The title of this episode, "Keith Moon Is Vomiting In His Grave", refers to the manic, late drummer of The Who. Keith Moon is recognized as the greatest rock drummer of all time. Moon died of a drug overdose on September 7, 1978, at the age of 32. Moon was also the inspiration for 'Animal', in "The Muppet Show".
Charlie's line, "banging the drummer's mom slowly", is a reference to the film "Bang The Drum Slowly" (1973), which was based on the 1956 novel by Mark Harris.
