Fetch this! It's that time again. Time for the return of Doctor Gash to the screening room to host Dread Central's presentation of American Maniacs on Constellation.tv on Friday, April 20th at 10 Pm Et/7 Pm Pt.
American Maniacs was written by Trent Haaga, who also penned horror favorites Deadgirl and Chop. The film was directed by Cm Downs and stars Ashlynn Yennie of The Human Centipede series. It's the most recent film in the Doctor Gash hosted Dread Central film series on Constellation.tv.
Past screenings in the series have included the thriller Absentia and the documentary Cropsey, but this time we're going for the throat with this brutal number. Certainly not for the faint of heart, if you have any doubts as to whether or not you can handle this film, you probably can't.
To participate in the event, just head over to Constellation.tv and set up a free account.

With American Maniacs hitting VOD on Netflix, YouTube, iTunes and more on April 24 via Phase 4 Films, star Ashlynn Yennie and filmmaker Cm Downs chatted with us regarding the gritty independent film and provided some new photos as well as an exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette.
Written by Trent Haaga (Deadgirl) and directed by Downs, American Maniacs (originally titled Fetch) revolves around “a small Kansas town, where country life is anything but simple or safe (and where) the inhabitants are a volatile mix of hostile predators, violent ex-cons, meth-head strippers, perverted cops, and psychopathic murderers who raise flesh-eating dogs,” according to the official synopsis. In addition to Yennie, the film stars Shawn G. Smith (30 Days of Night: Blood Trails), Kurt Hanover and Jason Curtis Miller, among others.

There are few things in life that I hate more than really shitty and lazy movies. But perhaps more aggravating than a really shitty movie is trying to figure out how on earth these really shitty movies get funded and distributed. I don't get it! Did someone give Satan a blow job? Are people working the streets? Why doesn't the world make sense anymore? In case you are wondering, yes American Maniacs is a really shitty film.
In a small town in Kansas, six members of an evangelical Christian group are kidnapped by a psychotic group of ex-cons, perverted cops and murderers. Held hostage for the sadistic pleasure of their tormentors, the victims slowly begin to realize that outside help will not be back to save them from their twisted tormentors and there's no hope of survival.

*full disclosure: a screener of this film was provided by director C. M. Downs.
**here be major spoilers.
Director: C. M. Downs.
Writer: Trent Haaga.
Cast: Aaron Champion, Amanda Culbertson, Ashlynn Yennie, Jason Curtis Miller, and John Redmond.
American Maniacs was previously titled Fetch and this film has had a recent release through Phase 4 Films on Video-on-demand (Comcast, Insight). This title was completed in 2010 and this is C. M. Downs first feature as director. From a script by Trent Haaga (Killjoy 3), American Maniacs blends all kinds of messed up characters together in what is essentially a heist or robbery thriller. However, the people eating dogs add in much horror while all the double-dealing creates some drama. Overall, this is "a dark film" as described by director C. M. Downs and this means that there is no light at the end of this dark cinematic tunnel.

The Human Centipede 2 is now available to the mass market. IFC Films has made the controversial ‘show all’ gross out fest available on iTunes, SundanceNow, and Digital Download. Perfect for the Halloween weekend if you’re ready for Martin and his sick ways, which are 100% medically inaccurate. The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) aka The Human Millipede is written and directed by Tom Six (The Human Centipede (First Sequence) and stars Laurence R. Harvey, Ashlynn Yennie (Fetch) and Dominic Borrelli (Hogfather), Vivien Bridson, Lee Harris, Peter Charlton, and Bill Hutchens.

Late last night we received a brand new The Human Centipede 2 opening day poster. The movie is in theaters today October 7, 2011 in a limited theatrical release nationwide. (Check the theater listing below). The opening day poster for The Human Centipede 2 is a bit sick and more fitting for the movie in my opinion. I would have never imagined a centipede coming out of that part of the body. You can see the original poster at the end of this article. Here comes another sick and twisted human centipede. IFC Midnight released the poster for the upcoming horror sequel “The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence)” in advance of the screenings at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. The poster was revealed on Slash Film movie blog web site. Here is the film synopsis: Martin is a mentally disturbed loner who lives with his mother in a bleak housing project. He works the night shift as a security guard in an equally grim and foreboding underground parking complex. To escape his dreary existence, Martin loses himself in the fantasy world of the cult horror film “The Human Centipede (First Sequence),” fetishizing the meticulous surgical skills of the gifted Dr. Heiter, whose knowledge of the human gastrointestinal system inspires Martin to attempt the unthinkable. One thing that can really make or break a horror film is the choice of music for its soundtrack, and no one is more aware of that than Fetch producer Theodore Loscalzo, who dropped us a line with a little behind-the-scenes info on the scoring process for the film along with a few clips of the types of music we can expect to hear in the finished product.
"One of the things that makes Fetch special is the music that we have been so fortunate to include in the film, says Loscalzo. The theatre originally opened in October, 1921 as a vaudeville and movie house. After having closed in the mid 1980's, AMC started renovations in 2006 and had a grand re-opening on May 1, 2009. As the below photo shows, AMC Mainstreet, which features all-digital projection, is the "Crown Jewel" of AMC Entertainment in AMC's hometown.
Ashlynn Yennie, Shawn G. Smith, Jason Curtis Miller, Kurt Hannover, Curtis Smith, Sharon Wright, Krystal Heib, and the rest of the cast will be in attendance. Ernie Biggs, a Chicago style pub, is hosting a Q&A/reception directly after the screening.

We've been telling you guys about the indie film Fetch for about six months now, and today we get to show you a nice video taste of it as producer Ted LoScalzo of DrippingDead Films just sent over the official trailer.
LoScalzo tells us, "We have all watched way, way too many trailers, and most of them are disappointing because not only do they not hold your interest, but when you see the movie, it was all the best scenes! We have worked hard to make sure we don't repeat those mistakes. I do believe that this should help crank up the fervor for Fetch."

One indie project that we've been keeping close tabs on is Fetch, director C.M. Downs' upcoming feature that is currently shooting in Kansas, and today he sent over two new stills and an update on what's been happening since we last heard from him.
First up is a shot of Downs with actor Jason C. Miller (who portrays the character Clyde Arbuckle). Here's how Downs describes it, "I'm walking him through his final death sequence... I'm a big fan of keeping those eyes open at death. I know it's hard to tell, but the dirt floor he is laying on is actually frozen, which is why the blood is pooling around his neck and not seeping into the ground." In case you're wondering how the ground got to be frozen, Downs explains, "These guys shot through the coldest temps in 20 years of Kansas history. When I say cold, I mean Cold!
