The lingual bone is more commonly known as the hyoid bone. It has the distinction of being the only bone in the human body that does not connect with another bone. It is interesting that it is referred to as the lingual bone in this episode as pretty much every other episode in the L&O series refers to it as the hyoid bone.
Because of the limited range of a bow, and because of the difficulty of hitting a moving target with an arrow bow hunters typically don't stalk a deer. They set up a blind or a tree stand and wait for the deer to come to them.
