Best episode yet!

Warning: Spoilers
After watching 'Haunted' and seeing the ratings fall after the CW toys with this show like a chew toy, you'd assume that the Vampire Diaries has given all it has to offer.

But the writers never fail to surprise you with this show! This episode sees what you'd expect of a vampire show - a hell of a lot of staking, blood and evil.

Stefan and Elena are a couple for the times, but fans will be surprised at his transition. The once gentle, loving vampire has taken a desperate turn to become an addicted vampire, and one sees the real murderous side of him. To top it off, there's a little chemistry between Damon and Elena as they attempt to get Stefan back, who's been tortured by the vampires who seek revenge for over a hundred years being stuck underground.

Pearl and Anna: I really hope these two stick around. You'd think they'd be as happy as the Brady bunch, but Anna's been alone for a while now, meaning she's breaking out of the good daughter role, which angers her mother. It'll be interesting to see if they can regain what was once theirs, especially since Jeremy and Anna take a step deeper into their relationship. Of course, it might turn evil now that Anna's seen Jeremy's true intentions.

Which brings us to him. Normally you'd just see this quiet loner boy in the background, but now he wants to be a vampire: everything his ancestors fought against. He's a little whiny and desperate in this episode, but it really brought out everything he's been repressing since Vicki's death.

I mentioned Haunted was one of the best episodes of the season, because of Vicki's death. You'd think they'd never bring her up again, but they do when Caroline discovers her body. This brings a tremendous amount of impact on Mystic Falls, and kudos to the writers for bringing this back. Now you'll just have to wait and see they hysteria this will cause.

Matt and Caroline need a mention. BORING! Although, you see some tension between him and Elena (right in front of Caroline!) at the end. And Kelly's failed casserole attempt won't be happening again, you know since her daughter's been found dead.

Overall, this is the best episode of the season and hopefully the ratings will reflect this. So many twists, turns, staking and blood, which is more than you could ever expect. I still find Stefan's addiction to human blood and him bringing out his violent side to be the best part of the episode. MUST WATCH!

Great Episode

Frederick brings a clan of vampires from the tomb to kidnap and torture Stefan in Ms. Gibbons' farmhouse. Damon sees his brother inside the house but he cannot enter since Frederick has compelled Ms. Gibbons to not invite him. Damon and Elena convince Alaric to help them to rescue Stefan. Meanwhile Caroline gets stuck in the mud and finds the corpse of Vicky in the woods. Jeremy is not able to explain to Anna why he wants to be turned into a vampire.

"Let the Right One In" is a great episode, full of action and a good plot point with the discovery of the body of Vicky. I miss Bonnie, one of the most attractive characters of this series. On the other side, Jeremy, Kelly, Matt and Caroline are boring. My vote is eight.

Give my regards to the squirrels...

Warning: Spoilers
Stormy stormy night. I love that this show goes for classic horror movie atmosphere from time to time. If it's not copious amounts of fog, then it's dark stormy nights. Anna loves storms? No, Jeremy, it's not "a vampire thing", it's just a regular weird human thing. Heh, Dracula was a "complete wuss". Loved the way Anna said he was "very smelly" (due to his non-showering).

Nice to know that Elena has accepted the fact that Damon's a "self-serving psychopath with no redeeming qualities". I liked hers and Stefan's "He just makes me so cranky!"/"Oh, I know, he makes everybody cranky." exchange (in regards to Damon), though I wasn't too fond of Stefan saying Elena was going to do exactly what she *didn't* want to do (ie.sit at the Salvatores' place and do nothing).

Damon's "I left two litres of soccer mum in the fridge." and then his line about the squirrels to Stefan were both amusing. Interesting that, for a vampire to get back his strength, he goes running in the woods in the rain...in a hoodie. Too bad he got staked (though, lucky for him, not fatally) by bad vamp & co. Damon's "You're not gonna like what I'm thinking." line to Elena was really...off. It just sounded bad. Though I did like his threat of "Open this door or I swear to God I'll bust through and rip your head off!", I could take or leave his "You are dead!" line to bad vamp. I mean, I appreciated the fact that Damon hated to see Stefan suffering, but that threat was rather lame (for Damon anyway). At least it's clear that he really *does* care about his brother (no one gets to torture Stefan but him). I really enjoyed Damon's scene with Elena in the rain.

Vervain in the eyeballs? Nasty! Stefan was certainly getting his Jack Bauer on (with the shirtless torture).

I liked Damon's line to Alaric ("Well, don't you look...alive.") and the tension in the scene.

Enjoyed Anna explaining to dim Jeremy the reasons why vampires turn people into vampires and her not wanting to give him a "Pity turn". Oh no...the return of jerky Tyler. Things had been so pleasant without him. I was hoping he would just stay gone. No such luck, apparently. What purpose does he serve exactly? I hated how condescending Damon was towards Elena in the scene where Alaric showed off his weapons to them (that sounds dirty). His "You can drive the getaway car." to Elena was especially infuriating and his "I know. I get it. I understand." line was a little redundant, wasn't it? Alaric did a good acting job as the guy whose car broke down and he needed to make a phone call. Damon was his typical murderous self when he killed the home owner of the house so he could gain entry. It's almost unsurprising now, when he kills some innocent without a second thought.

Although it was risky for Elena to do what she did, at the same time, I appreciate that she didn't want to just sit in the car like everyone wanted her too. She's capable, and I'm glad she played a real/proper part in rescuing Stefan. I liked Damon's fight with the vampires (he can certainly take on a few at a time).

I was VERY happy to see Elena stab bad vamp (especially after what he'd done to Stefan). That was a pretty awesome scene, where Elena allowed Stefan to feed on her. Good on Alaric for knowing Damon had been lying to him (about helping him find his wife). I was glad to see bad vamp finally bite the dust. Felt sorry for Elena AND Stefan when he was in a frenzy and she saw how he could lose control (even for just a moment). Nina and Paul were both really excellent with their reactions in this scene and were equally awesome in the following one.

FINALLY everybody found out about dead Vicki! Hallelujah! (Though WHY did the Salvatores dump her body in the woods and not just simply burn it so no evidence could be found? Not too bright). Really good reactions from Matt, Matt's mum and Elena (and I don't fault Matt for wanting to seek comfort from his childhood friend - Elena - when he found out about Vicki. Sucks for Caroline to see him hugging Elena for comfort instead of her...but there you go). I was glad Alaric punched Damon when he tried to be all chummy with him at the bar. As I've said before, Damon deserves everything he gets (and more!).

Felt sorry for Anna at the end there, when she figured out the only reason Jeremy wanted to be a vamp was so he could be with Vicki. I'm sure she'll get all vengeful on his ass.

And what a great "Oh, crap!" ending to the episode. Stefan's addicted to human blood now? Damon's expression said it all. Should be interesting to see where it goes. This was another really solid episode. I just wish we'd gotten more Melinda Clarke.

Yeah, I'm Done

Warning: Spoilers
The Vampire Diaries plays like a bad soap opera. It does have some good mystery angles to play with, but ultimately, it wasn't enough to keep me vested.

The writing is sub-par at best, as this episode is a testament, with dialogue that leaves a lot to be desired, and weak plot elements that feel contrived and forced.

Stefan takes a walk in the woods. Is everyone on this show stupid? He knows he's being hunted by Fredrick and his pack, and he decides to go wandering off.

Caroline takes a drive through the woods. Why? Who knows. It's another forced plot element to contrive her finding Vicki. Amateur screenwriters continue.

Elena insists on helping to rescue Stefan. Yeah, as if nobody saw that coming. She shows little concern at all when Stefan is near-death. Great "acting" by Dobrev. Of course, another contrived plot element to have Stefan gain his strength by feeding on Elena.

The vampires, overall, are not very well written characters. The only one who shows even a hint of intrigue is Damon, but his song and dance about Katherine borders on the tedious.

There is little-to-no connection between any of the kids and the adults. It's dysfuntion at its most pathetic. Mystic Falls should be burned to the ground and left for dead. Much like this show should have been. Proof that American television has been in a steep decline for a long time.

Stefan Is Kidnapped

Warning: Spoilers
I laughed so hard when Alaric Saltzman pretended to be a passerby looking for a phone and shivering. Lol.

Damon, Elena and Saltzman collaborate to get Stefan back to safety. In the end, Frederick goes after Elena and Stefan who are going back to their car. Elena lets Stefan drink her blood and he turns monstrous, stabbing Frederick repeatedly despite him being dead already.

We see at the end that Damon comes into the room and sees the empty bags of blood. Stefan is in a corner drinking blood.
