion, I prefer season 1 out of the earlier season to be honest, seasons 2 and 3 went too far into the love triangle for my tastes, founders day was a better season finale, but overall i dig as I dying I love Stefan embraces his ripper self to save his brother, the only reason I think this seasonnfinale is the weakest in the series is the final scene is Jeremy seeing ghosts, like who cares it should have ended when feed from that girl, I love ripper Stefan during the first half of season 3 however season 3 is my least faviourate season it just got twilight love traingle for me
