I nearly died when I saw this the first time. Not only is the Shelbot a great bit, the smug, self satisfied look on Sheldon's face is worth the trip. This is cleverly done and creative. Sheldon wants to live forever but how would anyone be better off if it happened.

"The Cruciferous Vegetable Amplification" is another funny ep of "The Big Bang Theory"
tavm1 October 2011
In a nutshell about this ep of "The Big Bang Theory" from last season: Sheldon has calculated he won't live long enough for his being to be transferred to robotic form so instead of the usual pizza on Thursday, he tries broccoli sprouts. That almost gets him a trip to a hospital. He also tries jogging with Penny...which doesn't get him farther than a few steps before his sprouts experience bursts again! So he decides to become Shelbot-with his face on a robotic monitor and a Green Lantern shirt under it...Another funny episode with Jim Parsons making Sheldon's eccentricities quite appealingly hilarious despite his less-than-polite-demeanor. Oh, and once again, we get to hear Penny sing "Soft Kitty" to him in a unique way...

Sheldon's ideas are always pretty funny and watching him trying to stay safe so he can live longer to become a robot was pretty amusing. I loved the car ride he had with Sheldon or how he asked Raj to open the door for him. And of course wanting Penny to wait on him in the restaurant.
Best. Episode. Ever.

Four series in and it still feels like the show is finding its feet about what works and what doesn't.
I'm not sure later on in the shows run it would have felt the need to reduce itself to fart noises to get a laugh.
What would never change though was that Jim Parsons could be relied upon to carry episodes. The main joke here is Sheldon trying to avoid dying by existing on a video screen and through robot movement - that's it.
But it's played so well and is so well-written that it works, leading to some very funny laugh out loud moments.
It's still finding itself, but there's no doubting the quality of this show.
