Touching Episode
claudio_carvalho11 March 2017
In the parallel universe, a kidnapper called The Candy Man abducts the boy Max. The Fringe Division is assigned to investigate the case and soon Olivia learns that Broyles' son Christopher was also abducted two years ago and returned blind and with physical deficiencies to his family. She asks Broyles to interview Christopher to see any missing information but Broyles does not accept; however his wife agrees that Olivia meets Christopher. Olivia recalls an old case and guess whether The Candy Man would be draining the pituitary gland from the children to use the hormones to stay young. Based on the received information, Olivia and Broyles meet Reverend Marcus, who was a former physician and now is responsible for a church where they believe the abductor is a member. Meanwhile Olivia meets Henry and asks him to help her to go to the Liberty Island to use the deprivation tank to return to her universe.

"The Abduction" is a touching episode of "Fringe". Olivia makes the difference in the alternate universe and affects Broyles, his son Christopher, Max and Henry. The conclusion is cliffhanger and it is possible to imagine how the viewer that watched this series broadcast might have felt having to wait for a week to see the sequel. My vote is nine.

Olivia's Last Fauxlivia Case
XweAponX29 April 2012
Warning: Spoilers
This episode sets up the background for Alternate-Broyle's son which was how JonesJonesJones was able to manipulate Foeyles in Season 4.

An Old Man is shown shaving his hair, while praying out loud. Then a Child is put to sleep by his Mother, but is kidnapped by the man: who apparently can fly out of second-story windows.

As this case happens "Over There" it is Fringe Division who is called to deal with the case - As all abduction cases are always handled by Fringe Division, due to Walter crossing over and taking Walternate's Peter.

This episode magically develops the Alternate-Broyles/Fauxlivia relationship, except that only we, Alt-Broyles, Walternate, and Brandon-erd know that Fauxlivia is actually Olivia - Agents Charlie and Lincoln also beginning to suspect.

In the cases here, the children are kidnapped, and returned with Health Degraded- Such had happened to Christopher Broyles (Curtis Harris). Fringe Division never found out who did it, until now. These kidnappings are called "The Candyman" Kidnappings.

Once Olivia gets involved, she sees right away that they need to expand the profile to include two suspects, not just one. She wants to interrogate Broyle's Son. Broye's agrees to this, and Christopher himself wants to help. During his interview, a Prayer Christopher remembers leads to a religious Cult which does apparent "Miraculous" Healings for it's congregation - A Congregation of people who look young. Olivia's involvement closes the case, and Christopher can now rest easy, much to Alt-Broyles appreciation.

During all of this, Olivia sets up an "escape" with her Taxi-Driver friend Henry (Andre Royo) - And in the end, AltBroyles lets Olivia know that he knows her memory has returned. Henry brings Olivia to the DoD at the Statue of Liberty in a boat - But can she get back to her universe before Walternate finds out?

A wonderful and crazy episode from the alternate universe
ajkbiotech24 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
While Fauxlivia is impersonating Olivia in our universe, Olivia, trapped in Walter-net's universe, must carry on as an agent.

She rescues after a dramatic manhunt, a captive child abductee of the "Candyman" a terrible criminal who abducts and abuses young boys.

But in a supremely surprising twist, the CandymN was working with another Evil man, the reverend from the Church-Olivia's tip to the late Lance Reddick allows him to stop the Reverend as well.

But Olivia slips and uses the word "FBI" to young Max, which tips off Lance that she is Olivia from the other universe.

Meanwhile, her buddy the taxi driver ferries her to Liberty Island so she can cross over back to our universe.

The drama builds and builds.

Olivia accesses the flotation tank in an effort to cross over. She does cross over, but evil Walter-net catches her and pulls her back. Her escape attempt is foiled at the very last moment.

But she manages to convey a secret message to Peter via a nice Lady in a tourist store while she has crossed over briefly.

Amazing!

Well, Well, Well
Hitchcoc8 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The real Olivia shows her mettle when she knows that she is about to be toast, but still stays on to save a little boy from a monster, The Candy Man. Meanwhile, she works her way to Liberty Island where the lab is between the two universes. She manages to get over for a few seconds but is pulled back by the evil secretary and his goons. But before doing so, she asks what seems like the impossible. She manages to set up a message to Peter, saying she is trapped. Peter is in bed with FauxLivia and is stunned as the episode ends. There can be no question now. But this sets up all kinds of messy results. Think of all that Peter has betrayed to "Olivia" about his activities. How everything they have been doing has been observed. How all those things she supposedly did to help them is under suspicion. Should be fun.

Decent script, super Olivia, well balanced episodic and heavy arcs, interesting character development, emotional scenes, welcome guest

An other child abduction driven story ? Indeed but when it comes to Fringe you can be sure it'll be a little weird. However my new reference in the genre is Dexter's Lost Boys so saying that my expectations were great is almost an euphemism. But as I root for Olivia and embraced the red side I could only enjoy the ride. First even if the script could have been more exciting it had enough twists to thrill from time to time. Second Anna Torv was in great shape and Olivia was as dynamic and smart as in the premiere. Third the episodic contents was well mixed with the parallel arc. Her actions influenced the opinion other characters had and in the end it should influence her fate. Fourth it was enlightening to learn more about Philip Broyles and consider the father behind Lance Reddick's wax figure. Seeing major characters in a different light is always interesting and layer their development, making things even more unpredictable. Fifth the scenes could have been more heartbreaking but a few of them were fueled with diverse emotions and the children well played their part. Last but not least one of my wish was granted and you should really enjoy the return of someone Olivia met during her journey. The ensemble cast is inspiring in general. What a great way to represent diversity and convince people to care about each other instead of fighting for nothing ! Still the show weaknesses were also part of The Abducted, like the lack of depth in the writing, but overall it was a relatively good episode. I wish it had been scarier or even more dramatic but Fringe is not The Dex-Files so for now let's appreciate the show for what it's. Moreover season 3 proved that their skills have matured so it can only improve and that's definitely a sweet thing. Want some candy ?
