The title of this episode jokingly suggests this is a third installment to the films Mannequin (1987) and Mannequin: On the Move (1991). Both films feature a mannequin that comes to life, although, unlike the theme of this series, the films are actually romantic comedies. Further evidence that the episode refers to the Mannequin movies occurs when Dean says to a mannequin, "I don't like how Kim Cattrall is looking at me". Kim Cattrall was the mannequin who came to life in the 1987 movie.
When Sam suggests that Dean accept Lisa's calls, Dean replies, "Thank you, Dr. Laura, that's very insightful but hey look at that, our time's up." Dr. Laura Schlessinger is a popular relationship radio talk show host.
Dean arrives to find Lisa getting ready for a date and says, "We've been Parent Trapped." He is referring to the Disney movies The Parent Trap (1961 and 1998) about twin girls -- raised separately by divorced parents -- that plan to trick their parents into reconciling.
When Dean is assessing Sam's condition after he's passed out, he says "...and none of this it's just a flesh wound crap." This is a paraphrase of Black Knight's famous line from Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975).
The fictional junior college in this episode is named after the Great Falls on the Passaic River in Paterson, NJ, where the episode takes place. Much of the episode is centered on a factory in Paterson. Paterson was America's first planned industrial city, using water from the Great Falls to power the mills that manufactured textiles (earning Paterson the nickname Silk City) and other products.
