- A sick and elderly woman is seen being bathed by a nurse. You can briefly see the woman's breasts.
- A man helps his sick wife exercise; bare thighs are seen.
- A woman tells her father that when she was little, she could hear her father and mother making love.

- An elderly woman takes a few falls in her time of illness, and although we never actually see her fall, we do see her on the floor once or twice, trying to recover. Her husband tries to help her walk again; these scenes are slow and painful to watch, as it is very clear to see how much pain it causes them both.
- In an impulsive moment of frustration, a man slaps his elderly and sickly wife.

- A man smokes a cigarette twice very briefly, and we see bottles and glasses of wine at a few points; no one is ever inebriated.
Frightening & Intense Scenes

- An ill, elderly woman's moments of senseless, yet eerie moaning are hard to watch.
- A main character has a nightmare where a man comes up from behind him in the dark and grabs him.
- Amour is extremely emotional and hard to watch at times. An elderly main character is, throughout the film, extremely and increasingly sick and her near-vegitative state causes her to helplessly moan; she is bed-ridden and cannot function, causing a nurse and her husband to help her. Very depressing discussions regarding assisted suicide and death are prominent throughout the film.

Violence & Gore
- A man suffocates his bed-ridden wife with a pillow.
- A man eventually ends up killing his elderly and sickly wife by suffocating her with a pillow, and this scene goes on for at least 30 seconds. The action is, as brash as it seems, an act of love as the man is attempting to put his wife out of misery in line with her wishes. The outline of her torso and legs are seen thrashing and we see her dead body several (implied) weeks afterwards, old and decayed slightly.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
- The main character's death is the most intense scene. After a one-sided discussion between the husband and wife, the husband takes a pillow and suffocates her; her torso and legs are seen thrashing under bed sheets during a 30-second struggle. The motive behind the man's action is to put his wife out of her ill misery, in line with her wishes to die.
