Director Sai Rajesh presents "Baby," a poignant yet relatable tale that mirrors real-life experiences, making it a worthwhile watch. However, the movie falters in its second half, hampering its overall impact. Nonetheless, it still holds potential for a one-time viewing.

Sai Rajesh weaves a heartrending narrative that tugs at the heartstrings while remaining relevant to contemporary audiences. The first half captivates with its relatable and entertaining content, building up to a captivating interval. Unfortunately, the second half suffers from erratic pacing, unnecessarily dragging certain scenes. Viraj Ashwin's character arc feels underdeveloped and abruptly abandoned, lacking proper closure. The climax, although emotionally powerful, may not resonate universally, contrasting with the film's initial entertainment value. Moreover, the director's handling of the second half appears disjointed and needlessly prolonged.

Vijai Bulganin's exceptional background score enhances the storytelling, adding depth and enjoyment to specific sequences. The cinematography impresses, and the production values are high, although the editing could have improved, particularly in terms of pacing during the second half.

Anand Deverakonda exhibits significant growth as an actor, skillfully portraying the nuanced emotions of his character. He excels in emotional scenes, evoking genuine empathy. Vaishnavi Chaitanya delivers a spectacular performance, fully immersing herself in her character and flawlessly depicting her various emotions and transformations. Her portrayal exhibits commendable depth. In a central role, she shines brightly, leaving no room for disappointment. Viraj Ashwin delivers a solid performance, although he could have delved deeper into emotional scenes. While the supporting cast performs well, Naga Babu and Viva Harsha's potential feels underutilized.

Depressing and interesting
m-ramanan16 September 2023
RATED 8/10 Language: Telugu Media Partner: Aha RECOMMENDED.

Even though the story and ending is bit depressing one, the characterisation, cast and screenplay make you sit tight throughout this presentation.

I liked the authenticity of characters and skillful entertaining presentation. Definitely this will not be everyone's cup of tea. Either you love this one or just hate it. The step by step transformation of Vaishnavi is the real core and it was conveyed completely.

The presentation was so natural till the climax, the climax portion was bit abrupt and aimed to add more depression note. Lot of characters are hanging without any conclusion but the movie ended.

A decent film with real life characters
jpzvhdkmsg14 July 2023
My cousin being a financier heard a lot of auto guy stories I feel like director did good job representing the feelings and mindset of anand.

Seeing many trolls and feminists getting hurt by the movie, I think the director doesn't need to explain or justify any of the scenes. All the characters are grey and we will feel some empathy to each one of them.

Even the heroine's mother and father are flawed in a way. Bad choices and bad friends will surely effect our life it was well portrayed and laid out in the film. Calling her the L word might offend some people but we have to remember that anand is a 10th fail auto driver and thats how he will be in real life. Anands mother dying is very emotional and the way he was fed up with his choices was well written and performed.

Not a cult classic but a good watch.

Director should stick to Comedy movies
ibob-6393127 August 2023
First of all not a great movie, its so cringe. Story is not new, 8 out of 10 movies in telugu film industry are just love stories shuffling, industry should come of this routine boring love stories and think out of the box and creativity. Creating a love story by Rearranging existing love stories is not a great move. This movie from the beginning to the end is so boring and the hype that was created just looks like a PR stunt and only nibba nibbis like this movie as it has commercial and hot elements. The only good thing about this movie is the hope that boys dont fall in love again in their unmatured age. Hero acting is good and improved compare to older films.

"I love to hate you. I hate to love you."
chand-suhas14 September 2023
Anand and Vaishnavi are school days lovers, basically first love to each other. He fails 10th and is a full time auto driver while Vaishnavi goes ahead to college to complete her graduation. Entering into a new world, she gets obviously seduced by it while she struggles to hold onto her real world. Series of wrong decisions lead her to get involved with Viraj, the upper class rich classmate. How these three flawed characters suffer in the name of love due to their own immature decisions forms rest of the story.

I finally chose to watch Baby, after insta reels had completely ruined the film for me in it's release week, prompting me to judge it negatively and even skip it in the theater. However, I was wrong as the initial 30mins itself showcased there was more to these characters and writing would play the major role, supported with good music. I was stunned by how the scene structure was, the way it builds on while exploring these characters flaws. Even the way the individuals behave, has a valid justification through their personalities and the world they belong to. While Anand is crude and closed minded, his outburst isn't due to him being wrong but it's the situation the gets the worst out of him. The way Vaishnavi gives it back to him was clapworthy and then there's Viraj, to turn her world around.

It is these characters that drive this film. Sure, I wish Viraj's character had more depth compared to other two. It's an out and out Vaishnavi's film where Anand's love for her is firmly established. Viraj's love for her is however is limited to songs and in the attempt to present these characters neither completely wrong, somewhere Viraj's characters gets left behind. This happens especially in that 30 days dating episode. Post that the film picks up again leading to a superb confrontation scene. The pre climax and climax, felt right out of a Tamil film and the director simply didn't hold back at all. Honestly, the beauty lies in the characterization Vaishali gets and how well she could carry that. Viraj's character shines with that one dialogue during the confrontation scene whereas Anand gets to own his scenes in final act.

The screenplay isn't flawless and it suffers in the second half as it even drags. The cringe dialogues being called out within the film itself was in a way fun. Despite the very first scene reveals the final outcome, the foreshadowing of the characters future in the first half is what I truly enjoyed. Second half lacked those moments as both the male characters get reduced to cribbing lovers while Vaishanvi gets to do the heavy lifting till the confrontation scene. At nearly 3hrs, it does overstay, the supporting characters don't offer much though Naga Babu gets one good scene in the end. Overall, Baby is indeed a good film and until I watched it today, even I was not being positive towards it.

P. S. Deciding to skip the film in theater could be my wrong decision but I wish filmmakers take a serious note on over enthusiastic viewers sharing clips of the film on insta reels. In the case of Baby, it was almost like watching an entire film via those random reels that showed without even searching for it. Hopefully, this changes in the future.

A nice movie
ramakrishna-kothapeta26 August 2023
I am surprised to see the bad reviews about this movie. I am not sure what these guys are expecting. It is brilliant movie and every character performed like acting pro's. Impressed with the young talent. Special kudo's to the director for making such a nice movie. Unfortunately, I watched the movie in OTT but deserved to be watched on big screen. The movie fits for all the generations. The entire team deserves a standing ovation they should have not spend a single pie for the promotions since this movie doesn't need one but unfortunately, they spend too much on the promotions which might have made people think it's one of the movies where there is not content. Overall, I really liked the movie and current generation has to watch this movie.

Realistic movie. This is the reality of the world.
karthikkumaravel-525671 September 2023
This movie speaks plain truth of reality, lives and lies of a girl in a relationship and her loyalty. Whatever a guy does, a girl's mind will be wavering. They keep going for next best thing in life. For argument sake you can say they're selfish but they're very calculative. Until stress management or damage control situation comes. That's what this movie talks about.

A middle class girl falls in love with a 10th fail auto driver. Little did she know that she's going to meet better attractive and handsome rich guys which would change her life decisions.

The screenplay is very slow and is targeted for youngsters. They may like it but still it's tiring.

This movie is close to reality because it happened to me. It happened to many of my friends so i can relate. The intermission scene was excellent. Vaishnavi understood the character and acted well throughout the movie.

I think the movie should have went like she made an alternate decision and lived strong with it. I don't know why the guilty drama, suicide blah blah.

Among the movies which portray they're innocent, they're exploited, they've been cheated this movie talks the harsh reality. How much ever they cheat, they lie, even in their disastrous phase of life, girls' life always keep moving forward and better. A dialog from jiivi movie - ponungaloda vazhkai adutha adutha thalatha nokki poite irukum. Nee nambunalum nambala nalum athan unmai.

Worth the watch if you can manage the slow pace.

I walked out of theatre, for the very first time
ansahith24 July 2023
I have a threshold for movies but this movie is just non-sense with lazy writing.

This movie is a disaster solely because not enough focus was put into plot writing. The script has multiple loop holes and a typical and expected love-failure plot.

My 1 stars is for the first half - which was decent but second half was just such a downer.

Unbelievable movie!

I wish I'd watched Aadipurush 2nd time instead of this blunder.

I went with 7 people to theatre and we were just looking at each others' faces the whole 2nd half.

Just when we thought it was becoming slow and bad, the director found ways to make it even more slower and worser.

Then a moment came where we decided to walk out and save ourselves some time. Not too surprisingly the people infront of us walked out even before we did.

That tells a lot about this movie.

And don't believe the spam ratings here.

2000+ votes - ~1000 are 1 star and ~1000 are 10 stars.

Definitely not a 10 star movie. So you ask yourself before watching.

New age talented tollywood actors on a hunting spree...
PANDIAN12062115 September 2023
Witha given budget of just 10 crores this flick had managed to collect 90 crores making it a cult classic hit of the year... With an Amazing writing that explores the flaws and love of coming of age and the morality of how people and place decide of what we become is clearly persented with a seamless screenplay by the matured director Sai Rajesh... The lead characters has outnumbered expectations without which this flick would have achieved such a monstrous success... especially vaishnavi has places to go and will be a star in future ... Overall if u have an appetite for the tragic love story this flick is sure shot bonanza for those...

Extended version of TikTok
AgentDemiGod27 July 2023
Do you remember the times when you used to see cheap, 2 Rs/- TikToks where the guy after some love fiasco, spits water/pan in the end - well, this movie is just an extended version of such "chapri" TikToks. Such a pathetic movie, bad acting and dragging screenplay. Breakup stories sell well in the market - but this movie, concept, screenplay is so outdated and lazy. There is no creativity, nothing intriguing and very very bland. Its high time, movies should be made focusing on enhancing art and not just enhancing the box office profits. It was a misfortune watching this movie and I am still trying to heal myself.

Feels like deja Vu
moulyrdy24 August 2023
The story is not new. It feels like something that happens now and then. Might feel like most of the moments are related with individuals life's. The take and screenplay is nice. But a bit of lag is felt. Ending is sad, but I kind of feel the director is trying to keep is realistic. It's a must watch movie to increase the detachments from girls as well as toxic friends. The movie can teach you how to be independent by not believing every crap your partner tells.story is so realistic. Like the comment if you feel you went through these situations or may have heard of any near stories. It's a nice one time watch movie for sure.

Great story telling
kiran-2399815 July 2023
I liked the movie, the story and actors performance is extraordinary. Sai Rajesh came up with great story line after color photo. Anand and Vaishnavi's performance in climax makes you cry in the theatre, I felt like the movie takes you back to the 80's movie experience like Chiranjeevi's 'Aaradhana' a pure love still exists in the society. Other actors acted well within their limits. There is a dialogue 'what is the lesson of my story' the director perfectly ended the movie with good lesson to be learned for the teenagers. Yes, 'the first love always hidden under the layers of heart. All the best Sai Rajesh.

Don't go with reviews, trust me it's a really bad movie
supriyabandela21 July 2023
I recently watched the movie and personally found it to be quite boring. The plot seemed to drag on, and the characters didn't resonate with me. However, I understand that everyone's taste in movies is different, so it might still appeal to others who enjoy a slower pace. The movie seemed to focus quite a lot on romantic relationships and implied themes of sleeping with someone, which I don't think is appropriate for the young audience it's intended for. I believe there's an opportunity to improve the storyline. Only Anand Devarakonda character is better among all the characters. Additionally, I had some concerns about the portrayal of the girl character in the movie. The character's behavior and choices were not the best role model for young viewers.

Most relevant movie now a days
nagarjunayenamandra15 July 2023
Watched baby in theatre in hyderabad amidst whistles, shouting, funny comments, vulgar comments, Let us whole heartedly congratulate team for their honest effort, actors sincere contribution, heroine stands out. Every character is flawed and show no mask to cover their charecter. Eventhough heavy without jokes, this movie makes u think , especially climax, beautiful depiction of downtown girl, who sees a different world once she enters college, unable to take proper decision and falls prey to rich, booze, drugs, false friends. Impractical hero , rich brat second hero.sincere heroins friend, must see.👍

If not for great music and decent first half...
JakDexxter18 July 2023
Firstly, there is no need to discuss if this a great movie, because, its a no-brainer that this is a stupid movie.

The only reason I gave it a shot is because of it's great ilayaraja-sque music. The first half is decent, at least, I did not think to walk out.

The real torture starts after the intermission. Almost all the scenes in the second half are logic less. The director must have gotten these cringe scenes first in his mind and then he tried to weave the second half around it. Honestly, if you search for Telugu s*x stories on google, you could find even better stories with proper logic. No one in this movie knows what they are doing and why they are doing.

All said and done, if you want to laugh at this movie, you can give it a shot.

So beautifully created.
rudrakaal24 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Its totally relative to me man from buy the phones to saare and the End of climax love the way it present all of it. I cried a lot when Anand friend showed him the Vaishnavi reality because I have also felt the same situation, when I know how my ones, how to react and what to do. I watched it with subtitles and I completely agreed that Anand's final climax was decided not to be with Vaishnavi because I too faced the same situation. Whenever you see your loved one with others then after that he comes to you to apologize that is okay but you cannot accept it, the reason is always in your mind what they did...

Realistic and thought provoking
sbattula-8456026 August 2023
Too realistic and relatable, I can see why it can be difficult to handle for some people. Each character was aptly flawed, as we humans are in reality. Humans aren't all good or all bad and the all forgiving and sacrificing "hero" is an illusion. Each main character had his/her own strengths that they grow from and weaknesses that become their downfall. It makes the viewer internally struggle whether to sympathize or criticize them. And instead of a cliched ending, each character moves on in their own way, as so happens in real life. Movie definitely has its flaws but appreciate the efforts with respect to details like metaphors to reality, even keeping their real life names, and also not giving in to the trends of unnecessary item songs and detached jokes.

Not a good message at all
satyatsatyat9 September 2023
The movie shows women in bad light and is a bad influence on youngsters. It shows as if there is no life without love which isn't true. It shows romance at school going age when society is already struggling with rise of romance is school going kids, and related suicides etc. This is what happens when irresponsible and immature directors make movies. The characterization of characters in the movie is bad, except for Anand Devarakonda's. Vaishnavi Chaitanya's role is really bad. Overall, very disappointed by the movie. A must avoid. And something you can't watch with family. Bad influence. Avoid.

Emotional and realistic love story
hemanthg-268723 September 2023
Now a days many youth knowingly or unknowingly fall in love and commit mistakes later without knowing the values of love. This movie clearly stated the youth mindset. (Not implies to all but some people).

Now a days innocent girls are trapped into friendship in the beginning and later its converted in love unknowingly and ends in breakup.

This movie clearly shown the present scenario regarding the people who are trapped unknowingly and fighting in the end by pointing out the mistakes.

People can feel the pain in the story who had personal experience. But this is not the end life goes on. Dont stop if you are love failure. There is always happy life ahead for everyone.

Every second is time waste
princessoni24 August 2023
Am un happy there is no 0 star. It gave headache . It is the worst movie I have ever seen. Utter nonsense. So words to describe the nonsense. How people will encourage this kind of nonsense. Director doesn't know what he really wants to tell.

Why he didn't spend good time on making the characters clear. Actress was unnecessarily created gave too much negative side. Most of the time movie was like a 10 rupee movie. Common sense was really missing in the movie. I watched for 3 hours, serials in Telugu channels are far better.

If directors and producers doesn't have have any work and just wants to pollutte people mind, then why we are encouraging them?
