Good overall - disappointing development of Alicia's character

A good episode overall. However, the writers' development of Alicia's character, when she learns of Will's followup voice mail, is condescending. In this scene Alicia is portrayed as an irrational, emotional woman, and not as focused and insightful as she usually is. Keep in mind all that the character has been through and has been challenged throughout the series, and how she almost always manages to maintain her composure and focus, nonetheless. She runs out of the review room, emotional almost to the point of tears. Alicia is very perceptive. I would have expected that she would have concluded, almost instantly, that the 2nd voicemail had been deleted, and by someone with something to gain. That would have led very quickly to Peter or Eli, who had access to her phone after she left the banquet. Further, the running out of the room all upset is so out of her normal character. Given the importance of her task, and that nothing could be done at the moment about the deleted email and/or Will, I would have expected her to resume the reviews, or for the show to cut to the next scene. Truly, a bit of gratuitous melodrama, that really plays on some very unfortunate stereotypes of women - the very antithesis of the show most of the time.

Episode 8: An overall good episode with many psychological matters of interest in it, centered on issues in and out of court alike, surrounding and developing plots & sub-plots moving the screenplay forward with some good acting in my opinion, cunning situations with an ending like a wet glacial towel onto Alicia's face.

What's really going on here. The lawyers tackle a case where an alderman is accused of taking bribes, which is certainly not new in Chcago politics. The problem is who he is linked with. He alternately goes from the extremist Muslim group to routine drug dealers.

Now, suddenly we're hearing that Lockhart(Christine Baranski) thinks that her partner,Josh Charles, is going to ditch her so she is planning to leave in a few weeks and start with someone else. Who will Alicia go with when this schism occurs?

Alicia is listening to tapes and is floored when she hears Eli's name mentioned with the alderman link and then her relationship with Charles is revealed on tape. It's pretty confusing and even Grandma Florrick shows up to show some bigotry regarding the Florrick's new girlfriend- a young black lady.

Chris Noth doesn't appear here and that's a shame. The story is completely not cohesive.
