The conclusion of last week's episode "The Last Drive-In" is one of the best two-part installment that we have seen of this enjoyable program. The fact that two different teams of writers/directors worked on each show tells a lot about the creative minds behind the production. This chapter was directed by John Showalter and written by Christopher Silber, who is part of the team involved with the series.

The last part of the previous episode revealed how Lily and Diane Yates discover Bill Shepard's hiding place in the woods. Shepard, a man with a passion for hunting and shooting, is instrumental for his son Paul's natural inclination to handle fire arms. Diane Yates, the FBI agent has a personal claim to the way she has taken upon herself solving the mystery that had escaped the authorities for so many years. Her superior at the FBI has come to tell her she is being suspended, but she is able to talk her way into finishing the investigation of the murders, supposedly committed by Bill Shepard.

The investigators zero in Bill Shepard's son Paul. They know little about him and they deem is worth following his trail. Paul had a video store that was not making any money. He needed to get loans from the only family he knew, the Gleasons, who took Paul in when his father disappear, in order to get the fertility treatments for his wife, Claire. Unfortunately, Tom Gleason does not come through. They also are able to contact Paul's wife. She had wanted to give Paul a son more than anything in life, but the cost of such luxury proves to strain their marriage.

It would take a couple of more senseless killings before the detectives are able to put together the puzzle and track down the assassin that has a personal agenda in eliminating people that have done something wrong as far as this criminal is concerned. Not wanting to give anything away for the enjoyment of other viewers, we end by recommending this two-part series in reruns as it is worth watching.

We enjoyed Susanna Thompson in her take of the FBI agent. This episode reveals why she has been relentless in pursuing the criminal behind all the murders. JB Blank does a good job as well as Paul. The guest cast is excellent, as well as the regulars; all shine here under Mr. Showalter's direction.
