At the start of this episode it is clear that Liam is not happy about having Libby in the house with them; he throws the meal she cooked him in the bin and when told not to keep saying horrible things to her by his brother he resorts to cards with the messages written on. He is also visiting an old man as part of a school project to learn about the second world war. When we learn why he has behaving the way he has we find that he had received a letter from his sister Debbie saying that she has been posted to Afghanistan. When the other family members learn that he is visiting an old man they assume the worst.. especially when Libby sees Liam wearing a dress at the old man's house; there is a good explanation but I won't spoil it here. In a secondary story Maxine's brother turns up with a black eye, claiming his father hit him and through him out of his home for being gay, he then proceeds to constantly needle Mickey by hinting that he will out him as well.
While still funny this episode was less manic than most, Johnny Bennett did well as Liam and I was pleased that in the end the old man was just a lonely character after a bit of company rather than a pervert as suspected. It was nice that Debbie got a mention, I hope it is a sign that her character will return one day and not preparation to kill her off.
