Young Boba Fett
A_Kind_Of_CineMagic6 August 2020
Fans get a cool return for young Boba Fett who we met in Attack of the Clones. Famously he grows up to be the supercool bounty hunter in the original trilogy but here we see him starting out in his bounty hunting ways as a kid and trying to enact revenge against Mace Windu for killing his father.

It is a great idea and a great episode.

My rating: 9/10.

Boba Fett

This was a really nice episode a bit slower but gets more intense towards the end. A really interesting idea for an episode that is well executed.

Death Trap

And Boba Fett returns in big fashion. I always found George Lucas' use of the character to be beneath his legacy in the prequels, but like so many other aspects of those films, this show takes it and makes it better. The depiction of Boba Fett in this episode is still that of a young and insecure boy, but at the same time, someone who is growing up to become a man. The writing of this episode was great, and it was exciting to see the aftermath of what would have been a rather traumatic experience for Boba in "Attack of the Clones." It works well on its own, but it works even better in the context of the next two episode, which makes for a very compelling arc and a compelling redemption of a sorta dull character in the second prequel film.

Great movie
cfisler-227 April 2010
This episode of the Clone Wars television series deserves a great rating because it has world famous Wilhelm scream in it. The Wilhem scream is heard after the Republic attack cruiser's core was destroyed and When two of the clone trooper was sucked out into space. There are Wilhelm screams in the Star Wars Episodes IV,V,VI,and the prequels Star Wars Episodes I,II, and III. It is also in Chapters 4, 12,17, and 24 of Star Wars Clone Wars and during the Battle of Christophsis and battle of Teth in Star Wars the Clone Wars (movie). I am sure there will be more Wilhelm screams in future Star Wars episodes. It is becoming a very common sound effect and is being used in many of the non Star Wars new releases.

Plot keywords: Science Fiction, Action Adventure , Wilhelm Scream

Guess Who's Back?

Warning: Spoilers
This one starts very promisingly: Anakin and Mace take on board their Rebublic cruiser a frigate carrying young clone soldiers. But one of them, under the alias "Lucky", is actually Boba Fett, seeking to revenge his father's death at the nasty end of Mace's lightsaber. This is already a welcome change - not only is it an idea that *isn't* a variation on the typical battle/rescue plot, but it also brings some continuity to the series and picks up a loose end from Episode II that was not addressed in Episode III.

Of course, not only is there the problem that we know Boba *can't* succeed because Mace eventually dies in Episode III, but also that nothing serious can't happen to Boba, because he will be in Episodes V and VI. This somewhat flattens the tension. So, in an attempt to get some tension out of the situation, the writers decide that Boba's failed attempt to blow Mace to bits accidentally cripples the ship's navigation and leaves them hanging in space. Why a bomb in living quarters could possibly cause this kind of damage is beyond me - but hey, the writers of this series have the tendency to underestimate the intelligence of their audience (or overestimate their own intelligence).

On the plus side, Boba has an outside ally with the codename "Watcher", a female by the sound of her voice. It surely has to be someone who's worth an identity reveal scene, right? But the Star Wars universe is not exactly ripe with established female antagonists, especially around the time period of the Clone Wars... Anyway, Watcher orders Boba to blow the reactor core - a promising concept...

There are more head-scratchers: Anakin decides to "form an unbroken line of troopers" who will search the ship from bow to stern to find the assassin. Well done, you idiot! While your dumb-ass *line* is searching, say, Deck 3, the assassin can slip past your troopers by simply walking on any other deck. As far as I can see, the ship is quite tall, so there are many decks. Try forming a vertical search *grid* next time, moron! Then the clone trooper guarding the reactor core gives Boba his blaster. Like any trained soldier would give his weapon to a person he doesn't know at the time when the identity of the assassin is not confirmed! Also, why *is* the reactor core so vulnerable to sabotage? Again, those stupid Star Wars universe engineers...

Despite these problems, the final reveal brings much joy to those of us who are the Children of Star Wars, ie. those who were children/teens when the Original Trilogy was released. There are three boxes ticked for pleasing the long-time Star Wars fans, and that shows that this series is no more just for the Children of the Prequels. A very big plus indeed. Still, because of its flaws, "Death Trap" falls just short of greatness. My vote is 7/10.

Good episode

This episode was good in almost all his aspects. I just wish the voice acting for the cadets was better. I can suspend my disbelief in regards to their adult voice because they're clones but the voice performance was poor nonetheless. It was nice seeing Boba in action though! I enjoyed it overall.
